Cherreads

Chapter 4 - chapter 4 :Friday Night Bites

Today I woke up with an inexplicable feeling. I kind of have that feeling that this year is gonna be different. And the past won't matter anymore. I smiled and started to get up from my bed to get ready for school. I looked at Caroline's room. It was empty. She didn't come home last night. I thought she would come home later at night, but she didn't. Did she spend the night at Bonnie's? Ugh, whatever. First, get ready for school or else I'll be late.

I see Bonnie and Elena talking, so I chimed in on their conversation.

Aaron: "What are you two talking about?"

Elena: "Bonnie is suddenly saying that I shouldn't date Stefan."

Bonnie: "I'm not saying you shouldn't date Stefan. I'm just saying take it slow."

Elena: "But why? You were the one who pushed me for it."

Aaron: "I kinda feel Bonnie is right. Stefan is little… bit weird."

Bonnie: "See that?"

Elena: "Huh? OK, tell me a reason. Why do you feel like that?"

Aaron: "I don't know. It's just my intuition telling me not to."

Elena: "Gosh, you both are freaking killing that clairvoyant act."

Aaron: "Wait. Before that… where is Caroline? I thought she'd be with you. She didn't even come home last night."

Bonnie and Elena: "No. She wasn't with us."

Aaron: "Really? OK, then I'll get going. Bye."

Elena and Bonnie waved at me.

When we parted, I called Caroline. The first call was missed, then on the second, she picked it up.

Caroline: "Hello."

Aaron: "Caroline, where are you? You didn't even come home yesterday."

Caroline: "Well, I'm with a boy right now. The boy I've been talking about. And don't worry, I will still be there at cheerleading practice. OK, so bye."

Aaron: "Hey, wait—"

I couldn't say anything more before Caroline hung up on me. I was left speechless because Caroline never hangs up on me. Even when she becomes busy, she still listens to me first.

"Whatever… I will talk to Caroline when she gets here."

After school, I received a text from Elena.

Elena: "In my house at 7:30. Bonnie and Stefan will be there too."

I read the text and figured out Elena arranged a dinner between us to make up our minds to be OK with Elena dating Stefan. I went to the cheerleading practice place to see Caroline. She didn't call me and she was not even in school, but she said that she would be at cheerleading practice.

As I arrived, I saw the girls sitting bored. And I did not see Caroline anywhere. Bonnie and Elena saw me and waved. I went to them.

Aaron: "Where is Caroline?"

Elena: "I don't know. It's not like her to be late. But did you get my text?"

Aaron: "Yes. I did."

Elena: "Good."

Bonnie whispered, "We are trapped," then let out a chuckle.

Suddenly, I saw a dark-colored 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible driving in. And I saw Caroline getting out of that car.

Bonnie: "That must be the mystery guy from that grill."

Elena: "That's not the mystery guy. That's Damon Salvatore."

Aaron: "Damon Salvatore, as in Stefan's brother?"

Elena: "Yeah."

Caroline came toward us. Caroline looked at Elena and said, "I got the other brother, hope you don't mind." Then she looked at me, "Aaron, go home."

Aaron: "Well, I was worried for you."

Caroline: "Now you saw me. So go home."

Then Caroline went and stood in the middle. "So ladies, let's start our practice."

Noticing Caroline didn't want me here right now, I slipped away. On my way, I saw that the car was still there. And the man was watching the girls practice.

I shouted at him, "Hey. Don't you think you are being creepy?"

He then looked at me through his sunglasses and said, "Umm… you look so similar to that blonde chick."

Is Caroline for real? Is she actually dating this douche guy?

I replied in a stern voice, trying to hide my anger, "That blonde chick is Caroline, and she is my sister."

Damon: "Oh my God. Did I offend you? I'm so sorry. I didn't know Caroline had a baby brother. No wonder you look so similar to Caroline. By the way, hi, I'm Damon Salvatore. And currently, I'm dating your sister."

In this situation, I should also introduce myself. But as someone who doesn't get angry easily, this guy actually has a gift for making me angry. I completely ignored that guy and started to walk away.

Damon: "Whoa. Someone is moody."

I turned back. What the f did the guy say? Does he want to taste a punch?

Damon then looked at my angry expression.

Damon: "My heartfelt apologies. I didn't realize you wouldn't like that joke."

Aaron: "Yeah, I don't like jokes."

Damon: "My bad. Um… how about, as an apology, I give you a ride to your home?"

Aaron: "No thanks. I don't need it."

I began walking away. If Stefan's brother is this bad, then Stefan is practically a saint. Also, what is the problem with Caroline's choice in men?

Bonnie: "You explain it. 9-0. Commercial break comes on and I'm like, 'I bet it's that phone commercial.' Then I see the guy and the girl with the bench, he flies to Paris and he flies back. And they take a picture."

