Synopsis
Death Guarantor. The name given to the super weapon capable of erasing whole planets, and— less coincidentally— the name given to this human rights nightmare of a tournament run by the planetary coalition.  Forty planets all forced to compete, each allowed to allocate four Mech pilots to fight for them. Once all four pilots die, their planet meets the same fate. The fighting ends when only five planets remain. Riko Rexton wasn’t chosen to represent a planet. He was sentenced. A convicted pirate with only ten days left to live. Riko was chained to mech and told to fight for a world that isn’t his.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

Humanity learned to measure time by watching it fall.

Well at least gravity did most of the work for them. It pulled the sand downwards, pulled shadows across stone, pulled days into nights with comforting consistency every time. Time moved because Earth demanded it.

The Hourglass.

Two chambers. One direction. A promise that above will eventually transfer below.

But when humanity left that world. The sand stopped obeying by those standards.

In orbit, nothing falls. There is no down to surrender to. An hourglass becomes decoration—beautiful yet useless.

So humanity abandoned letting time fall and instead replaced grain for numbers.

Digits blink without warning. Seconds vanish without weight.
