Aria Knight was on her way home one day, walking through a quiet street in her home town. Aria is a 17 year old girl with long golden blond wavy hair and piercing blue eyes. She's fairly tall at the height of 5ft 9in tall. Many would describe her as pretty looking but ordinary as well. "Another day of feeling mediocre and left behind in a world of people with amazing abilities." She had finished her classes for the day at her local high-school and felt as if something was missing in life.

The world significantly changed about 10 years ago. Portals suddenly started appearing with monsters and supernatural beings beginning to come out of them after a certain period of time had passed. With the arrival of these monster was another event that would change humanity forever. Shortly after the first portals appeared, some people began to awaken powers and abilities through their ancient bloodlines. A large amount of humans had a miniscule amount of DNA from mythological beings tucked away and hidden within their blood. These very bloodlines began to bubble to the surface as a self defense mechanism to defend humanity against these creatures, that seemed to only want to harm humans. Finally humans were able to push back and bring back some order to the world through the use of Guilds and the government agencies created to combat these beings from the portals. As monsters were defeated, the world discovered that their bodies contained elements and materials that were used to enhance their technology and infrastructure. Overall the world had progressed a lot over the last 10 years.
As for Aria, life was still fairly normal at this point. She is being raised by her older brother Ben who was 7 years older than her. Unfortunately he was all she had left for family after a monster attack took their parents away from them, when a portal opened close to their home. Aria and Ben were at school when it happened, so they survived unlike their parents. The government had taken care of them until Ben became 18 and was able to take care of Aria on his own. Ben began to work right out of high-school to look after Aria. They have a close relationship overall and Aria wishes she could help him out sometime.
Aria turned around a corner and was heading through an older park near their apartment building in the outskirts of downtown Lorendale. As she walked through the park there wasn't a single person around. All of a sudden she heard a strange hum noise, a sound that she had never heard before. It was almost ethereal and musical at the same time. This humming noise grew louder as a ball of light suddenly appeared in front of her. Aria fell backwards out of suprise and onto the ground. The little ball of radiant light lowered in front of her on the ground and hovered there while emanating a lovely hum. After the initial startle Aria just experienced, she began to observe this odd object that seemed to come from the sky. It was pulsing as though alive and gave off an aura of brilliance.
"What in the world are you?"
Aria couldn't help herself as she reached her hand out toward the strange floating object in front of her, throwing all caution to the wind. She somehow felt like it wouldn't harm her. As her finger made contact with the item, it began to glow even brighter and then was somehow absorbed into her body. Aria then blacked out as something within her blood began to stir.
