Three months passed since the awakening of Aerin's ability. During these past three months, they did nothing but train. Making Aerin dodge for two minutes straight was proven to be difficult.
Aerin just barely finished the training. He knew that if his grandfather was serious and not holding back, he would surely not be able to finish it.
Now, he and his grandfather were in front of a gate. The gate was open wide and inside, a wide open field was laying in front of a large building. The building consists of a large building in the middle, the tallest and biggest one. One room stood on each side of the main building, a bit smaller.
Aerin was astounded. His eyes got literal stars on them as he looked inside. He tried to read what was written on top of the main building, but couldn't since he did not know how to read yet.
"Hunter Academy"
Aaron read it out loud for his grandson.
"Hunter Academy…"
Aerin muttered.
"Okay, let's go in."
Aaron held his grandson's hand and walked inside. The view inside was even more amazing. Though the design was simple, it showed great craftsmanship. Even the walls of the village were of high quality. Aerin only saw one structure with the same quality, the weaponshop of the Rourken Family.
The path from the gate to the main building filled Aerin with awe. Stone slabs were neatly arranged on the pathway, with bushes sprouting some strange yet beautiful yellow flowers that Aerin did not know the name of. Behind the bushes was a wide open field and there seemed to be students doing their training on logs standing upright or sparring against each other.
After a while, they reached the door to the main building.
"Huge…"
Aerin muttered with his mouth wide open. It was his first time seeing a structure this big. Most of his life was spent with his grandpa in a small hut. It was an eye opener for a kid like him.
"The major families worked together to build this academy. The minor families also helped, so it was too much to say that this is the greatest and grandest building ever built here in our village."
Aaron smiled. He expected this kind of reaction from his grandson.
"This was only built around 10 years ago, after the major families finally settled their grievances among each other, at least on the surface."
They opened the door, and behind it was an even more breathtaking sight for Aerin. The building consists of two floors. The ground floor, which they are at now, and the upper floor, only accessible to people of higher standing in the village.
Many lightstones were hanging on the ceiling, lighting up the room, however it was strangely not glaring to the eye. Instead, they looked like tiny stars, giving the people inside a sense of awe.
The floor was made of stone, carefully chiselled to make it smooth. It was so smooth, in fact, that Aerin could almost see his reflections on it. It was the main hall, and at the very end of the hall, opposite to the door, is a very tall stage, much taller than Aerin, about two meters tall.
There are doors on both sides of the hall, probably leading to the much smaller buildings.
There are wood plaques on top of the doors, probably indicating the type of room it is. However, since Aerin could not read, he could only scratch his head.
They went to the door on the left side of the hall. Inside, there are three doors on the right side of the room, probably the offices of the instructors. There are chairs in the end of the room, and a stair leading to the upper floor.
"Sit there, wait for me. I need to talk to the head real quick."
Aaron pointed at the chairs, and then went up the stairs.
Aerin sat down and looked around. There are windows on the wall made of glass. Aerin went over, curious. It was his first time so close to a glass. Very few people could afford to have glass, and it shows a sign of wealth. He recalled the scene earlier, and realized that all the windows of the academy seemed to be made of glass. He couldn't help but take a deep breath.
Suddenly, one of the doors behind opened, making a creaking noise. Aerin was startled, his shoulders jerking as he spun around.
There, a man in his thirties was just walking out from one of the doors. The man was very handsome, or manly. THe man have auburn hair, neatly combed to the side. He wore a pair of glasses, resting nicely on his pointed nose. His thin lips and chiselled jaw made him look like someone out of this word. A black leather coat was draped down to his knees, and a white shirt underneath.
Standing almost two meters, the man exudes an air of confidence and authority.
Seeing the kid in front of him, the man looked surprised too, but nothing was shown on his face. He just looked at Aerin coldly and then quietly walked away.
Aerin was frozen on the spot. He could feel that the man was very strong, maybe even stronger than his father. Something about the man's gaze made him freeze in fear, as if his heart suddenly stopped beating, afraid to make a sound.
When the man finally walked out of the hallway, only did Aerin exhale a deep breath and sat at the chair, his whole body drained of strength.
"Huu… Who was that?"
He remembered the man's auburn hair, and thought of one of the major families, the Lionkin Family. They could not transform any part of their body, but they do have auburn hairs, setting them apart from all other families.
Lionkin…
He was interrupted from his thoughts when he saw the figure of his grandfather walking down the stairs.
Walking up to him, his grandfather gave his usual smile. Putting his hand on his grandson's shoulder, he said.
"From today on, you will study here. Work hard, and listen carefully to everything taught to you, they are all helpful."
Aerin only gave a little but firm nod. He recalled the man from earlier, and he wanted to be like that man.
