Kamen Rider Gavv leaped across the Parisian rooftops, his chocolate-plated armor gleaming under the soft, distant streetlights. He spotted Dark Cupid hovering over the plaza, preparing to fire another arrow, its tip glinting with a dark, hateful energy. Gavv landed on a chimney with a quiet thud, his silhouette sharp and angular against the sky. Dark Cupid turned, a cruel smirk spreading across his pale face.
"Well, look at you," Dark Cupid sneered, his voice cutting through the evening air. "Changed your flavor?"
Gavv leveled his gaze, his voice calm and low, echoing a line from an old western movie he had once seen.
"You've got a choice, Kim. Drop the bow and walk away. Or draw… and get flattened."
Dark Cupid laughed, a harsh, bitter sound that held no joy.
"I'm not stopping until every heart in Paris is as black as mine! And I'm taking Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses!"
Gavv nodded slowly, the chocolate-bar crest of his helmet catching a stray reflection.
"You were warned."
Gavv raised his right hand, and a sleek, rectangular block of dark chocolate materialized in his grip. The Chocodangun, a weapon of unexpected sweetness and destructive power, settled comfortably in his armored fingers. He looked at the chocolate block, then at Dark Cupid, a faint sense of grim purpose behind his visor. With a sharp SNAP, he bit off one corner of the chocolate block with his helmet's teeth. The broken edge instantly reshaped, forming a trigger and a distinct gun barrel, the smooth brown material shifting with a subtle, mechanical hum. He cocked the weapon with a practiced motion.
"Sweet dreams," he muttered, the words a low, dry promise.
He pulled the trigger. A concentrated bolt of dark, viscous energy fired from the barrel. Dark Cupid, startled, broke off his attack and dodged, the shot streaking past his wing with a whoosh. The battle had begun.
Chocodan Form offered a different kind of strength, a calculated approach rather than the raw, bouncy power of the Poppingummy Form. This chocolate armor, composed of hardened segments, provided a more stable defense against physical blows, though it lacked the gummy form's elasticity and healing properties. Its weakness was heat, a vulnerability that made him cautious around fiery attacks. The Chocodangun, a manifestation of his own chocolate energy, was its signature weapon. The projectiles themselves were made of solidified, high-density chocolate, capable of direct damage or tactical immobilization upon impact, turning sweet treats into hardened, formidable tools of combat.
Dark Cupid swooped in, a black arrow nocked and ready.
"You won't stop me, candy boy!" he shrieked, bitterness dripping from each word. "Love is a lie, and I'm going to prove it to everyone!"
Gavv stood his ground, the weight of the Chocodangun steady in his hand. He fired another bolt, aiming for Dark Cupid's torso. The akumatized villain twisted mid-air, the arrow deflecting the chocolate projectile with a dull thud. He was fast, faster than the previous Magia Gavv had faced. Gavv knew he needed precision.
"You're mistaken," Gavv said, his voice flat and calm. "Love is a choice. You chose to hate."
Dark Cupid soared through the air, nimble on his dark wings. Gavv sent another chocolate blast after him, but the villain twisted, a black arrow whistling past Gavv's helmet. A small fragment of chocolate armor chipped away, dusting his visor. The air crackled with hostility.
Below, the scene turned into something strange. Cat Noir, corrupted by the arrow, sprinted across the plaza, his movements jerky and panicked.
"Hold still, Cat Noir!" Ladybug yelled, her voice strained. Her yo-yo spun, a red and black disc, ready to ensnare him. "I just need one little kiss to fix you!"
Cat Noir glanced back, his face a mask of pure revulsion. His lips were black, and his green eyes held a frantic, desperate hatred.
"Stay away from me, you spotted menace!" he shrieked, his voice filled with disgust. "The thought is sickening!"
He tripped over a loose cobblestone, stumbled, and then crashed directly into Dark Cupid, who had been preparing to fire another arrow at Gavv. The collision sent both akumatized villain and corrupted hero tumbling to the ground in a tangled heap of black wings and leather.
