Demon Slayer World

Kael's light bulb business wasn't just booming; it was a god-tier monopoly. In any era, money is just scrap paper if it isn't circulated, and Kael was an expert in circulation.

He first secured a sprawling, ancient estate, moving out of his family home to establish a private sanctuary with Mitsuri. He staffed the mansion with a dozen servants to handle the mundane logistics of life, settling into a beautifully lazy routine of corporate leisure.

While his father grumbled about Kael's lack of "filial piety"—mostly because Kael hadn't thought to hire a few maids for the old man—he couldn't argue with the results. Kael's father threw himself into his "second spring" as the face of the company, leaving Kael to enjoy the fruits of his Calculating Survivor strategy.

For Mitsuri, being rich meant one thing: an endless, rotating menu of world-class cuisine. Her daily life was a romantic fantasy of sunbathing with her cats and knitting sweaters for the "many children" they had planned. However, despite their nightly "efforts," there was no movement in her belly.

The problem was biological: the more powerful a life form becomes—especially one backed by the Power of Seven—the more difficult it is to reproduce. Kael didn't mind. A world for two was a sanctuary; he wasn't in a rush to introduce an "accident" into his perfect schedule.

The development of high-intensity UV lights was complete. Using the minimalist engineering knowledge from the Villedor Kael, Kael produced a finished product that far exceeded expectations. Tamayo's tests confirmed that an ordinary demon would be vaporized in a second. Whether it could kill an Upper Rank remained a theoretical variable, but the suppression effect would be absolute.

Ubuyashiki Kagaya was ecstatic. He immediately ordered a full deployment for the Corps' secret strongholds.

Today was the pickup day. Kael was lounging in the garden, his head resting on Mitsuri's soft, muscular thighs, eating grapes she had peeled for him.

"Master, a lady in a butterfly-pattern haori is here to see you," a servant announced.

"Show her in," Kael said. He knew exactly who it was. Kagaya was sending a Hashira to ensure the cargo's safety.

"Another 'lady'?" Mitsuri pouted, stopping the grape-feeding to pop one into her own mouth.

"I don't know her, Mitsuri. She's just a courier for our biggest client."

Mitsuri relaxed. She trusted Kael, even if his "playboy" energy occasionally made her want to pinch him. She excused herself to the inner house as light, rhythmic footsteps echoed down the corridor.

Shinobu Kocho stepped into the garden. She was 1.5 meters of focused, icy discipline, her purple eyes hiding a hollow, practiced smile. Seeing Kael—1.8 meters of overflowing laziness basking in the sun—her first impression was one of sharp distaste. Since her sister's death, "enjoyment" was a foreign concept to her.

"Hello, Mr. Sakuragi. My Lord sent me. I am Shinobu Kocho."

"Miss Kocho? How is Kagaya doing?" Kael stood up, towering over her.

Shinobu had to tilt her head back to meet his gaze, her smile becoming increasingly stiff. "The Master is well. Thank you for your... casual concern."

"That's good. I was thinking of challenging him to a game of soccer when I visit."

Shinobu's eyes narrowed. You want a man who can barely stand to play soccer? Are you even human? "The Master's body cannot withstand your... 'tossing about,' sir."

"Relax, I'll just make him the goalkeeper. I'd like to see the 'blind' fool who dares to kick a ball into his net," Kael joked, giving himself a mental thumbs-up.

Shinobu's brow twitched. She had been ordered to treat Kael with the same respect as the Master, but every word out of his mouth tested her resolve. "Mr. Sakuragi, let us focus on the business at hand."

Kael looked past her. "Is it just you? How is a tiny thing like you going to move this hardware? Your legs aren't even as thick as my arms."

A vein pulsed on Shinobu's forehead. Kael had stepped directly onto her primary insecurity: her lack of physical strength. She was only sixteen, and she had attained the rank of Hashira through toxins and speed, not brawn.

"I am truly sorry for being so... frail," she siseed, her smile turning dangerous. "But since the Master has given the order, I will obey. Can we stop wasting time?"

At the warehouse, Shinobu realized Kael wasn't mocking her—he was stating a fact. The UV equipment was heavy, industrial-grade tech. She eventually had to swallow her pride and ask for his help.

"Sure," Kael said, easily hoisting the crates into the carriage. He then hopped onto the driver's seat.

"Why are you getting on?" she asked.

"Kagaya wants me to install the gear personally. Plus, I'm supposed to help you optimize your toxin-refining tech. Didn't he tell you?"

Shinobu sat beside him, the seat cramped. She could smell the faint scent of wisteria on her and the scent of expensive tobacco on him. It was the closest she had ever been to a man her own age.

"Want some snacks? Mitsuri packed enough to feed a village," Kael offered.

"No, thank you."

"You should eat, kid. You still have a chance to grow if you hit the right macros."

Shinobu noted the advice in silence, her mind already analyzing the man who claimed he could "optimize" her life's work.

They reached the Demon Slayer Headquarters by nightfall. The location was a shifting secret, hidden behind layers of wisteria and guarded by the Kakushi. Kagaya bringing Kael here was the ultimate sign of trust.

As the carriage was unloaded, Kael walked to the main building and shouted at the top of his lungs: "KAGAYA! I'M HERE!"

Shinobu winced, wanting to vanish. A beautiful woman with white hair and the grace of a priestess emerged. It was Amane Ubuyashiki, Kagaya's wife.

"Is this the Sister-in-law?" Kael asked, grinning. "Kagaya brags about you in every letter."

Amane froze. "Uh... I... welcome, Mr. Sakuragi."

Kagaya's voice drifted from the interior, warm and amused. "Let him in, Amane. He's the only one who doesn't treat me like a porcelain doll."
