Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The First Employee

Wait. I set the 'Player Allowance' to 10 Points earlier. Does that come out of my pocket?"

[AFFIRMATIVE.] [Resources allocated to Participants are deducted from the Master Template Budget.]

Arthur hissed through his teeth. "Of course. Nothing is free."

He did the mental math quickly.

Total Budget: 500 CP

Room Cost: 100 CP

Player Allowance: 10 CP

Remaining for Monster: 390 CP

"If I give them 20 points," Arthur muttered, looking at the catalog, "They can buy a Sword (10), a Helmet (3), and a Healing Potion (5). That's a full loadout. They'll be safe."

"Keep it at 20 Points. But make sure the prices in the shop are fixed. I don't want inflation hitting the tutorial."

[ALLOCATION CONFIRMED: 20 CP per Participant.] [Remaining Budget: 380 CP]

Arthur turned his attention to the [MONSTER CATALOG].

"With 380 points, I can afford something nasty. But it needs to be beatable."

He scanned the list: Slimes (10 CP), Giant Rats (25 CP), Goblins (50 CP).

Arthur rubbed his chin. "Wait. Before I commit to the Goblin, I need to see the math. I can't just guess if they're beatable."

"System," he commanded. "Display the Attribute Profiles. Compare the monsters against a standard 'Level 1 Human'. I need to know if an accountant with a pot lid can actually survive a hit."

[PROCESSING COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS...]

A holographic table materialized, displaying the raw stats side-by-side.

[BASELINE: AVERAGE HUMAN (ADULT)]

Health (HP): 10 / 10

Strength: 5

Agility: 5

Intelligence: 8

Note: Soft skin. No natural armor.

Arthur nodded. "Okay, so 10 HP is the standard. Now show me the competition."

[CANDIDATE 1: SLIME (10 CP)]

Health: 20 (High durability)

Strength: 2 (Very Weak)

Agility: 1 (Slow)

Arthur's Verdict: "Too boring. They'll just poke it for an hour."

[CANDIDATE 2: GIANT RAT (25 CP)]

Health: 5

Strength: 4

Agility: 8 (Fast)

Arthur's Verdict: "Too fast. Hard to hit with a rusty sword."

[CANDIDATE 3: GOBLIN (50 CP)]

Health: 7

Strength: 4

Agility: 5

Note: Capable of using weapons.

Arthur stared at the Goblin's stats.

"it has less strength and health than an average human"

"can i upgrade the goblin??"

[AFFIRMATIVE. Species Modification is available.] [Warning: Modifications increase unit cost significantly.]

"but if i upgrade it can be too hard to defeat"

"system tell me the survivability of level 1 humans here"

[RUNNING COMBAT SIMULATIONS...]

[RESULT: 94% SURVIVAL RATE.]

[Analysis: The Average Human holds a statistical advantage in Mass, Reach, and Intelligence. Without modification, the Goblin is merely a nuisance, not a threat.]

Arthur nodded grimly. "Exactly. If they buy a sword, that survival rate goes to 100%. It's a vacation, not a test."

"Open the Modification Menu. Let's build a monster that can actually fight back."

MODIFICATION MENU - GOBLIN CLASS]

Hypertrophy (Muscle Boost): 50 CP (Effect: +3 Strength, +5 HP)

Trait: Starvation: 30 CP (Effect: Removes Fear. Unit attacks to eat.)

Night Vision: 25 CP (Effect: Perfect sight in darkness.)

Arthur tapped the screen rapidly. "Give it muscles so it can take a hit. And Starvation. I want it hungry

He selected Hypertrophy and Starvation. "I want it strong enough to brawl and crazy enough to ignore pain. That's enough."

[CONFIRM MODIFICATIONS?] [Total Unit Cost: 130 CP (50 Base + 80 Mods)] [Remaining Budget: 250 CP]

Arthur hit the button. "Do it."

"but i don't know how much damage 1 attack takes so system show status window of both goblin and level 1 player with attack and defence in it alse explain how defence works

"I need to know the math," Arthur insisted. "Show me the numbers. How does armour actually stop a sword?"

[STATUS WINDOW: MODIFIED GOBLIN]

HP (Health) 12 / 12 (7 Base + 5 Hypertrophy)

Attack Power 8 (5 Base Strength + 3 Hypertrophy)

Defense 1 (Thickened Skin via Hypertrophy)

Agility 7 (5 Base + 2 Starvation) - Faster than human

STATUS WINDOW: LEVEL 1 HUMAN]

HP (Health) 10 / 10

Attack Power 5 (5 Base Strength )

strength 5

Defense 0 (Standard Clothing - No mitigation)

Agility 5 (Average reaction speed)

Intelligence 8 (Capable of planning and strategy)

"This confirms it. If a player goes in bare-handed, they are dead. 5 Attack against 1 Defense means they only deal 4 damage. They would need three solid hits to kill it."

He pointed at the Goblin's stats. "Meanwhile, the Goblin deals 8 damage. One hit puts the human in critical condition. Two hits is game over. And with Agility 7, the Goblin strikes faster."

"But," Arthur murmured, looking at the shop menu. "If they buy the Iron Sword (+10 Attack), their power jumps to 15. That deals 14 damage. A one-hit kill."

"show survivability rate"