Gavv paused, his gun arm lowering slightly. He watched the two figures scramble, a faint hum from the Chocodangun in his hand the only sound he made.
"What are those two doing?" he muttered, the question a dry, quiet observation into the empty air. The battle had taken a truly unexpected turn, becoming less of a fight and more of a strange, chaotic dance.
Ladybug landed gracefully beside Gavv, her red suit a bright contrast to his dark chocolate armor. She glanced at his new form, a quick assessment in her bluebell eyes.
"Nice new look, Rider!" she said, her voice steady and even. She kept her focus on the entangled villains, never breaking concentration. "It fits the theme today."
Gavv gave a single, small nod in acknowledgement. His attention remained fixed on Dark Cupid and Cat Noir, who were now untangling themselves from each other.
"Let's end this," Gavv responded, his tone flat. He preferred actions to extended conversations, especially during a fight.
The battle resumed, now a proper two-against-two. Ladybug moved with practiced fluidity, her yo-yo a blur of red and black as she deflected a volley of black arrows meant for Gavv. He returned fire with precise shots from the Chocodangun, the chocolate projectiles forcing Dark Cupid and Cat Noir to stay on the defensive, unable to launch a coordinated attack. They moved with an almost unsettling synchronization, a testament to Ladybug's strategic mind.
Cat Noir, still corrupted and enraged, lunged at Ladybug, his staff swinging wildly in wide, destructive arcs. She dodged, her movements fluid and practiced, a sad contrast to their usual easy teamwork. He was strong, still his partner, but filled with a bitter hatred that made him dangerous. She moved past him, using his aggression against Dark Cupid.
Gavv kept Dark Cupid occupied with a series of quick, targeted shots, each chocolate bolt hitting with a solid thwack. The villain reeled back, his wings fluttering to regain balance. Ladybug took the opening, her yo-yo sweeping low to trip Cat Noir, then springing back to cover Gavv from Dark Cupid's retaliatory arrows. It was an intricate dance, one that would have felt smoother if one of their partners was not actively trying to defeat them.
Seeing the stalemate, Ladybug knew a direct approach would not work. She threw her yo-yo high into the air, the red cord stretching upwards until the toy vanished into a swirl of crimson light.
"Lucky Charm!"
A large, heart-shaped cookie cutter materialized in a flash of light, dropping into her outstretched hand. She stared at it, her expression a mix of confusion and mild frustration.
"A cookie cutter? Now?" she muttered, turning the metal heart over in her fingers. The object gleamed under the Parisian night.
She looked around frantically, her eyes darting from the heart-shaped cutter to the chaotic battle, seeking the connection. Gavv was keeping Dark Cupid busy, forcing the akumatized villain to retreat with precise shots from the Chocodangun. Cat Noir, meanwhile, was still trying to close the distance with Ladybug, his staff extending and retracting with a malevolent clink. The heart shape… the villain's bow… an idea, clear and sudden, clicked into place. She knew what to do.
Ladybug glanced at Gavv, a spark of determined urgency in her eyes.
"Kamen Rider! Aim for the bow! Shatter it!"
Gavv understood immediately. He raised the Chocodangun, the barrel glowing with an intense, dark chocolate energy. The weapon hummed, a low, rhythmic sound building in its core.
[CHARGE ME! CHARGE ME!]
Dark Cupid saw the buildup. He pulled back his arm, firing a desperate volley of black arrows toward Gavv. Ladybug was already moving. She sprinted toward Cat Noir, dodging his wild, hateful swings with acrobatic flips. She got close enough to snag his long, black tail with her yo-yo string. She yanked hard, pulling Cat Noir off balance and directly into the path of Dark Cupid's arrows. Dark Cupid, startled, halted his fire to avoid hitting his corrupted ally.
"Now, Kamen Rider!" Ladybug yelled.
Gavv pulled the trigger.
[CHOCODAN FINISH!]
