The first week of school at U. A. had passed easily. Mato, under the alias of Hideki Shirakawa, had managed without any sort of problem to gather informations about the school, and nobody suspected him.
Although, there was a problem.
Mato wasn't supposed to be in Class 1-B. He was supposed to be in Class 1-A. Even if he knew it, Mato didn't want to switch classes, because he was too lazy to do so.
During the week, All For One had managed to contact Mato to tell him to befriend someone from Class 1-A.
"What a pain in the ass," grunted Mato, while walking inside school, "I thought infiltrating was cooler, but I'm just living as a high-schooler."
(From what All For One said, I must befriend someone from Class 1-A... but it would be a lot easier if he at least tell me why!)
(Seriously, why am I doing this? What's the point in it? Only AFO knows for now, I guess...)
Mato walked through the hall and entered the class.
"'sup, guys."
"Hey, Shirakawa-kun!" Setsuna exclaimed, waving a hand to him, "c'mere, sit next to me!"
Mato scratched his head and sat beside Setsuna.
"How're ya, dude?" asked Setsuna.
"I'm good," said Mato, "what about you?"
"I'm fine," said Setsuna.
From afar, Tetsutetsu approached.
"Yo, brother," he said.
"Yo, Tets," said Mato, "you good?"
"Yup," Tetsutetsu scratched his head.
The day continued normally: Sekijiro Kan did his lesson. Mato didn't pay attention -- he fell asleep mid-lesson, with Setsuna costantly shaking him to wake him up.
At the end of the lesson, it was lunch time.
"Finally, I'm starving..." Mato sighed, slowly fixing his hair.
"Hey, bro, wait for us!" approached Tetsutetsu.
"Yeah, we're going to have lunch all together!" exclaimed Satsuna.
"Thanks, guys..." sighed Mato.
The three of them reached the dining room of the school and sat on a table.
"So," said Setsuna, "do you guys have any idea about your hero name?"
"Still no idea," said Tetsutetsu.
"Same," said Mato.
(Should I use "Mato" as my hero name? Or should I invent something else?)
"That's great, I've got nothing in mind either," said Setsuna.
"I'm going to get something to eat," said Mato, standing up.
"Bring me a hamburger!" shouted Tetsutetsu. Mato nodded.
While walking in the dining room, Mato bumped into someone.
"Sorry," he grunted.
"You okay?" said the boy Mato had bumped in. He had curly, green hair and freckles. Mato recognized him.
"You... you're the one who punched that faux villain during the entrance exam..."
"You were there too?"
"Yeah, I was in the same battle center as you."
"Really? What's your name?"
"Hideki Shirakawa."
"I'm Izuku Midoriya."
"In what class are you in?"
"1-A."
(1-A? I'm very lucky! I have to gather information from him!)
"I'm in Class 1-B."
"Sounds cool!"
"It is."
Suddenly, the two boys heard two voices.
"Hey, Deku-kun!"
"Hey, Midoriya."
There were a boy and a girl.
The girl had long, brown hair and pinky cheeks, while the boy had straight, short, and black hair and glasses.
"I... I remember you!" said Mato, pointing the guy.
"You... you're the one from the entrance exam!" said the guy.
"Hi, there!" exclaimed the girl, "are you Deku-kun's friend?"
"Uhm, no," said Mato, "we were talking because we bumped into each other."
"Listen up, Shirakawa," said the guy, "do you remember my name?"
"Tonya Eida?"
"Tenya Iida."
"Almost there."
"Anyway, I would like to apologize for thinking you had bad intentions. I misjudged you."
"Told ya."
The girl came closer to Mato and observed him.
"Mh, you seem pretty strong!" she said, "what's your Quirk?"
"Use and manipulate darkness," said Mato.
"Really? It's very similar to the Quirk of one of our classmates!" said the girl, "I'm Ochaco Uraraka, by the way."
"Nice to meetcha, Uraraka. Are you all from Class 1-A?"
"Yeah."
(It's my opportunity!)
"I've heard you're the best class of the school, I'd really like to know the rest of your class."
