I walk out of the room and was greeted by the sight of fire, and more fire. We're stuck, if I get even a little bit touched by that. I'd go up in flames. I have no clue what to do and Nicolas is passed out in my arms. Meaning if anything else happens he is dead before me.
I walk slowly on the fire burning bridge and even though we're roughly more likely to survive I still shiver with every step I take. Nicolas is slowly awakening, though his eyes seem too heavy for him to keep open.
"Alister?" he rasps, it makes me realize how drained he is, it took him over an hour to get Hamish to relax around him.
"I am here, forever and always"
"You're acting all tough again, you're shaking more than-" then he is asleep again, he has been the one who had held everything up for the past week. Our marriage was the main thing he was focused on, so he missed the fact the Jenna was Caidee's daughter until the last minute. That makes my heart flutter, he put me first.
I made sure there was nothing that could of stopped me though I was wrong, very wrong. Nicolas stopped me by standing up, leaping out of my arms and whispering "The vamp-fire thing isn't a myth is it?"
"It isn't" Nicolas scoops me up and I nuzzle into his neck, he's warm, and I'm so, so warm. As he ran he kept making sure I was secure in his embrace.
The fire never made it even three meters within our presence. Nicolas made sure of it at least. Nicolas smiled at me as I stared at him in a daze, it was as if I was floating. I waited for ages until he watched me when we were in safe ground, he made sure it was clean and stable to stand on before walking on and on, not putting me down. Wait…why isn't he putting me down?!
"Nicolas, put me down!"
"No"
"Why?"
"…"
"Nicolas"
"Yes?"
"Please, put me down"
"Why do you want to go down? Didn't you yourself carry me like this?"
"I did"
"So, let me do this at least until we're away from fire"
I watch him in awe until the flames make his hair seem like a dark shadow, it makes me smile. I wrap my arms around his neck making sure I won't fall and Nicolas lets out a dark laugh before he climbs up steps his hold on me not too light and not too firm.
I can't wait any longer, I peck his cheek before hiding in his arms not moving for a while. When I finally look up at Nicolas his face is brighter than ever and he had taken me to the park near my house. How'd he know his way here?
"Nicolas…"
"Yes?"
"How'd you know where I live?"
"I live here too, remember? I never thought we would want to interrupt Caidee and Jenna getting along." Nicolas' voice is light and he is sure that he'd be a burden