A massive, swirling vortex of dark chocolate energy erupted from the gun, shaped like a giant, jagged heart. It slammed into Dark Cupid's bow and quiver with incredible force, shattering them into a hundred splinters of wood and corrupted magic. The blast flung the akumatized brooch from Dark Cupid's chest, sending it spinning across the plaza.
CRACK!
The force of the impact made Gavv's arm ache. He watched Dark Cupid, now just Kim, stumble backwards, a look of bewilderment replacing the hatred on his face. The battle energy in the plaza slowly receded, leaving only the quiet aftermath.
The broken brooch clattered to the ground, a dull, metallic sound against the stone. Ladybug, quick as a cat, released Cat Noir's tail. She sprinted toward the brooch, her movements fluid and purposeful. She stomped her foot down, pinning the fractured metal before it could reform. She plucked the corrupted butterfly from the wreckage. Its black wings fluttered weakly against her gloved fingers.
"No more evil-doing for you, little akuma," she said, her voice gentle but firm, a ritual of comfort after the chaos. "Time to de-evilize!"
She opened her yo-yo, the red cap parting to reveal a swirling vortex of purifying energy within its core. The butterfly flew in, drawn by the light. Its dark color faded, transforming into a brilliant, glowing white as it was cleansed.
"Gotcha!"
She closed the yo-yo. A soft click echoed in the quiet plaza. She held it up for a moment, then opened it again.
"Bye bye, little butterfly!"
The purified butterfly fluttered away into the night sky, a small, white beacon of hope against the deepening twilight. Gavv watched it go, a strange, quiet sense of relief settling over him. It was a good feeling, the quiet triumph after the necessary violence.
Ladybug looked at Cat Noir, who was now slumped on the ground, the black on his lips fading back to normal. He blinked, a confused, groggy expression on his face. She looked at Kim, who was reverting to his human form, also looking dazed and disoriented, his athletic clothes replacing the villain's dark costume. Then, she looked at Gavv, who stood ready, his chocolate armor reflecting the ambient city lights. She still held the Lucky Charm, the heart-shaped cookie cutter, in her hand. She threw it high into the air.
"Miraculous Ladybug!"
A massive swarm of red, spotted ladybugs erupted from her yo-yo, swirling through the air like a shimmering river of light. They washed over the city, a gentle, magical wave. The broken flower stand by the plaza repaired itself, its petals unfurling in perfect bloom. The damaged rooftop of a nearby building mended, tiles sliding back into place. The scuff marks on the street vanished, the pavement smooth once more. The ladybugs flew into the people affected by the hate arrows, the black on their lips fading away, their expressions clearing from hatred to confusion to quiet relief. Juleka and Rose, standing in the plaza, blinked, their eyes slowly losing their glassy, hateful sheen. They looked at each other, then around the plaza, a deep confusion clouding their faces. The ladybugs swirled around Gavv, their magic washing over his Chocodan armor, sealing the small crack that had formed on his helmet and polishing the chocolate plates until they gleamed. The battle was over, leaving only the gentle hum of returning normalcy.
The purified butterfly fluttered away into the night sky, a small, white promise against the dimming Parisian lights. Gavv watched it go, the chocolate armor on his body a silent sentinel. He extended a small, prehensile portion of his Gavv from his abdomen, a dark blue tongue that pulsed with faint light. It stretched, then retracted, a minuscule spark of the akuma's energy absorbed. It was far less than what a corrupted akuma would offer, a mere whisper of power, but it was enough. He would file that information away, a quiet note in the back of his mind. Every detail, every interaction, held potential significance.
Cat Noir groaned softly, a low rumble of discomfort. He shook his head, pushing himself up from the ground with a slow, deliberate movement. The black stain on his lips had completely vanished, leaving them a normal, healthy pink. He blinked, confusion clouding his usually playful green eyes.
"My Lady, what… what happened?" he asked, his voice a little rough, but with its usual teasing lilt. "I feel like I just took a nap in the middle of a fight."
Ladybug, her expression a mix of relief and fond exasperation, landed beside him.
