"Celine, listen to me just once," Leo said, his voice hoarse and strained with the weight of his emotions.
"Don't come any closer!" Celine screamed, her voice shrill and breaking. She pressed the emergency button beside her bed repeatedly with a trembling thumb. "Security! Help!"
Leo dropped to his knees beside Celine's bed, reaching out to grasp her hand, but she pulled away violently as if his touch were a flame searing her skin.
"All those documents, all the evidence I gave to the prosecutor, it was to free you from my father, Celine! I destroyed Richard so we could start over!" Leo groaned, the veins in his neck bulging as he struggled to convince his wife.
Celine stared at Leo with eyes wet from the tears of rage. "Start over? You destroyed my life for ten years, Leo! You locked me up, you lied to me, and now you come here violating a court order just to satisfy your obsession?"
