First World: Re:Zero — Starting Life in Another World … [Supporting-Character Popularity-First System successfully bound.] “Hm?” “Kids these days really don’t know their place.” Walking down the street with his close friend, Suguru Geto, Gojo Satoru tipped his head back and sipped his drink, shaking his head with an exasperated sigh. “They actually said I’m a supporting character. Seriously—oh my.” “What is it, Satoru?” Suguru Geto looked at him, puzzled. “Nothing.” “Just some young sorcerer with no sense of the sky’s height used a weird technique on me.” Gojo waved it off like it was nothing. “Calling me a supporting character, of all things.” [Proceed to the first world and carry out the Popularity-First mission?] [Popularity gained during the mission can be exchanged for any items from your original world and any worlds you have traveled to.] “Oh?” “So there’s more to it?” Gojo raised an eyebrow. “Alright, then. Let’s give it a try—see what new tricks you’ve got.” “If it’s not fun, I will spank you, you know.” “And if you call me a supporting character again… I might actually get a little angry.” [Confirmation received. Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Supporting-Character Popularity-First System

[Supporting-Character Popularity-First System binding successful!]

Pale blue text suddenly hovered in the center of his vision—like a phantom projection conjured by some technique—carrying a cheap, electronic feel.

Satoru Gojo blinked behind the black sunglasses covering his eyes, a spark of amused interest flashing through his gaze.

"Tch."

He clicked his tongue, wearing the effortless nonchalance typical of someone his age.

Gojo casually swirled the iced drink in his hand. The orange liquid traced a shallow arc along the clear plastic cup, and cold condensation slid down the surface, dampening his pale fingertips.

"Jujutsu sorcerers these days really have no manners."

He drew out the last word, as if he were commenting on something entertaining.

"Huh?"

Walking half a step ahead with a slight hunch, Suguru Geto froze and slowly turned his head.

His long black hair lay over his shoulders; the stray bangs at his forehead shimmered faintly under the sun. He looked back with a thoroughly puzzled expression. "What are you suddenly going on about?"

Gojo tipped his head back and sucked hard through the straw. The "gugugugu" of gulping was unusually loud on the quiet street.

The icy sweetness slid down his throat, easing the afternoon heat.

At Geto's question, he finished the drink in one go. With a little pressure from his fingers, the empty cup went crunch—flattened with a sharp bap.

With a flick of his wrist, the crushed plastic sailed out with a faint whistle, arcing more than ten meters before landing dead-on—clang—deep inside the roadside trash can.

"Nothing much." Gojo waved at Geto, his palm drawing an easy curve through the air, voice still casual. "Just some idiot who doesn't know their place tried a weird technique on me."

He tilted his head, and this time his tone carried a trace of genuine annoyance. "And they even called me some kind of supporting character. That's… kind of irritating."

Technique? Supporting character?

Geto frowned, scratching the back of his head, an odd look crossing his face.

Someone dared to make a move on Gojo Satoru—were they out of their mind?

"Sounds like they picked the wrong opponent," Geto shrugged, his trust undisguised.

He knew Gojo's strength too well. A no-name technique, a special-grade curse—either way, the one who'd suffer would never be Gojo.

With that, Geto couldn't be bothered to spend more attention on such a ridiculous matter. He turned back around and continued toward the dessert shop ahead, shoulders still slouched—because the whole point of coming out was to help Gojo buy a limited-edition strawberry cake.

As for Gojo… worrying about him was the last thing anyone needed to do.

"Let me see what gave you the courage to use me as an experiment."

He wasn't truly angry—if anything, he was curious. After all, the stronger he became, the fewer things in the world still felt interesting.

But just as he was about to get a little serious—track down the coward hiding in the shadows and "educate" them properly—the pale blue text in front of him shifted again, line after line appearing in rapid succession.

[Do you wish to travel to the first world and begin a popularity-first mission?]

[Popularity earned during the mission can be exchanged for any item from your current world or any world you have traveled to.]

"Hm?" Gojo raised an eyebrow. The hand that had been hanging lazily at his side paused. "Travel to another world?"

He took two steps forward to where Geto had been standing, eyes sweeping the shops lining the street, his tone turning lightly teasing and languid. "Sounds pretty nice. Though it kind of feels like a scam commercial you'd see on TV."

His fingers brushed through the white hair by his ear—soft, smooth. Gojo stretched in an exaggerated yawn; his joints gave a faint crack, his whole posture loose with a half-awake ease.

"Meh. Whatever."

"I'll try it and see."

He tilted his head. Behind the lenses, the Six Eyes glinted with playful anticipation, his voice carrying a joking threat. "Hope you don't disappoint me. If you do, I'm going to spank you, you know~"

The moment the words left his mouth, the pale blue text flickered violently, as if responding.

[Confirmation request received. Beginning first-world travel… Destination confirmed… Re:ZERO − Starting Life in Another World… Initiating travel… Travel successful!]

The text continued to flash.

When he finished reading and lifted his gaze from the words Travel successful, he realized everything around him had already changed.

Gojo stood, momentarily blank, on a completely unfamiliar street. European-style buildings he'd never seen before surrounded him, and lively conversation buzzed in his ears.

In the span of a heartbeat, everything had transformed.

"Oh?"

Faced with such abrupt and astonishing change, Gojo recovered quickly.

He looked around at the environment and the people moving through the street, then pushed up the sunglasses on the bridge of his nose.

"The details on this illusion are pretty solid."

He bent down, picked up a small stone, and idly rolled it between his fingers.

The sensation at his fingertips was unnervingly real.

He dropped it, then pressed down with the tip of his shoe—crack—the crisp sound traveling through the sole.

"So it can simulate touch and sound this realistically." Gojo's interest sharpened. "That's actually kind of impressive."

"And it's got style, too. A full-on fantasy world."

He watched the passing crowd. Among the pedestrians weren't only humans—there were plenty of strange-looking figures as well, like beastfolk straight out of a fantasy novel.

Carriages moved along the road too, but the animals pulling them weren't horses—more like large lizard-like creatures, roughly horse-sized.

Everything felt new and curious.

At first, Gojo had only planned to deal with this so-called technique casually. Now, though, his curiosity had grown.

"If it's an illusion, it can't be perfect everywhere."

He rotated his wrist, ready to stroll through this peculiar "illusion" properly.

Like a tourist, he found himself wanting to explore everything.

Before long—

He spotted something familiar at a roadside stall.

A fruit stand.

And unless his eyes were lying… those were apples.

"Apples in an isekai too?" Gojo muttered, amused. "That's not very rigorous, is it?"
