Chapter 13 - 13 Faster and faster

Within the chip's simulated space, Green was enjoying the battle. Three mountain bears surrounded him. Under the chip's simulation, the three mountain bears were subtly cooperating as a team. If an ordinary team were facing these three mountain bears, it would be a miracle if even one or two people could escape; total annihilation would be the most likely outcome.

Green's face was covered in sweat, with beads of sweat streaming down his cheeks, but his face was full of excitement.

"Roar!" Three mountain bears attacked Green simultaneously.

Seeing the three mountain bears charging at him simultaneously, Green also launched a frontal assault. Blue data flashed in Green's eyes, and the gaps between the three mountain bears were quickly transmitted to his mind. In the instant before the two sides were about to close in, the three mountain bears each chose a different attack method.

One swung its left forepaw, another its right forepaw, and the one in the middle charged straight at Green. The triangular attack blocked the left, right, and front angles. If it were an ordinary knight, facing such an attack, he would only be decapitated.

But Green saw things differently. With a powerful push off with his left foot, Green's speed increased again. Just as the two were about to make contact, Green pushed off with both feet and flew up like a spiral, passing right through the gap between the three bears. The longsword in his hand grazed Green's body and slid past the forelimb of one of the bears.

With a "whoosh," a bear paw snapped off.

Even three healthy bears couldn't defeat Green, let alone one that had already lost its fighting ability. New wounds kept appearing on the three bears' bodies. Just like the mountain bears that died at Green's hands in reality, the three mountain bears eventually died from excessive blood loss due to their severe injuries.

[Huff...huff...huff...]

After defeating the three black bears, Green collapsed to the ground, breathing in the fresh air. With the enhancement of the chip, these bears would use tactics to constantly compress Green's hiding space, and even use a strategy of trading blows for injuries.

[Check your physical condition]

[Left arm missing]

[Bleeding volume greater than 1500ml]

[Severe laceration of the left shoulder]

"Hiss!" As the simulated adrenaline level dropped, intense pain shot through the wound, causing Green to gasp sharply. If he didn't finish off his opponent before his adrenaline ran out, he feared he would be the one to die once the intense pain hit.

Looking at his severed left arm, Green couldn't help but feel a wave of fear. In the end, the bear used its life to exchange for its injury, taking Green's sword with its own heart before unleashing a final blow that broke Green's left arm and tore away most of the flesh from his left shoulder with its claws.

"Luckily, this happened in virtual space. In the real world, such an injury would be fatal for a knight apprentice." Looking at his left shoulder, which had become a bloody mess, Green's eyes were filled with lingering fear.

"We still need to pay more attention to the last-ditch effort of life. Who knows what kind of power life can unleash in its final moments?"

Given Green's physique, even if he were hit head-on by the bear, it shouldn't have been this serious. However, it clearly exceeded the bear's strength limit, almost killing Green.

[That's about it, let's call it a day.] Feeling the excruciating pain from his broken left arm, Green ended today's training.

[Exit Training]

Green, who had been lying on the ground, suddenly felt a blur before his eyes, and the surrounding environment seemed to be pixelated. The original ceiling of the castle came into view, and he knew that he had returned to reality. Due to the extreme mental exhaustion from the simulation training, Green quickly fell asleep.

...

In a lush, green forest, a handsome young man, appearing to be no more than seventeen or eighteen years old, sported short black hair. While not conventionally handsome, his confident demeanor was captivating. His brown eyes gleamed with a sharp gaze, like a drawn sword, revealing its edge.

The young man held a longbow in his hand. Under the sunlight, the bow, made of a special metal, curved as he drew it. The metallic arrowhead, even under the warmth of the sunlight, sent a chill down one's spine.

"Whoosh"

The white arrow, like the Grim Reaper's scythe, pierced the prey's brain, and a mountain bear fell stiffly to the ground. Until its death, it didn't understand what had happened.

The young man, who had killed his prey with a single blow, showed no joy on his face; instead, he became even more serious. The gloom between his brows deepened.

This young man was none other than Green.

Ten days have passed since Green completed his hunt of the hog and bear. Every day after that, Green went hunting in the forest, and as the number of hunts increased, he noticed something unusual.

The powerful beasts of the Annapurna mountain forests have begun to migrate towards the outskirts. Combined with the rumors circulating in Saladin's kingdom, this is not a good sign.

There must be a reason for the migration of wild animals. If it is not due to a lack of food, then there must be a powerful creature occupying their territory, forcing the wild animals to move to the outskirts.

Deep within the Annapurna Mountains dwells a ferocious mountain bear of the caliber of a Grand Knight. Only an operation at the level of a human legion could force such a dominant creature to relocate and abandon its territory, choosing to retreat.

"It won't be long; Saladin's kingdom is moving faster than anyone imagined."

[Establish an analytical model to predict when Saladin's kingdom will launch its attack.]

The blue data began to refresh continuously, with data point after data being added to the model, analyzing the situation between the Kingdom of Saladin and the Kingdom of Lodin. Economic conditions, domestic situations, geographical environment, and the migration speed of wild beasts in the Annapurna Mountains—all these factors were incorporated into the model.

[Estimated duration: 90-150 days]

So fast? This timing made Green's heart tighten. He quickly checked the chip analysis results.

[Economic Situation: Saladin's kingdom doubled its tax revenue last year, but the overall wealth of the nobility did not change significantly, and the whereabouts of a large amount of money are unknown. Grain trade at the port of White Oak in the Mas Alliance has increased, presumably for war purposes.]

[Domestic Situation: The domestic situation in the Kingdom of Lodin is turbulent and unpredictable. Baron Klo has sent the news to Grand Duke Lotahan, but there is no discussion within the kingdom. It is believed that the news has been blocked. The high-ranking nobles of the Kingdom of Lodin are engaged in a brutal power struggle and have no time to attend to the outside world.]

[The migration speed of wild beasts in the Annapurna Mountains is accelerating, and the density of knight-level beasts is constantly increasing. The physical condition of the beasts is also rising, approaching the limit of knight-level. According to normal distribution analysis, great knight-level beasts are about to appear.]

Green's face had turned ashen, and the calculations were getting faster each time. Every time Green used the chip to make calculations, the time of Saladin's invasion would be shortened.

The problem is that there are too few data sources. Chips don't have a god's-eye view; they can only extrapolate based on the current situation, so it's normal for the results to be inaccurate.

Green sighed inwardly, then scanned his surroundings to make sure the chip had finished recording before pulling up the mountain bear's carcass and heading towards the castle without looking back.
