Chapter 6 - Zadox I

Zodax

They looked around weakly. They were in a cave-like place. Above them was a circular yellowish pattern, and on the floor beneath them was another circular pattern—different from the one above.

The situation sent chills down their spines. The cold breeze of phobia caressed their systems. They weren't wet, and neither were their clothes, the traps were enough, already, this was getting worse.

Ely: Where in the world are we?

(From the shadows came Lilyo, wearing Zadox's steel suit—without the mask. Even without it, he was Zadox. Shock slapped them hard as they stared at the daredevil and trickster, the sight they beheld gave thier system an imbalance for a while, what was happening, they were totally lost, not in Navan but in thier minds

Zadox: You must be surprised… the same way I am to see you survive up to this stage, what was he saying they thought

Iriel: The Koran

Zadox: It seems you guys are too good to be new recruits.

(He walked around gallantly, speaking softly with pride and glory. He was enjoying this.)

Zadox: Let me start with an introduction.(as if he knew they needed one)

Twenty years ago, I was a striving young master of science. I discovered a power source—an energy that could change Marthadon forever. When I was about to show it to the world, they came… calling themselves the Mart Force.

They took away my home, my dream, my discovery—everything I ever worked for—in the name of protection.

(His tone turned mischievous, mixed with anger)

They said they had "convicted judgments." I was thrown into the depths… down into dimensions. I became an alien in a strange land, stripped of everything I had.But everything changed when I recreated my dream and gave it to new inhabitants, preparing them for war—for the conqueror's future to come.

I came back… and found a mother who disowned her own child in peace of mind, while I burned in pain.

But right now, I have no reason to be angered. With my plan, I've gotten you exactly where I wanted you.

Alicia: (in disbelief) I thought you said we were to get an antidote.

Zadox: You are stupid, Mart Force. You are very stupid.

The only antidote you are to get… is your demise.

(His voice echoed through the walls with fury and energy.)Your death is the only antidote to my fury. And guess what? I will kill you slowly.

(He punched the cave wall. The circular pattern above them lit up yellow and began overshadowing them one by one. Pain surged through them, as if they were being squeezed.)

This will squeeze out every energy in you… including your life force.

Fortunately, you won't witness my victory over Marthadon.

Zadox :and see how it feels to be stripped of everything, when I am done with Marthadon am sure you will understand well, but sadly you may be dead by then Mart Force

Kylock: You don't have to do this.

Zadox: I said that twenty years ago too. The same way I felt… you will feel too.

(With a force that shook the cave, he flew out, leaving them behind. It was as if he left them to think about their demise. Thoughts flooded their minds.)

Ely: Seems like we escaped sudden death… just to die slowly.

Iriel :everything we went through that was just exactly what he expected

Alicia :this is crazy, flaming baboons, everything just to end up here, and we were only playing his game (with a tone of regret and a bit of anger)

Kylock: We can't give up now. There has to be a way out of this.

Ryan: (sarcastic) Let me guess… we think out of the box?

Kylock: Yes.

Iriel: So much for the Mart Force.

Alicia: (regretful) Seems like we're going to die here.

Kylock: This is not the time for remorse. We only have to be strong. Take it as part of the training

Ely :it no use

Kylock: The bravery that brought us here—I'm sure it's still there. It only needs to be awakened in us(this words typically become a potion of strength for them, they didn't want to die either, they just needed an influence of hope.

Those words worked on them. They snapped out of it. They had to get out of there. Ryan lifted his head, and an idea hit him,

Ryan: I have an idea.

Ely: Spit it out.

Ryan: How about we overload it?

Kylock: How?

Ryan: I'm sure this thing has a limit to the amount of energy it can drain… but if we give it more than that—

Alicia: It's going to go kaboom.

(Ryan nodded.)

Ely: Just like any electrical appliance when overloaded, It blows.

Iriel: But how do we generate that much energy?

Kylock: Our bodies generate 6000 joules of energy per hour.

Ryan: That would be enough(as if he knew how much this could possibly drain before getting overloaded, but it was a risk they were willing to take, thier lives depends on it even Marthardon. They started generating energy. Bluish light overshadowed the yellowish glow around them, overpowering its effect. After a while, Ely noticed a crack.

