Chapter 91 - Epilogue

Jay's POV:

Years had passed, and everyone had grown up.

Our little princess, Kaira, was five years old now. Kegain and Kerein had grown up, too, and Kegain was even engaged to his girlfriend.

Mica and Calix were married, Percy and Honey had started dating, and Aries and Ella were engaged as well.

As for Keifer and me, we had completed college while raising our little princess together. Now, I worked at Keifer's company, handling all the marketing departments.

Sometimes, I still couldn't believe how much our lives had changed.

If someone had told me years ago that I would end up marrying Keifer watson , I would have laughed in their face.

That boy used to be my biggest headache.

We fought over everything. We argued over the smallest things, challenged each other at every opportunity, and somehow always found a reason to get on each other's nerves.

Back then, I couldn't even imagine spending a whole day with him without wanting to strangle him.

And now?

I couldn't imagine a life without him.

Our journey hadn't been easy. We had faced so many things together, gone through moments that tested our relationship, and experienced days when life felt much harder than we had expected.

But through every difficult moment, we had stayed.

He stayed beside me, and I stayed beside him.

We grew up together, learned from our mistakes, and slowly understood that love wasn't always about grand gestures or perfect moments.

Sometimes, love was simply having someone hold your hand when everything felt like it was falling apart.

And Keifer had always been that person for me.

"Papa..."

A tiny whisper pulled me out of my thoughts.

I slowly opened my eyes and peeked beside me.

Kaira was gently shaking Keifer, trying to wake him up.

"Papa, wake up. I'm hungry," she whispered before glancing at me.

I immediately closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep.

"Yes, baby?" Keifer mumbled, slowly opening his eyes.

"Papa, I'm hungry."

"Didn't your mumma tell you to eat your dinner properly? You said you were full!"

"Yeah, but now I'm hungry. Pleaseee, Papa! I want pizza!"

Keifer looked at her little pout and sighed.

"Okay, but if your mama catches us, she'll beat both of us."

"Please, Papa!"

"Okay, okay. Let's go before she wakes up."

I heard them quietly leaving the room.

I opened my eyes and shook my head with a smile.

"That father and daughter..."

I got out of bed and followed them downstairs.

And there they were, sitting on the couch and ordering pizza on Keifer's phone.

"Yesss! Done!" Kaira exclaimed, giving her father a high five.

"Ohhh."

I crossed my arms.

Their smiles disappeared immediately.

They slowly turned towards me, looking like two children who had just been caught doing something forbidden.

"Mama, I'm sorryyy!"

Kaira ran towards me and hugged my legs.

I couldn't help but smile.

"It's okay, princess. But next time, wake me up. I'll cook something for you."

"But I don't wanna eat vegetables! I want pizza!"

I looked at Keifer.

He simply smiled at me.

"Ah, just like her father. Both of you are pizza lovers."

"Come on, Mamaaa! Let's have a pizza party! It's just us!" Kaira pleaded.

I sighed before finally nodding.

"Fine. But don't make this a habit."

"YAYYYYY!"

Keifer grinned at me.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing, sweetheart."

"Keep smiling like that, and I'll cancel your pizza."

His smile disappeared instantly.

Kaira burst out laughing.

"Papa is scared of Mama!"

"Excuse me? Your papa isn't scared of anyone!"

"Then why did you stop smiling?"

I laughed so hard that I had to sit down.

Some things really never changed.

We ordered our pizza and settled on the couch. Since Kegain and Kerein weren't home, it was just the three of us that night.

We played games, ate pizza, and listened to Kaira talk about everything that had happened at school.

She told us about her friends, her teacher, and how she had shared her crayons with a little girl who had forgotten hers.

Keifer listened to every word with a smile, occasionally asking questions that made her even more excited.

After a while, Kaira turned towards him.

"Papa, how did you and Mama meet?"

Keifer and I exchanged looks.

"Oh, princess," I muttered. "You have no idea what you're asking."

"Why, Mama?"

"Because your papa was the most annoying boy I've ever met."

"WHAT?" Keifer exclaimed. "I was the most handsome boy you've ever met!"

I rolled my eyes.

"See? This is exactly what I'm talking about."

Kaira giggled.

"Then why did you marry him, Mama?"

I opened my mouth, ready to answer, but Keifer spoke first.

"Because she fell in love with me."

I immediately turned towards him.

"IN YOUR DREAMS, WATSON!"

He laughed.

"Okay, sweetheart. Whatever helps you sleep at night."

I narrowed my eyes at him, and he winked.

Kaira looked between us, thoroughly entertained.

"Did you fight a lot?"

"Every single day," I answered.

"She started it," Keifer added.

"He started it!"

"See, princess? Your mama still blames me for everything."

I shook my head, smiling.

"We were enemies before we became anything else."

Kaira tilted her head.

"Enemies?"

"Yes, baby," Keifer said, gently brushing her hair away from her face. "Your mama and I used to fight a lot. We thought we hated each other."

"But you love each other now?"

I looked at Keifer.

He was already looking at me.

"Yes, princess," I whispered. "We love each other very much."

She smiled before asking another question.

"Then how did you become lovers?"

Keifer leaned back against the couch.

"Well, that's a long story."

"A very long story," I agreed.

We had no idea where to begin.

How could we explain to a five-year-old that the person who once made us the angriest could eventually become the person we trusted the most?

How could we tell her about the fights, the misunderstandings, the difficult days, and the moments when we had to learn how to understand each other?

How could we explain that loving someone didn't mean everything would suddenly become easy?

That sometimes, you had to grow together.

