"Why destroy the Alpha?"
Victor Graves asked the question with an almost amused softness, as though he were discussing the price of a painting rather than the fate of an entire supernatural kingdom, and the faint smile resting upon his lips made Silas Crowe glance at him with restrained irritation. They stood upon the abandoned platform of the old Regina underground station, where rusted rails disappeared into a tunnel swallowed by darkness and rainwater dripped steadily from the cracked ceiling into shallow pools beneath their boots. Selene Arkwright stood several paces away beside a circular stone altar that had been uncovered beneath the station floor, her fingers resting lightly against its weathered edge as she listened to the distant pulse coming from somewhere below.
"We don't destroy him," Selene answered.
Victor tilted his head. "Then what exactly are we doing?"
"We destroy his unity."