"Kamen Rider and I took down Dark Cupid," she explained concisely, her tone brisk and efficient. "You were not yourself for a bit, but we fixed it."
Cat Noir's eyes widened slightly, a genuine surprise crossing his features. He looked at his hands, then at the empty plaza.
"I don't remember any of it," he said, a troubled note in his voice. He looked around, as if searching for a missing piece of himself.
Just as Cat Noir prepared to ask more questions, a series of urgent beeps emanated from Ladybug's earrings, growing louder and more insistent with each passing second. Her eyes widened, a flicker of panic entering their blue depths.
"Oh, shoot, I'm almost out of time!" she exclaimed, her gaze darting towards Gavv for a split second before returning to Cat Noir. She spoke with a hint of apology, though her words were hurried. "I have to go!"
Cat Noir took a step forward, his playful demeanor replaced by a sudden, uncharacteristic earnestness.
"Wait, Ladybug! I gotta tell you something!" he pleaded, his voice a little louder than before.
Ladybug was already in motion. She swung her yo-yo with practiced grace, launching herself into the air, a red blur against the Parisian night.
"Sorry, Cat Noir, almost out of time. Maybe next time!" she called down, her voice fading quickly as she swung away, disappearing over the rooftops.
Cat Noir watched the spot where Ladybug had vanished, his shoulders visibly slumping. The playful mask he wore seemed to droop a little, revealing a flicker of something close to genuine disappointment beneath. Gavv had observed the rapid exchange, the hurried farewell, and the sudden departure. He had fulfilled his purpose; the akuma was purified, the immediate threat neutralized. There was no longer a need for Kamen Rider Gavv. He prepared to leave as well, turning his chocolate-armored back on the scene.
"Hey, Kamen Rider, wait up!" Cat Noir's voice, surprisingly earnest, cut through the quiet of the plaza.
Gavv paused, turning his helmeted head slightly. Cat Noir walked over, rubbing the back of his neck with a familiar, awkward gesture. The moonlight glinted off the golden bell at his throat.
"Look, I don't remember anything from when I was... you know."
Cat Noir gestured vaguely toward the spot where he had been under Dark Cupid's influence.
"Did I... did I do anything weird? Or say anything stupid?"
Gavv stood perfectly still, his chocolate armor gleaming softly under the ambient light of Paris. He processed the question, the implications of Cat Noir's innocent ignorance settling around them. The memory surfaced clearly: Ladybug chasing Cat Noir across the plaza, her voice pleading, his own movements filled with a desperate, visceral repulsion at the thought of a kiss. The scene had been comical in its frantic energy, yet laced with a subtle undercurrent of something deeply personal. He saw the genuine worry in Cat Noir's posture, the way his shoulders hunched almost imperceptibly. The boy beneath the mask, the Adrien he sometimes glimpsed in school hallways, was vulnerable now. To reveal the truth, the full extent of his "stupid" actions, would not serve any immediate purpose. It would only cause unnecessary pain. He decided to let the silence stretch for a moment, a small, deliberate pause before answering. It was a gentle kindness, this unspoken decision.
"No," Gavv said, his voice flat and even, filtered through the helmet's modulator. "Nothing important happened."
Cat Noir let out a huge sigh of relief, his entire posture relaxing visibly. The tension seemed to drain from him in a wave. He almost swayed with the sudden release.
"Oh, okay, that's good," he said, a wide, genuine smile spreading across his face. "For a second there, I was worried I'd made a total fool of myself. Thanks, man!"
He gave Gavv a friendly thumbs-up, his green eyes sparkling with a renewed, carefree energy. He seemed to bounce with a sudden burst of energy, as if the weight of an unspoken fear had been lifted.
"See you around!"
With that, Cat Noir extended his staff with a quick, practiced flick. He launched himself away, soaring gracefully across the rooftops, a dark, agile silhouette disappearing into the cityscape. Gavv watched him go, then turned and silently walked into the shadows of a nearby alley. The Chocodan armor shimmered, then dissolved, leaving only the quiet street and the distant city lights.
