Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Flames of Revenge

Guys it's a new week, so let's set a goal for this week, top 100 and i will drop 4 Chapters maybe even more.

...

An abandoned Pokémon finding a new Trainer and returning for revenge, this was the kind of plot that usually only appeared in TV dramas.

Yet here it was, unfolding right before everyone's eyes.

Although neither Pokémon was particularly strong, the spectators were still brimming with excitement, afraid to blink lest they miss a single moment.

The battle officially began amid the crowd's eager anticipation.

To Sam, this so-called "revenge match" had already lost most of its meaning the moment he saw his opponent. If it weren't for Charmander's own insistence on settling things properly, Sam wouldn't have even bothered to step onto the battlefield.

A Trainer like Damian simply wasn't worth his effort. Crushing him with sheer strength would be more than enough.

"Charmander, use Flamethrower."

Unlike Sam, Charmander treated this battle with absolute seriousness.

It had a strong sense of pride. It refused to let this confrontation end half-heartedly. It wanted Damian to understand one thing clearly,

Abandoning it was the worst decision he had ever made in his life.

Anger became Charmander's fuel.

The flame on its tail suddenly flared violently, blazing far brighter than before. This was the Blaze Ability.

Normally, Blaze only activated when a Fire-type Pokémon's stamina dropped to a critical level, but this time, it triggered right at the very start of the battle.

It was nothing short of a miracle.

Several experienced Trainers in the crowd immediately cried out in shock.

"What's going on?! That's Blaze, right? Why did it activate before Charmander was exhausted?"

"I've heard that Fire-type Pokémon with extremely high talent can trigger Blaze at will. If that's true, then this Charmander's potential must be terrifying."

Their murmurs reached Damian's ears, and he almost laughed out loud.

A bunch of ignorant amateurs, that's all.

High talent? Please. This was just a Charmander that couldn't even beat a Poliwag.

Today, he would prove to everyone that abandoning it had been the right choice.

"Raticate!" Damian shouted arrogantly. "Use Hyper Fang and finish that Charmander!"

In the past, Damian usually used Raticate to bully his own lackeys. To curry favor with him, they would deliberately lose, over and over again. Over time, this had given Damian, and Raticate, the illusion that they were truly invincible.

Facing Charmander's full-powered Flamethrower, Raticate didn't even try to dodge. Instead, it charged straight into the sea of flames.

In Damian's mind, it would burst through the fire and deal a fatal blow.

Reality, however, was cruel.

The moment Raticate rushed into the Flamethrower, it sensed that something was terribly wrong.

What… what's happening?

Shouldn't these flames have dispersed instantly, like always?

With a brain no bigger than a walnut, Raticate couldn't understand.

And it didn't need to.

The raging flames completely engulfed its body. Its fur ignited, and under the relentless burning, a sharp, unpleasant smell filled the air.

Sam could even smell scorched flesh.

Damian's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Impossible!" he screamed hysterically. "You cheated! There's no way that Charmander could beat my Raticate!"

The moment those words left his mouth, the crowd erupted in anger.

To Trainers, battles were sacred. Damian's behavior, losing disgracefully and then accusing the other side, was utterly intolerable.

"What nonsense are you talking about?! You lost, so accept it!"

"Exactly! Can't even afford to lose, disgusting."

"Hahaha, what did you expect from someone who abandons their own Pokémon? Shameless behavior suits him perfectly."

"Seriously, is this guy brain-dead? He actually threw away a Charmander with this kind of talent."

"Don't try to understand him. You can't reason with trash."

Damian's accusation instantly sparked public outrage, and curses rang out from all sides.

Even with skin as thick as his, Damian couldn't withstand so much ridicule.

He wanted to escape.

Yet at the same time, he was unwilling to leave like this.

This battle had made one thing painfully clear to him,

The Charmander he had abandoned wasn't weak at all. It was outstanding.

His gaze turned vicious and jealous as he looked at Sam and Charmander celebrating their victory together.

That Charmander had been his.

That victory should have been his.

Sam was just a thief who stole everything that belonged to him.

People with twisted minds never blame themselves. Damian never once thought that abandoning Charmander was the reason for all this. Instead, he placed every bit of blame on others.

Ignoring the badly injured Raticate lying on the ground, Damian staggered toward Charmander.

He forced what he thought was a gentle smile onto his face and spoke in a soft, coaxing voice:

"I'm sorry, Charmander. It was all my fault."

"Come home with me."
