Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Price og Being Noticed

Chapter 6: The Price of Being Noticed

The world didn't sleep anymore.

Since the system's arrival, night had become the most dangerous time. Dungeons appeared without warning. Players hunted monsters—and sometimes each other.

And somewhere in the chaos, guilds were being born.

The First Guilds Rise

A massive holographic screen lit up the sky.

[Global Notice]

Guild System Unlocked

Players may now form factions.

Cheers erupted across the city.

Within hours, names spread like wildfire.

Radiant Dawn – Led by Lee Min-Seok

Heaven's Balance – Elite-only recruitment

Iron Wall – Defense-focused guild

Kang Tae-Hyun watched the announcements from a quiet rooftop.

"…Already moving fast," he muttered.

In his past life, Radiant Dawn would become the strongest guild—built on Tae-Hyun's achievements and blood.

This time?

He wouldn't let that happen.

An Invitation

A message window appeared before him.

[Guild Invitation]

Sender: Lee Min-Seok

Guild: Radiant Dawn

Message: "Join us. The world needs people like you."

Kang Tae-Hyun stared at it for a moment.

Then—

Decline.

He didn't hesitate.

"Oh?" Tae-Hyun said softly. "You noticed me sooner than I expected."

Another message arrived almost instantly.

"We can talk in person."

Kang Tae-Hyun smiled faintly.

So you want to see me up close.

The Assassination Attempt

Later that night, Kang Tae-Hyun walked alone through an empty street.

The air felt wrong.

Too quiet.

There, he thought.

A killing intent surged.

Three shadows dropped from the rooftops.

Players.

Masked.

Weapons drawn.

One lunged without warning.

Kang Tae-Hyun sidestepped casually.

The blade missed by centimeters.

"Who sent you?" he asked calmly.

No answer.

They attacked together.

Spells, blades, skills—everything fired at once.

Kang Tae-Hyun didn't draw his sword.

He stepped forward.

One punch.

The ground cracked.

All three attackers were slammed into the pavement, unconscious in an instant.

Not dead.

But broken.

He crouched beside one and whispered:

"Tell your master this."

He pressed a finger lightly against the man's forehead.

A wave of pressure crushed the ground.

"…I don't take warnings."

The attackers fled, dragging their comrades away.

A system message appeared.

[Hidden Condition Met]

PvP Victory (No Kill)

Reputation: Unknown Variable

Seo-Ah's Worry

Back at their temporary safe house, Yoon Seo-Ah waited anxiously.

"You're bleeding," she said, rushing toward him.

"It's not mine," Kang Tae-Hyun replied.

She hesitated, then looked up at him.

"People are scared of you," she said quietly. "They're saying you're… dangerous."

He met her eyes.

"I am."

She flinched.

Then shook her head.

"But you saved them," she said. "I saw it. I felt it."

For a moment, Kang Tae-Hyun didn't speak.

"…Don't trust rumors," he finally said. "Trust actions."

Seo-Ah nodded slowly.

A Name Without a Guild

Later that night, Oh Seung-Ho approached him nervously.

"Guild leaders are asking about you," Seung-Ho said. "They want to know why someone like you isn't joining anyone."

Kang Tae-Hyun looked at the city below.

"I don't need a guild," he said.

A system window appeared.

[Title Unlocked]

Lone Variable

Effect: Immune to faction-based debuffs

His eyes narrowed.

"…Or rather," he corrected himself, "they'll join me."

In the distance, Radiant Dawn's headquarters glowed brightly.

Lee Min-Seok stood at the top, smiling for the cameras.

Kang Tae-Hyun turned away.

Enjoy your spotlight, he thought coldly.

It won't last.
