CHAPTER 80: ESCALATION
Selene's POV
Ronan met us at the gate, in full tactical gear, his expression carrying the specific compression of someone who had been managing an evolving situation and had reached the point where managing it required more authority than a Beta alone could bring to bear.
"It's gotten larger," he said without preamble, falling into step beside us as we moved toward the tactical room.
"How much larger?"
"The initial eight scouts withdrew at 1140 as I said. By 1200 they were replaced." He held the tactical room door. "Not scouts this time. Thirty wolves. Armed. Established at three positions along the eastern border — not crossing, not yet, but holding the line with the kind of formation that isn't designed for observation."
"It's designed for entry," Damon said.
