Chapter 11 - Hello Abaddon

The moment I was ready, I called out to Sophia.

"Get back!"

Sophia looked puzzled at my call but didn't hesitate and distanced herself from the demon. Her body moved as if she was as light as a feather as she landed beside me.

"You little shits!"

The demon, as if sensing something was amiss, charged at us, but by then everything was already set. I transformed the rain above his head into acid. The acid landed onto his head, melting his skin and hair.

He immediately fell to the ground, clutching his face. But as he bent over, more acid fell on him on his back. The demon screamed in agony as his skin and clothes melted off his body like butter.

Soon, his blood began to mix with the melting skin, and two sets of horns burst from his head. The whites of his eyes had turned black, and his irises became crimson in color. He was returning to his true demonic form.

Sophia watched with a mixed expression on her face. The sight and smell of flesh being melted to the point where bones were visible was a horrifying sight for anyone to digest.

"I'll kill you! I'll kill you both!"

In his agony, he reverted back to the demon tongue, but I understood it perfectly. Unlike humans, demons were born knowing how to speak, so they didn't need to learn it. It came as naturally as breathing.

"He's… not that scary anymore," Sophia whispered softly.

"Demons are pathetic creatures. In the end, they are the ones who always lose. It was your fear that led you to think otherwise. That's what gives them power."

Well, not all demons, but this one was scum. He allowed himself to be used by humans. He became their pet, which was why he was able to survive here for so long.

"My parents were killed by such a pathetic creature?"

"Yes… Now, it's your job to avenge them."

Sophia then took off the ski mask so the demon could see her face. I knew what she was trying to do so I didn't stop her. The demon stared up at Sophia, but then his expression changed as if he came to a realization.

"Wait, I know you. You were in one of the photos of targets to be taken out, but you were never found. Yes, you're the daughter of the Vanes. The rank 3 guild on the continent of Asmora," the demon continued to speak in demonic tongue, so Sophia didn't understand a word he was saying.

"It was your uncle. He was the one who hired me to kill your parents," the demon shouted as Sophia realized just how weak the person she had feared for so long was.

Sophia wasn't ready to here the truth of her parents. At least not yet. If she did, it would lead to complications in the future.

"I think it's time you kill him. It's the only way you can move forward." I said to her.

Sophia looked at me, and from that look, I realized I didn't have to tell her. She already knew what needed to be done. She gave a slight nod and raised the scythe above the demon's head. I swear, at that moment she looked just like the grim reaper himself.

All that could be heard was a soft swish followed by a spurt of blood and the demon's head rolling on the ground and stopping at my feet. The demon's limp body then collapsed over. It's blood mingling with the rain and acid.

I rested my hand on her shoulder, which caused her body to shiver slightly.

"You did a good job."

She didn't react, and I could see tears running down her face.

I decided to leave her alone for a bit and turned my attention to the demon's head. I lifted it up, and there it was, the demonic eyes.

"What are you doing?" Sophia finally noticed what I was doing.

But I ignored her question and used my Knife to gouge out the demon's eyes. Cutting through flesh felt a bit strange at first, and seeing something like this should've disgusted me, but for some reason it didn't.

[Sin Points +2. 3/40]

It was a bit terrifying in a way. Ripping out the eyes from a corpse now seemed like the most mundane thing in the world.

"There are guilds who buy the body parts of demons to do tests and such. I'm planning on selling them," I explained to Sophia as I dangled the eyeballs in front of her.

She looked at me and frowned.

"You're a crazy person, you know that. Seriously, how could I not have realized it before? And that thing you pulled earlier, don't think I have forgotten about it!" she shouted, pointing her finger at me.

I shoved the demonic eyes into the pocket of my hoodie, but suddenly, I began feeling light-headed. My vision blurred, and my legs gave out, causing me to fall to my knees.

"Are you okay? What's happening?"

"This is just the price of using my skill."

'I used up too much stamina. Using two skills is already pushing my body to the limit.'

She sighed and approached me. She threw my arm over her shoulder and helped me to my feet.

"This makes us even."

We took the same sky train going back home. In the morning, someone would've noticed the body and notify a guild. The acid rain erased any evidence that we were even there.

Luckily, we weren't late in getting back to the sky train. Neither were our parents back yet. I was still weak, so Sophia helped me up to the apartment.

"Do you need help getting to your room?" As she spoke, there were faint red streaks dancing on her cheeks.

Being this close, she could no longer resist my demonic charm but I was too tired to have any fun with her.

"No, I'll be fine. Get some rest. I'm sure you'll be able to sleep just fine tonight," I said as I unhooked my arm from around her neck.

I watched as she disappeared into her room before I turned and went to my room, which was at the opposite end of the hall. Opening the door, I couldn't help but feel relieved, like coming home after a long day at work, but all of that was shattered when I saw what was waiting for me inside.

Immediately, my hand clutched the dagger hidden in the pocket of my hoodie.

'Who is this?'

Sitting on my bed was a woman. A woman with brown skin, polished white hair that reminded me of silver, and a body that could hardly be contained by the stylish dress she was wearing. Even though I was startled, I couldn't help but feel attracted to this woman. The best way to describe it was that this woman seemed like the embodiment of lust itself.

When she saw me, her lips, which seemed incredibly soft from just a glance, curved up into a teasing smile.

"Hello… Abaddon."