Ely: It's working.(to them it worth the risk now)

Kylock: Now we give it all we've got!(the crack was a morale booster for thier souls

The crack widened along the pattern. In no time, it shattered. They were freed—both physically and mentally , released from the fear of dying.

Ely: I thought I was going to die…

The jubilation didn't last long before Kylock noticed cracks in the walls.

Kylock: Seems like the celebration won't last, before this place is collapses,we need to get out before it caves in.

The cave was already shaking from its roots.

Alicia: What in the world—?!Immediately, Ely destroyed a rock that was about to smash them.

Ryan (in a deep whisper): Looks like we're moving to phase two.

Ely: We'll take care of this.

Ely and Ryan began smashing the falling rocks. To them, this wasn't even close to the faintest horror they had seen. Meanwhile, the other three searched for a way out.

Kylock: I'm sure everything is connected to this place.

(He pointed at the patterns on the ground in front of them.)

Alicia: Really? I thought he struck the wall.

Ryan (still smashing): We don't have time for jokes here

Kylock: I can see six zodiac signs of Marthadon.

Iriel: And I can see six of Earth.

Alicia: Then the other six must belong to another dimension.

Kylock: Then we rearrange them in pairs. Each dimension's zodiac signs must match together.together.

Kylock touched one symbol. A green light shone. He dragged it into place. The other two joined him, and soon they finished the circle—but there was still a blank space in the center, the collapse of the building wasn't under control any more

Iriel: Looks like we're missing one.

Kylock: We need a connection between these signs.

Ryan (joking): The sun.

Alicia: Yes—the sun is the only connection.

Iriel: But there's no sign of it here.

Kylock: Then we need something that represents it.

Ryan: Heat. My heat energy. I think it could work.

Kylock: I think you're right, with a bit of your energy, it could work

Ryan stopped smashing and stepped forward. Ryan placed his hands on the blank space and he released a burst of heat energy. Instantly, the green light glowed through every symbol. The destruction stopped abruptly, and a side of the cave opened. They didn't waste a second. They ran out of Navan, and the opening sealed behind them.

Ely (with a long sigh): That was too close… but we made it.

Kylock noticed they could contact Hazel again.

Hazel (through comms, full of joy and fear): Are you guys—?!

Kylock (cutting in): Just teleport us out of here!

Hazel didn't hesitate. She teleported them instantly.

Back at the fortress, the Mart Force stood around a device shaped like a table. A projected screen hovered above it, displaying Zodax and his Death Allies. Og was still in the translator—not as a prisoner, but because it was the only way they could understand him.

Kylock: Looks like we finally know who we're up against… the Death Allies, and Zodax—the leader.

Ely :who is also the Koran

Iriel: And we still have to find the antidote to the poison.

Hazel (turning to Og): You said you could help us with the antidote.

Og: I can.

Kylock: How?(humbly)

Og: We came here through a crack in your dimension's wall.

Ely: A crack?(highly amazed)

Og: Yes. A crack created by an ultra-violent blast.

Ryan (muttering): An ultra-violent cosmic blast…

They exchanged knowing looks. They were certain it had something to do with the Broken Chain

Og: If we close the crack, we stop the flow of dark energy from my dimension. That dark energy reinforces the poison. Without it, the poison's effect will be nullified. Even your atmosphere will weaken the allies, and Zodax will be vulnerable enough for you to defeat him.

Alicia: That sounds simple and direct.

Hazel :am sure it easier said than done

Kylock: With your help, we only have one problem left.

Ryan: Let me guess—Zodax.

Hazel: With the satellite's status report, I've got this.

She tapped the device, and Zodax and his army appeared on the screen, attacking.

Ely: So he really is here for revenge.

Kylock: Then we have to move fast and draft our plans.

Ely: Where is the crack?

Og: We built a fortress at the site of the crack.

Hazel: Then Og and I will go after the crack, while you guys stop Zodax and his armies.

Ryan:so basically while we stop Zodax and his armies,we're buying you guys time to close the crack

Hazel: Exactly, If we waste any more time, Zodax will get worse than this.

