Tokyo Jujutsu High.
That's the name of my new school. I'm officially seventeen years old today, and my name is Suguru Geto.
Let me let you in on a secret: I'm a wizard. Well, a "sorcerer," according to the stiff guy in the suit who scouted me, but I'm sticking with wizard.
I'm finally heading to my version of Hogwarts to learn the craft. Sure, seventeen is a bit late to start the hero's journey, but in the stories I remember, that's usually when the plot gets good anyway.
It's been seventeen years since I reincarnated into this world. At first, I thought I'd just been reborn into the same boring reality. Then came the "Boom." At exactly four and a half years old—yeah, I'm precise like that—my vision shifted. I started seeing them: distorted, twitching paintings of monsters clinging to people.
Turns out, they aren't paintings. They're Curses.
As I trekked up the mountain toward the school, I spotted a stray one lurking near the path. It was a bloated, ugly thing, making pathetic wet noises. "Hey bro," I called out, letting a ripple of my energy leak out. "What's the move? You want to come with me?"
It let out a stupid screech. Honestly, I found it almost cute—like a brainless little monkey.
"I'll take that as a yes. Cursed Technique: Cursed Spirit Manipulation."
I reached out. The air around the spirit hummed as it began to glow, its entire form condensing and twisting like scrap metal in a hydraulic press. It let out a final, thin whine.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. You're thrilled to join the family," I muttered. With a final flick of my wrist, the curse was crushed into a small, black, marble-like sphere.
Down the hatch. I swallowed it in one go. No use tasting it; when it doesn't taste like anything.
I felt a small surge in my gut—a tiny drop added to the ocean of cursed energy I'd been building up for years. I wasn't exactly lacking power, but hey, you can never have too many friends.
Finally, I saw it: the massive, traditional gates of the school.
"Oi! Who are you?" Two burly guards stepped out, blocking my path. "Civilians aren't allowed past this point."
I gave them a bright, over-excited wave. "Hello! Nice to meet you! I'm Suguru Geto, the new student. Here for my first day!"
The guards traded a look, their frowns softening only slightly. "A new student? Who scouted you? Actually, never mind—just show us your invitation letter and you can pass."
I reached into my pocket. Empty. I checked the other one. Nothing.
"Umm... I think I lost it," I said, offering a sheepish grin.
The guards' eyebrows shot up. Their hands moved toward their weapons. This was definitely not the "magical school entry" I had pictured. I needed a way to prove I belonged here, and fast.
"One minute! Someone will come out if I show them a 'friend' of mine," I said, ignoring their warnings. I planted my feet and channeled my curse energy.
"Come forth: Monkey!"
With a roar that shook the trees, the massive primate curse I'd just captured some days ago exploded into existence in front of the gate.
It beat its chest, screeching loud enough to wake the dead.
Inside the staff room, Masamichi Yaga bolted upright. He felt a tidal wave of unfamiliar cursed energy at the gate. That has to be Geto, he realized, panic setting in. He sprinted toward the entrance, praying the kid hadn't started a war.
He was too late.
"Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue."
A white-haired boy, roughly my age, appeared like a ghost on the path. He held his hand out in a casual gun gesture. In a heartbeat, a sphere of intense, sapphire light condensed at his fingertip. The air screamed.
"Wait—" I started, but the word was swallowed by the sound of a vacuum.
BOOM.
The "Blue" tore through the air, creating a deep, jagged trench in the earth as it traveled.
It hit my monkey spirit dead center. There wasn't even time for it to scream.
In a flash of light and debris, my young curse was simply... gone. Erased from existence.
I stood there, staring at the smoking crater where my "friend" used to be, then looked up at the boy with the snowy hair and arrogant face.
Honestly I was a bit awed , he is hella cool.
If this is the standard here then this is gonna be fun. I smiled genuinely with all my teeth showing
Welcome to high school, I guess.
