Chapter 1 - Prologue

Monsters that move mountains just by breathing. Insects that cause earthquakes when they walk. Gigantic eagles that covered the skies with their wingspan alone, casting shadows over the earth.

In this place filled with unimaginable monsters, humans must learn to survive with their fragile bodies. They learned to fight, learned to train, and learned to hunt. What was once the prey became the predators. They hunted and ate what they hunted. Strangely, this caused their bodies to undergo different mutations. Some grew horns, some can breathe fire, some grew wings, and many more. These strange mutations get passed down generation to generation and get stronger with each generation.

Now, there's not a single person without an ability, and they now take pride in each of their abilities.

Here in Quiet Bloom Village, a quiet and peaceful village, lives an old man with his eight-year-old grandson in a small hut at the corner of the village. The sun was about to set, and an old man was tending to his plants while the kid watched boredly. The old man, despite having some wrinkles on his skin showing his old age, did not seem old at all from the way he was standing. A straight back, steady hands, a calm smile, and sharp brown eyes. One glance and you can tell that he is still a very good fighter. His name is Aaron of the Valewood family.

Aerin of the Valewood, his grandson, was about to fall asleep on his chair. The kid has pitch-black hair, waving messily at every blow of the air. Drool was about to fall from his small mouth when a loud thud woke him up abruptly, causing him to fall on the ground.

Groaning, he looked up to the sky. However, the sight made him forget about his pain as he stood up and excitedly waved his small hands.

There, a muscular man, only wearing a pair of brown shorts, was flying. It was Aerin's father, Amon of the Valewood family, a big man with broad shoulders and rock-hard muscles all over his body with scars running down it. Long pitch-black hair tied in the back, sharp brown eyes, a chiseled jaw, and bronze skin. Amon is definitely a very handsome man. What stood out the most, however, was a pair of large brown wings flapping slowly at his back, with each flap hurling waves of wind.

As he slowly descended, his pair of wings too slowly retracted to his back until no trace of it was left, as if it was never there.

"Father!"

Aerin excitedly ran towards his father with a big smile on his face.

"Aerin!"

Amon grabbed his son by the waist and lifted him up as he laughed.

"How is my little boy? Did you behave while I was gone? "

Amon hugged his son and asked smilingly.

"Yep! And I even helped Grandpa with his garden! "

Aerin replied smugly.

"Helped, my ass. That kid did not help at all; he only sleeps."

Aaron walked over and snorted.

"Father, I'm back."

Amon, still holding his son, looked to his father.

"Yeah. I can see that. How was it? "

Aaron's question made Amon's smile falter a little, but he quickly recovered.

"Still okay, for now. Let's talk about it later. For now, how should we cook this big boar I brought? "

Amon walked over to a dead boar lying nearby, which was dropped by him earlier.

Aerin, still in his father's arms, got literal stars in his eyes as he looked at the boar, thinking of many ways to eat it.
