A lot of people have wondered how and why twins happen. Triplets and quadruplets were even crazier to meet and an even bigger mystery. A huge mystery is when a beast egg at the ceremony of implementation had twins. Hildred Academy had a girl with twin light cheetahs. Light magic was a mystery to most as well as its uses were limited to hurting only certain beasts. Twin cheetahs that could utilize light magic allowed their speed to be utilized with their light attack and would blind people with a bright light.
One thing I forgot to mention was Joey's red panda Po loved watching arena fights so Po would sit and scout all of the competition each and every day. The small red panda had a spot that no one would bother it as well as a great view of the fights. Joey would then relay all that Po saw and we knew we were in for an interesting fight with our first round tournament fight against Hildred Academy.
Maddy had a nice surprise for us before the fight began. Apparently the gift I gave her while she was sleeping increased her life faery to become a bronze level beast unlocking a set of spells. The newest support spell she just learned was called Light as a Faery and all of us suddenly had faery wings on our backs and we each were hovering. The motion felt weird for a minute and it took us the final 20 seconds before the fight to get used to the movement. Literally all six of us were swaying back and forth as we hovered.
Adam lifted up about ten feet into the air and then slowly lowered. "Hey lets fight from different heights, Jordan get up here and have Wispy dominate from above." Adam spoke through the panda tribe spell. Maddy and I both lifted to about 20 feet giving both of us a great view of the battlefield. The countdown dwindled as we reached the apex of what we wanted to be at. A part of me was terrified that the spell would run out or if she was knocked out that I would suddenly fall. I was telling Wispy internally to make sure nothing touches Maddy.
The fact that we just did something completely new impacted our fight drastically if you ask me. The Hildred Academy team in their yellow and white uniformed gear weren't sure what to do as the team they had watched as a unit of six ground fighters were all now floating. I decided arcane missiles at the twin cheetah beast master to start it off would get everyone out of their daze. I wish I had taken a moment longer to aim better, I hit her arm just below the shoulder and if I had just aimed slightly more to the left I would have hit mid chest and surely knocked her out of the arena to start the fight.
I spent the next five seconds floating twenty feet in the air staring at whiteness. One of the twin cheetahs had attacked me with their blind spell and wow is it a weird feeling. To see the world normally then it instantly go white then after five seconds it's all back again but everything has changed. Maddy was the recipient of the other twin cheetah's blind attack so the two of us were essentially floating twenty feet in the air at the starting area.
Adam was in the middle of fighting the cheetah girl who also wielded a katana and was very proficient with it. Adam's armor was keeping him safe as she was more skilled with the katana, most likely since Adam just received his and hadn't worked on all the techniques that one would need to work on to be proficient.
I was later told that Joey and Travis were both hit with the blind and knocked out while not being able to see anything. Adam said they attacked with their bows and he assassinated them but after they had taken their fatal shots at Joey and Travis. If I remember right there were two plant beast masters with bows in the group before we started the match. Abby was in a fight with their own fire wolf beast master. With no support from either team it was a complete stalemate.
I flew closer to the action and sent a few life mend arrows at both Abby and Adam while Maddy sent her healing spells of her choice. Since we hadn't seen what had happened for five seconds we wanted to make sure they were ok first before fighting. I saw Abby slip and I sent an arcane barrier just in time to save her from being knocked out of the fight. The barrier bounced the wolf back as Lacy then charged in and took out the stunned wolf. The golden light emitted and the beast master who was mid swing for a killing blow on Abby was kicked out of the arena.
That moment made me realize that we would have to change our tactics when not in the arena. Watching the sword come down and knowing you couldn't do anything to stop it was a horrifying feeling to watch happen to a friend. The arena was nice that it would eject people out before the killing blow no matter what but outside of the arena killing someone's beast only makes them weaker, not dead. That sword would have continued and killed Abby if it wasn't an arena environment.
Adam's back and forth with the twin cheetah beast master had so much movement back and forth that none of us dared to interfere. The cheetahs were even sitting back and watching as their master was in a fight they had never seen before. Adam was learning on the fly and becoming more and more attuned to the speed and skill of the girl. The problem was the girl didn't have obsidian armor given by the future king to protect his daughter, she only had solid gear that still anyone would be happy to have. Adam's katana was a gold ranked weapon with much stronger material and started to make nicks in the blade of the girls katana.
The girl had four different cuts on her that were bleeding and soaking into her clothes changing from white and yellow to pink. Suddenly the girl was ejected from the arena and sent to the infirmary bed as the arena sensors detected too much blood loss. Then the announcer who was stunned at what had just happened finally announced "Victory Arcanum from Ghostrun Academy!". The place went wild as they were beyond impressed with the display of swordsmanship that happened between Adam and the twin cheetah beast master.
Adam was exhausted and I came down and grabbed him seeing he was about to collapse. He leaned into me and grabbed his hip and we walked out of the arena back to our room below. While we were walking Wispy interacted with Dante again through the contact between Adam and I and this time Wispy learned from Adam what he learned in the fight.
The armor having the gems and then our dimensional storage gems were causing our beasts to grow and so far they hadn't accessed all that the armor can give. During the fight Dante was pulling from the armor to increase Adam's reflexes and suddenly learned the spell arcane reflexes which increases your agility by 50% for 5 minutes. That boost gave him what he needed to catch up to the girl and then learn her patterns. The armor kept him safe until then and once he had her timing down then the openings started for him and he took advantage of them when he could make small cuts ultimately bleeding her to submission.