You had to listen, forgive, apologise, and learn.

And most importantly, you had to choose each other even when life wasn't going the way you had imagined.

I looked at Keifer, remembering the boy he used to be and the man sitting beside me now.

He had changed so much.

And so had I.

But somewhere beneath all those years, he was still the boy who could make me angry with just one sentence.

And I was still the girl who could never let him win an argument.

He reached for my hand beneath the blanket and intertwined our fingers.

A small smile appeared on my face.

"Your papa wasn't always this sweet, you know," I told Kaira.

"HEY!"

"He was arrogant, annoying, stubborn, and always thought he was right."

Keifer looked at our daughter.

"Your mama was bossy, short-tempered, and never listened to me."

"I DID LISTEN!"

"When?"

"KEIFER!"

He burst out laughing, and soon, I was laughing with him.

Kaira watched us with the biggest smile on her face.

Then she climbed into our laps, wrapping her little arms around both of us.

"I want to marry someone like Papa when I grow up."

Keifer immediately sat up.

"Absolutely not."

I burst out laughing.

"Why? You just spent five minutes telling her how amazing you are!"

"That's different! She's my princess!"

Kaira giggled and kissed his cheek.

"I love you, Papa."

His entire expression softened.

"I love you too, baby. More than anything."

She turned towards me and kissed my cheek, too.

"I love you, Mama."

I hugged her tightly.

"I love you more than you'll ever know, princess."

A little later, Kaira began rubbing her sleepy eyes. Keifer gently picked her up, and she rested her head against his shoulder.

I followed them to her bedroom.

After tucking her into bed, Keifer kissed her forehead while I pulled her blanket up to her chin.

"Goodnight, my princess," he whispered.

"Goodnight, Papa. Goodnight, Mama."

"Goodnight, baby."

We waited until she had fallen asleep before quietly leaving her room.

As we walked back towards ours, Keifer suddenly caught my hand.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing."

"Then why are you holding my hand?"

He smiled.

"Because I can."

I rolled my eyes, but I didn't let go.

We entered our room, and I sat on the bed while he settled beside me.

For a few moments, neither of us spoke.

Then I rested my head against his shoulder.

"Keifer?"

"Hmm?"

"Do you ever think about how we started?"

He turned towards me.

"All the time."

I smiled faintly.

"Sometimes, I still find it hard to believe that we're here. Married, with a daughter, working together, living our lives..."

He gently took my hand.

"Do you regret it?"

I lifted my head immediately.

"What?"

"Being with me. Marrying me. Everything we've been through."

I looked at him for a long moment.

Then I shook my head.

"Never."

His eyes softened.

"Even when things were difficult?"

"Even then."

I moved closer and rested my forehead against his.

"Keifer, we weren't perfect. We made mistakes, we fought, and there were times when we didn't understand each other. Our life wasn't always easy."

He listened quietly.

"But if I had to go through everything again just to find my way back to you, I would."

He looked at me, his eyes filled with the same tenderness that had never failed to make my heart melt.

"Jay..."

"I'm serious," I whispered. "Because somewhere between all those fights and arguments, you became my person. The one I wanted to tell everything to. The one I looked for when something happened. The one I wanted beside me, even on the days when I couldn't explain what I was feeling."

He pulled me into his arms.

"And you became mine, sweetheart."

I closed my eyes as he kissed my forehead.

"I don't know what our future holds," he murmured. "We'll have more difficult days. We'll probably fight over stupid things until we're old."

I laughed softly against his chest.

"Definitely."

"But whatever happens, I want you beside me. Through every stage of our lives. When things are good, when things are difficult, when our little princess grows up and no longer needs us to tuck her into bed..."

"Keifer, don't make me cry."

He chuckled and held me tighter.

"I just want you to know that I'm still choosing you, Jay. And I always will."

My eyes filled with tears.

Years ago, we had been two stubborn people who couldn't stand being in the same room.

Now, he was the person I wanted beside me in every room, every home, and every chapter of my life.

I lifted my face and kissed him softly.

"I choose you too,."

He smiled against my forehead.

"Good. Because you're stuck with me."

"Unfortunately."

"JAY!"

I burst out laughing as he pulled me into another hug.

And just like that, we were back to being ourselves.

Two people who had started with arguments, fallen in love despite themselves, and built a life that was entirely ours.

That night, as I lay beside him, listening to the steady rhythm of his breathing, I thought about the girl I used to be.

The girl who had never imagined that the boy who irritated her the most would become her greatest love.

If I could meet that girl now, I would tell her not to be afraid of the journey ahead.

Because one day, she would understand.

Love wasn't about finding someone who never hurt you, someone who never made mistakes, or someone who made every day perfect.

It was about finding someone willing to learn with you, grow with you, and stand beside you when life became difficult.

Someone who would hold your hand through the storms and celebrate the sunshine with you.

For me, that person had always been Keifer.

My enemy.

My best friend.

My first love.

My husband.

The father of my child.

My home.

And as I closed my eyes, his arms wrapped securely around me, I knew one thing with all my heart.

Our story had never been perfect.

But it was ours.

And after everything we had been through, we were still here.

Still laughing.

Still fighting over pizza.

Still annoying each other.

Still falling in love, even after all these years.

And tomorrow, when the sun rose, we would continue building our little world together.

One day at a time.

One memory at a time.

One choice at a time.

Choosing each other. Always.

Because once upon a time, Jay and Keifer had been enemies who never imagined loving each other.

But somehow, through all the fights, tears, laughter, and years, they had found their way home.

And this time, neither of them was ever letting go.

THE END. ♡
