Nyra did not go far after leaving Selena.
She disappeared into the trees just beyond the clearing, moving quietly until the forest swallowed her presence completely, then stopped where the shadows were thick enough to conceal her.
From there, she turned back, her gaze settling on the clearing she had just left, her expression calm, patient, as though she were waiting for something she already knew would happen.
She didn't have to wait long.
At first, there was nothing but the sound of movement—subtle, deliberate, easy to miss if one wasn't paying attention. Then the rogues stepped into view, one after another, emerging from the trees like they had always been there, their attention fixed on a single target.
Selena.
Nyra's lips curved slightly, satisfaction flickering through her as she leaned back against the tree, arms folding loosely across her chest as she watched the moment unfold.
Selena didn't run.
That almost made Nyra laugh.
