Tell me why this day has been absolute hell. Seriously it's been one thing after another. It started off just fine, maybe even great. Had a light day in Midtown high, then another light day at CUNY. I thought I'd get a head start on my physics homework. Nope, gotta go to a white supremacist meeting. After? Let's head to my best friend's place nah he's out we'll meet in Chinatown. Cool white boy out after dark in Harlem and gotta take the subway friend group to the rescue! The night was looking up nope, life just throws the Duel in Harlem at me though now I see James was trying to warn me off without being weird. I got my powers and memories! Racists force us to flee before I can sort through my memories.
Now, of all things to be confronted by I'm confronted by a group I thought didn't exist in the MCU. I mean, I know later down the line they were introducing mutants just thought mutations would gradually come about. Nope here stands before me a squad of the Merlocks. Blink, who definitely should have come in a later generation and not even part of the group, Shatter, Caliban, Sack, and the leader herself Callisto. I just hope she doesn't decide to do what she did to Angel in the comics to me.

I mean yes she looks like Fan Bingbing, but way more comic accurate. Her skin is conpletely lilac, her eyes green with no pupils, her ears pointed. Just because she looks somewhat Asian she's in his strike zone? He even disregarded the supposed to be ex-model right beside her! Callista's eye patch defintely doesn't diminish hear beauty. Lorena as always does her duty and smacks Rico upside the head. The Murlocks are dumbfounded, Blink herself looks to be blushing? Dang the red still shows up on her cheeks well Yup she is cute, but I'm surprised her other features didn't even slow Rico down.
"Ow! What was that for sis? Can't you see I'm trying to ask a lady out?"
Another smack on the head, but surprisingle Blink responds, "I -I uh am flattered but I don't really like to go out in public."
"No problem I can come over with food, or let I can cook you rhe best tacos in NY. You just tell me where and when."
"Ahem." Callisto gets our attention. "As amusing as this is we have more important matters. We are here to rescue the young mutant, with an appearance like that you won't have a good time in public. Just like us, you would need shelter. We can provide you and a safe place with others like you. And the rest of you, are you all not afraid of us?"
We all shook our heads. D speaking up "Lady look at us, you may not understand being white and all. Everyone here has been judged by appearance before, and have had issues with the "beautiful" white people, no offense Ivanna and Josh."
"Uh did you just call me beautiful? Yeah if you hadn't noticed there's literal giants wrecking Harlem. Rico here would probably have tried to befriend them if they weren't so violent. I joke about him collecting all the miniroties like Pokemon but he's genuine about it," I said.
Lorena giggles "gotta befriend them all."
"I would appreciate getting the hell out of here, but I'm honestly fine with my friends. They didn't even blink when they saw me turn gold, though they did make a joke"
"Do you not know how society would treat one such as you?"
"Hah we all know too well what it would be like. What are you offerring besides sanctuary? I mean maybe I can go around doing cosplay it would suck being the guy so geeky he's always in cosplay but could be worse. I mean look at her (pointing to Blink) she could probably pass as a Warcraft character. Heck just find a fictional character you bear a small resemblance to and you could blend in, well not completely but still its something."
They just stared at me like the thought never occured to them... I mean seriously guys as Harrison from Leverage always says age of the geek baby. It's not too common yet, but most of these guys would fit right in in most conventions. I honestly just don't know how Sack can pull off fooling everyone that he's in costume there's no way anyone would believe that gelatinous body of his is a costume.
"i'm not opposed to having a safe community to fall back to, or maybe even live in. But, how do you handle food? What's leadership like? How much freedom would I get? Would I be able to see my friends frequently? I mean hopefully Rico can visit the girl but what about outside? They're parents I'm sure wouldn't mind the skin change. Well I may be a little worried they think I'm made of real gold. I'd rather have freedom than a glorified jail cell, even if it's a little more dangerous.'
"You bring up some good points, how about we discuss it someplace a little less public?"
"Oh? Where is that? Can my friends come? Can you guarantee safety and can I leave if I find the terms disagreeable?"
"Blink here will open up the path to our place, and we can show you around. You will be perfectly safe, and I assure you you are free to leave afterwards with your friends."
I look at my friends, and they nod at me. "Okay, lead the way."
With that Blink makes the same gesture as in the movie and opens up a portal leading to some place dark.
