Arthur grinned. "55%. A coin flip".

Arthur stared at the number, his smile fading.

"55%..." he muttered. He glanced at the System's directive floating in the corner: [Target Survival Rate: 30% - 50%].

"That's 5% over the limit. If I launch this now, I'm technically failing my first assignment. I can't rely on human stupidity to bridge the gap. I need to guarantee it."

"System," Arthur asked. "I have 250 Points left over. Does that roll over to the next floor? Or do I get a performance bonus for saving resources?"

He glared at the 250 CP remaining.He could buy a second Goblin.

He looked at the Goblin he had just designed. It was worth XP.

He looked at the unspent 250 CP one last time. It still annoyed him. It was wasteful. But adding anything else now would ruin the 48% survival probability he had agonizingly calculated.

"System," he asked quietly, standing up and dusting off his suit. "Is there a way for me to watch? Do I get a camera feed?"

The black void walls vanished. In their place, thousands upon thousands of screens ignited, wrapping around Arthur like a stadium seating 360 degrees.

For now, they were all displaying static. But in sixty seconds, they would be displaying millions of people realizing they were trapped.