Hazel released Og from the translator and hung something green around his neck.

Hazel: This will let you understand us and communicate properly.

Hazel: Put the fortress on auto-drive mode. Everyone ready?

Kylock (like a commander): This may be our last… but it will be our best. And we appreciate you, Og.

Og nodded.

They had changed. The four weren't afraid anymore. Escaping Navan had strengthened their courage. The belief that they wouldn't die felt powerful inside them now, and their passion to save had reached its peak, but deep inside their hearts they knew totally that not only did thier systems changed, thier lives were changing too

Hazel: Everyone, touch my staff.

They all did. Hazel muttered words under her breath. Blue light bathed them, and in an instant, they were teleported to their destinations, different but of these same cause to stop zodax

They arrived at the war front. The Death Allies were already waiting, like battalions ready to consume a kingdom.

Kylock: These things had covered half of Macadeen Caravan.

Zodax stood atop something like a pole, watching. His voice was calm—but devilish, loud, and cold and normally prideful

Zodax: Seems I was right. You're too good to be new recruits.

Ryan (shouting): Yeah—and you underestimated us!

Zodax: That doesn't matter, warlock. What matters is the end. The death knell of Marthadon is here, the situation states that I am unstoppable

His voice ripped through the atmosphere.

Zodax: Warriors! Now is the time—the time of vengeance, the time to conquer, the time to erase our enemies from the face of the dimension, the has arrived, Attack!

Immediately, the Death Allies obeyed. Their roars could melt courage like ice.

The Mart Force didn't run. They had no choice even if they wanted to

Iriel: Seems like now is the time.

They summoned thier weapons .)

Alicia: Here goes nothing!

They charged immediately, diving through the allies armies the antagonistic atmosphere between five and battalions claimed it was war, one to conquer, the other to defend,

Meanwhile, Hazel and Og appeared in front of a long dark dome. In front of it, dark energy poured like a waterfall. Og dipped his large hands into it, and they were pulled into the fortress.

They landed in a dark cubicle—a warehouse of shadows. Og opened a small crystal, took two pieces, magnetized them to his chest, and gave Hazel the others.

Og: This will make us look like them to their eyes.

Hazel (disgusted): Great.

Og opened a door, and they entered a hallway. It was dark, eerie, and silent—like a graveyard. The air itself felt like fear, Hazel was practically ready for anything, if it involves destroying this things, it was as if walking through the gark of the night, the hallway proclaimed how horrific this place was and the darkness proofed the type of energy that exists here)

Hazel: This place is flowing with dark energy.

Og: Yes. It feeds from the dark energy of our dimension.

Suddenly, a large greenish lizard appeared. Its tongue hung long and wet as it circled them.

Hazel (stiff): What in the world is that?

Og: A monitor lizard. It scans creatures from every dimension.

Hazel: You mean it's trying to identify us?

Og: Yes. But this crystal has cloned our identity.

Hazel: When does this eternal rubbish end?

Og: We just have to be patient. It won't—

Hazel couldn't take it anymore. The creature leaned in, its tongue nearly touching her now this was enough, infuriating to her systems disgusted to the highest, she slammed her rod into its forehead. A greenish light flashed.

Hazel: So what happens now?(Og was a bit surprised at what she did but partly he wasn't, he was not expecting a sane Marthardonian keep up with the trashs of thier dimension)

Og: They'll be alerted.

Hazel: Then what do we do?

Og: We move—fast.

They sprinted until they reached three elevator doors. Og tapped the wall, and the middle one opened.

Og: Come on!

They rushed inside—but landed straight into the arms of an alley ready to attack, Og was fast enough to dodge and smashed it down with an iron hammer-like weapon by his side. Then he ran to a small monitor screen. Hazel looked around in disgust.

Hazel: So what now?

Og: We use this system to locate the energy signature of the crack.

Og: Found it. It's only a short distance from this side of the dome.

Hazel: Then let's move.

The door opened, and the view outside was worse: Death Allies had gathered, including one who looked like a commander, they were expecting this to happen after they had alerted them, it won't go stealthily again, but this was the fun to Hazel)

Hazel: At least some action
