A couple of days later, the public got a notification from the official Billie Eilish YouTube account, as well as her other socials that she posted her music on.
And one of those public individuals was Cam and Mitchell, who were both getting ready for their mornings, before they had seen the notifications on their phone. And were now sitting next to one another.
The video began, with a few words.
"This song is a bit different than my norm. Wanted to try something different. Something more...upbeat - Billie" The words said, as they began to hear jolly music play in the background, and both of them glanced at one another.
"...This'll be interesting"

As the beginning of Billie's new song "All I Want for Christmas is You" played, reactions around the world were...varied. Some were shocked by the complete difference in tone compared to her usual songs, some were...well, not exactly the biggest of fans, and some were huge fans.
But Billie had warned them in the beginning that it was going to be different, so she was not going to be too surprised about this fact.
In an apartment near CalTech, a man with glasses was listening as he sat upon his couch, comic book memorabilia around the room.
"Well...this is different"

"Definitely not anything like what she usually makes" Claire hummed, not sure how she felt about it. While Phil was cheerfully humming with the song, finding it to be incredibly catchy.
"Hey I think it's pretty good! Catchy and cheerful!" Phil said with a grin, as he continued to hum along.
In another part of the country, in an incredibly extravagant looking apartment, a dark haired girl hummed along with a happy smile on her face. Two other girls with her.
"Whoa, it's way different than her normal, don't you think Blaire?" One of the girls asked the dark haired girl who nodded.
"Oh definitely. But...it's good. All of her music is good"
"Yeah the best"
"For sure the best"
Blaire just rolled her eyes and continued to listen with a smile on her face, inwardly deciding she'd need to buy the record of this song to add to her growing Billie Eilish collection.

"She told me she was making something different, but this...is definitely not what I was expecting" Haley said in her bedroom, listening to the music. It was completely different to what she was expecting from Billie.
"Is that a bad thing?" Alex asked her sister, sitting next to her listening to it. She inwardly agreed that it was different, but the words in the beginning of the song did warn them that it was not going to be her usual sort of song.
"Hmmm, no. I like it, it's catchy. But it is not like her usual songs. I'm just a little surprised by it, that's all" Haley replied, genuinely enjoying the song, even if it was different than usual.
"On that we agree"
In yet another place, this time in a fancy mansion in Hollywood Hills, a teen sat, bobbing her head and humming along with the song.
"She really doesn't make a bad song, does she?" The teen whispered to herself with a smile on her face, a Billie Eilish poster on the wall behind her.

Reactions on the internet towards the song was continuing to remain decisive. Those that were listening were considering it either really good, or mediocre, and there really was not an in between. The song was already becoming iconic, and was rapidly getting more and more listens.
But it was also one of those songs that should only be listened to during the Christmas season, and afterwards it would just be annoying and not very good...like at all.
But that was exactly how it was in her past world. The song was loved and hated by a lot of people. But it was also listened to all around the world, with billions of views and was played at pretty much every Christmas event you could possibly think of.
Billie was watching all the reactions in her room, chuckling at the tweets that were going out about it.
"Going about as I was expecting" Billie said to herself, not even remotely surprised. She was fully anticipating this sort of reaction from the public. She wasn't mad or anything, as she sure as hell was not about to complain about this sort of thing.
It was still going to make her a ton of money either way.

"So what's the overall thoughts on the new Billie song?" A comment stated on Twitter. This one was "BillieStan10020"
"It's different from her normal. Like...completely different. But it is insanely catchy, even if artistically it's not on the same level as her other music" A comment responded to BillieStan10020.
"Not personally a fan. But I can sort of see the appeal that it can have for others. Probably one of those songs that it just matters on the person for" Another comment said.

"Man, even if it's not on the same level as some of her other songs, it is still damn catchy!" Mitchell said with a smile on his face as the song was incredibly upbeat and perfect for Christmas.
"Oooh definitely gonna be added to my Christmas playlist! A classic in the making!" Cam exclaimed with a bright smile on his own face, it sounded like just the type of song that was missing from his usual Christmas song playlist that he played every year.
It would be a regular from now on.
"It'll also be a classic that's going to get very old after a few years" Mitchell added, which Cam rolled his eyes at.
"Oh don't be such a drag. I'm sure it'll only get better every year from now on" Cam responded, waving off the man's words.

As the song came to an end, Billie sat in her living room, sipping on her hot cocoa with a pleased smile on her face, as the song had already received tens of millions of views and it hadn't even been an hour yet.
She expected it to hit a billion views within a couple of weeks.
She also fully was expecting it to become her most listened to song so far, since it was going to be easily listened to by...well, everyone that celebrated Christmas, which was a lot of people around the world, in many different countries.
And as Billie saw all the reviews with her smile on her face, she had only one thought on her mind.
'Looks like I've got another platinum song coming my way!'