Elena: "Oh, come on. That commercial's on a constant loop."

Bonnie: "Fine. Well, how about this? Today I'm obsessed with numbers. Three numbers: 8, 12, and 22. How weird is that?"

Elena: "Maybe we should play the lottery."

Aaron: "Have you talked to your grams?"

Bonnie: "She is just gonna say I'm a witch. I don't wanna be a witch. Do you?"

Elena: "I don't want to be a witch."

Aaron: "Forget about you two. My sister is constantly ignoring me the whole day. I bet it's related to her new boyfriend."

Bonnie: "Don't worry. People new in love become like this. Give it some time."

I looked at her with a 'are you serious' look.

Bonnie: "In my defense, look at Elena. She is a prime example of what new love can do to you."

I rolled my eyes.

Elena was looking for the serving spoon. "Okay, serving spoons. Where are the serving spoons?"

Bonnie: "Middle drawer on your left."

Elena opened her left middle drawer, then took a serving spoon out.

Elena: "OK. You have been in this kitchen a thousand times."

Then we heard the bell ring.

Elena: "OK, he is here. Don't be nervous. Just be your normal loving self."

Elena: "Did Tanner give you a hard time today?"

Stefan: "Well, he let me on the team, so I must have done something right."

Elena: "Bonnie, you should have seen Stefan today. Tyler threw a ball right at him, and—"

Bonnie: "Yeah, I heard."

And I remained silent as usual.

After we finished our dinner, we heard the bell ring.

Elena: "I'll see."

Stefan: "Stefan, I'll come too."

Then, after some minutes, I saw Caroline and Damon Salvatore walking in.

Damon: "Hi Aaron. We meet again."

I rolled my eyes.

Damon: "Sorry, how was your day?"

Then I stood up. "Guys, have fun, but I remember something important to do."

Caroline stopped me. "Are you leaving already? But we just got here."

Aaron: "I have some important things to do. We'll meet later. Bye."

I then left Elena's home. Caroline completely ignores my calls and messages, and she doesn't even come home that much nowadays. And here she is with Damon. Also, what's with that terrible scarf? I quit thinking about it anymore. Let's just walk home to clear my head.

Lately, Caroline has been ignoring me, and I just left it like that as Bonnie suggested. People new in relationships need time. LOL.

I stood away from the crowd, but I could still hear Mr. Tanner's speech over the microphone.

Tanner: "Quiet down for a minute. Let's be honest here. In the past, we used to let other teams come into our town and roll right over us. But that is about to change. We've got some great new talent tonight starting on offense, and I'm gonna tell you right now, it has been a long time since I've seen a kid like this with hands like these. Let's give it up for Stefan Salvatore."

As I was hearing Mr. Tanner's speech, I saw Tyler walking out of the crowd and then going straight toward Jeremy. I could see that Vicky was trying to stop him. Figuring something bad was gonna happen, I went closer to them.

Then suddenly, Jeremy punched Tyler in the face. And Tyler lost control. Tyler stumbled, then charged, tackling Jeremy to the ground. They rolled across the grass, fists swinging wildly. Tyler straddled Jeremy, his fist raised. Before it could come down, a sharp impact snapped his head to the side. My foot caught him square in the face, the kick clean and deliberate. Tyler rolled off Jeremy with a grunt, hitting the ground hard. I landed lightly, already pulling back, my stance steady as Tyler groaned and tried to get up.

Great thing Mom signed me up for karate classes since I was little.

Tyler got up and looked me in the eyes. "You are so dead, fucking Forbes."

Then Stefan came in the middle and stopped Tyler. But Jeremy tried to attack Tyler with a broken glass, but Stefan stopped it.

Everyone came here. Elena went straight to Jeremy, and Caroline came to me.

Caroline: "Oh my gosh, Aaron. Are you OK? Let me see."

I tried to break free. "I'm OK."

Caroline: "Aaron Forbes, I'm trying to see if you have any injuries or not, and if you move even a little and try to stop me, I'll show Mom your report card. So stay still."

I just rolled my eyes. After Caroline checked me and saw with her own eyes that I was fine, only then she stopped.

Aaron: "See? I didn't fight. I just kicked Tyler in his face."

Caroline: "Still don't put yourself in danger. You worry me."

Aaron: "I'm fine."

Caroline: "OK."

Caroline put her hand behind my back. I could sense something was wrong with Caroline. Sometimes she ignores all of us, then the next second she goes back to her loving self again.

I was a little bit away from the crowd. Caroline went to her cheerleading team. Suddenly, we heard Matt screaming, "Somebody help!" We all went there

and saw Mr. Tanner's dead body.
