Lavenia's POV
"You're awake," said Jax, who had just walked into the room where I was. He didn't seem at all self-conscious, and immediately I remembered what Celia had said about him.
I didn't answer right away because I was waiting for an explanation from him. Wasn't that what Celia had said earlier—that Jax might tell me everything I didn't know and wasn't supposed to say? She said Jax would explain it himself.
"Hmm…" I replied, just mumbling.
He checked on me, looking me over from head to toe, then sighed in relief and hugged me. "I was so scared when I found out they were holding you hostage."
I just looked at him without saying a word. He stared back at me intently.
"Why? Does anything hurt?"
I shook my head. "Celia gave me a potion and I feel better," I replied. "However, my stomach still felt stiff."
Jax touched my stomach. I almost brushed his hand away, but when his palm touched it, the stiffness and cramping eased.
"He... how is he? How do you feel? Does it hurt?"
