"Shut up or I'll knot your tie around your neck," I growled, but he just laughed as his mom opened the door, all smiles and hugs, pulling me in like I was the prodigal son, "Daniel, so good to see you, and your friend, this is who went to the date for you right, oh, you boys clean up nice, come in, Skyler's in the kitchen sulking, but ignore that, he's just nervous."
Nervous my ass, I thought, following her into the dining room where his dad was already pouring wine, shaking my hand too hard like he was sealing a deal, "Daniel, good man, glad you came, let us make this work, for all of us. Okay?"
I nodded smiling. Sky was at the table, arms crossed, glaring daggers at me the second I walked in, his scent hitting me like a punch, it was bitter orange and anger, making my alpha instincts twitch to soothe or dominate, but I promised Mom lovely, so I smiled, big and fake, "Sky, good to see you again, sorry about the restaurant mix-up, but hey, fresh start?"