"I'm glad to hear it, Shirakawa!" exclaimed Izuku, "maybe... we'll present them to you after school?"
"Yeah, it'd be a cool idea," said Mato.
(Fine, everything's going exactly as planned... the plan is working!)
"Fine, let's catch up after school, then!"
The trio left, leaving Mato with a sense of happiness; but not because he had new friends, but because he now had the opportunity of gathering informations about Class 1-A.
Shortly after, Mato returned on the table where Setsuna and Tetsutetsu were waiting.
"Took you long enough, Shirakawa-kun!" exclaimed Setsuna.
"Sorry," Mato said, sitting down with the food, "I bumped into Class 1-A's fellas."
"Really?" asked Tetsutetsu.
"Really," said Mato, "they said they'll meet me after school to know each other better."
"Good choice, Shirakawa-kun!" said Setsuna, "it's good to fraternize with the other classes!"
(Yeah, fraternize... sure.)
__________
After school...
Mato walked outside school and rubbed the back of his head.
"Today was a tough day..." he sighed, looking at the grass of the courtyard. Suddenly, he heard a voice.
"Hey, Shirakawa!"
Mato turned and saw Izuku.
"Oh, hey dude!" he exclaimed, trying to sound eager to meet them again, "you kept your promise."
"Of course we did," said Iiida.
"Where are the others?" Mato asked.
"Well, you know," said Uraraka, "we brought you four of our classmates."
(Four? Mpfh, decent...)
From a corner, four people appeared. Two girls, two boys.
"Here they are..." said Izuku.
The first guy had yellow eyes and hair, a black thunder-shaped shade on the left side of the hair.
The second guy had red hair just like Mato, but his eyes were red too, unlike Mato's.
The first girl had pink skin and black sclera and yellow eyes.
The second girl... was invisible.
"Let me introduce you," said Izuku, "Denki Kaminari, Eijiro Kirishima, Mina Ashido, and Toru Hagakure!"
"Shirakawa, right?" said Denki, "Midoriya told me about you. I'm Kaminari!"
"We have the same hair color!" exclaimed Eijiro, "that's manly!"
"Hello!" said Toru, "I'm Toru Hagakure!"
"And I'm Mina Ashido!" said Mina, "it's my pleasure to meet you, Shirakawa!"
"Hello, everyone," said Mato, "you all look... interesting. Wanna be my friends?"
"Hell yeah!" said Eijiro.
"Sure, why not?" said Denki.
"Surely!" said Mina.
"Yeah, let's all be friends!" said Toru.
"It's good to fraternize with other classes, you know?" said Izuku.
"It was a pleasure to meet you guys," said Mato, "next time, I'll bring my classmates too."
"You gotta go, Shirakawa?" asked Eijiro.
"Yup," said Mato.
"Are you going home?" asked Toru.
Mato froze for a second, then spoke up.
"I don't have a home," he said, "I'm homeless."
"Really? But... how?" asked Mina.
"I raised myself alone," lied Mato. Surely, he couldn't say a villain raised him. "I found my phone on the ground, years ago."
"Why don't you stay at my place, then?" asked Izuku.
Mato's eyes widened.
"Huh?" he snorted, "would you really do that?"
"Of course I would," said Izuku, "my mother will surely welcome you like another son."
(I didn't expect things to go this way... but maybe, staying at his place, I might learn something more. Let's accept.)
"I accept."
"You won't regret it!" exclaimed Izuku, "let's go, Shirakawa!"
After parting ways with the others, Mato followed Izuku.
"I guess you have no parents, either," said Izuku.
"No, I don't," said Mato, "but I'm not making a big deal about it."
"I want you to know something, Shirakawa," said Izuku,
"here, at U. A., you're not alone anymore. You can count on me, at least."
(This guy... is really making things difficult for me.)
"Thanks, Midoriya," said Mato.
"Call me Izuku."
"Only if you call me Hideki."
"Deal."
(I know my mission very well, but... this might gets a lot funnier than planned.)
Chapter 5 - End
