...

Damian had never intended to cause trouble inside the Pokémon Center.

No matter how wealthy his family was, it meant nothing compared to the Joy family. He couldn't afford the consequences of offending them.

"Come with me," Sam said calmly. "We'll go to the battlefield behind the building."

The venue had already been chosen.

"Hahaha, just what I wanted!" Damian replied with a fierce grin.

Besides Sam, Damian, and Damian's group of lackeys, most of the people inside the Pokémon Center followed them outside. Clearly, no one wanted to miss this excitement.

When Damian saw the battlefield surrounded by water on all sides, his mood instantly improved.

He was the kind of person who loved to show off in front of others. That was exactly why he spent money keeping so many useless followers around. Just imagining himself showing off in front of this crowd made his blood boil with excitement.

He casually flipped his hair with one hand, wearing an expression full of confidence.

For some reason, Sam suddenly felt like laughing.

Had this guy been flattered for so long that he truly forgot who he was? Did he actually believe he was a powerful Trainer now?

It was ridiculous.

Sam didn't want to waste time on someone like this. He intended to end the battle as quickly as possible.

"I'll be the referee for this match!"

"Nurse Joy?"

Sam was a little surprised. He hadn't expected Nurse Joy to follow them out and volunteer to referee.

Sure enough, even she couldn't resist watching the excitement.

With a referee present, everything was ready. All that remained was to defeat his opponent.

Before the battle officially began, Sam looked at Damian coldly.

"Do you know why I came to find you?"

"Why?" Damian laughed arrogantly. "Isn't it because you're jealous that I'm richer and better than you?"

Sam laughed, shook his head, and said nothing more. This was honestly the first time he had seen someone so blindly arrogant.

He no longer wanted to waste words on Damian and directly threw a Poké Ball.

A red flash of light burst forth, and Charmander appeared on the battlefield.

The moment Charmander appeared, the surrounding crowd let out a wave of exclamations.

As one of the three starter Pokémon of the Kanto region, Charmander held an extremely special status in the eyes of ordinary Trainers.

"Char."

Charmander glanced at Damian with a complicated expression, then quickly steadied itself and stood firm.

At that moment, Damian finally understood what was going on.

He clutched his stomach and burst out laughing.

"I was wondering what kind of Pokémon you'd use—so it's that Charmander I threw away! Hahahaha! Your taste is really something. You even picked up the trash I didn't want. What are you, a garbage collector?"

Hearing Damian's ridicule, Sam only looked at him with a faintly sympathetic gaze.

Being able to abandon a Charmander with Champion-level potential… Damian could be considered a rare kind of "talent." If this wasn't stupidity, then stupidity probably didn't exist in this world.

"Tch!" Seeing that his words didn't provoke Sam at all, Damian grew irritated. "Just wait. You'll soon understand why I abandoned it."

Sam silently shook his head.

Who in their right mind openly bragged about abandoning their own Pokémon? Didn't this idiot notice the way people around him were starting to look at him?

Especially Nurse Joy—disgust was clearly written in her eyes. Among all Trainers, the Joy family hated nothing more than those who abandoned their Pokémon.

"Are you done with your nonsense?" Nurse Joy said sharply. "Hurry up and send out your Pokémon!"

Damian still hadn't realized her disgust. He even gave Nurse Joy what he thought was a charming smile before lazily tossing out a Poké Ball.

"Go, Raticate."

When Sam saw the bloated Raticate that waddled onto the field, he fell completely silent.

At that moment, he finally understood why that other Trainer had shown such disdain when Damian's name was mentioned.

Honestly, it was impossible to look down on someone like this too much.

Just the fact that Damian had raised a Charmander with such incredible potential to the point where it couldn't even beat a Poliwag was proof enough.

Sam activated his detection ability.

[Pokémon]: Raticate

[Attribute]: Normal

[Strength]: Ordinary mid-level

[Potential]: Elite

The panel showed an ordinary mid-level Pokémon, but Sam seriously doubted this Raticate could even display half of that strength.

Looking at the Pokémon on both sides, even the most ignorant spectator could tell who would win.

A Charmander with firm muscles and burning determination—versus a Raticate bloated with fat.

Aside from Damian and his lackeys, no one believed Damian had even the slightest chance of winning.
