Chapter 259 - Chapter 259: Blood Sacrifice! Mark of an Evil God!

Karl did not remain at the Mutant School for very long.

He had obtained what he wanted and was extremely satisfied.

The mutants had also learned what they wanted, leaving them equally satisfied.

It was the perfect mutually beneficial arrangement.

Karl hoped they could continue benefiting one another like this in the future.

After arranging to meet several powerful mutants known to Professor X in a few days, Karl returned to Kamar-Taj.

Strange had returned several days earlier to investigate Baron Mordo.

Now that Karl was back, he could see how much progress Strange had made.

However, when he arrived at Kamar-Taj, he immediately realized that something was wrong.

Several Master Sorcerers were gathered together, their expressions grave as they discussed something.

Although Karl was technically an outsider, he belonged to the same Kamar-Taj lineage, so there was no distance between them.

That was one of Kamar-Taj's fundamental principles.

"Karl, you're back."

Strange greeted him solemnly.

"What happened?"

"Why does everyone look so grim?"

Karl asked curiously.

"It concerns Baron Mordo."

"I never imagined he would commit something so appalling."

Wong sighed from the side.

"What exactly did he do?" Karl asked.

"He turned an entire nation into a dead land."

"There was a small country beside the Sahara Desert. He used every person there as part of a blood sacrifice."

"He also left an extremely evil mark behind."

"I suspect he sacrificed them to an Evil God and slaughtered an entire nation in the process."

Strange's expression was exceptionally grim.

"What?"

"He truly did that?"

Karl's expression also darkened.

Even a small nation would probably have several million inhabitants.

A soul sacrifice of that magnitude would be enough to attract the attention of powerful demons.

Karl would not even be surprised if an entity such as Cyttorak personally intervened.

Human souls were an extremely valuable commodity throughout the Multiverse.

Baron Mordo had truly gone insane.

Did he not understand that doing such a thing would attract countless evil spirits from the surrounding dimensions?

The Marvel Universe was a world filled with superheroes.

When they encountered an atrocity like this, they would genuinely intervene.

Even if it cost them their lives, they would still take action.

They were not the kind of people who would simply stand aside and ignore it.

Baron Mordo had truly lost his mind.

"That bastard has committed a crime against humanity."

"We absolutely cannot let him escape this time."

"I think we should act as quickly as possible."

"Otherwise, no one knows what else he might do."

Karl slammed his hand against the table.

"Karl is right."

"We cannot continue allowing this to happen."

"I was too softhearted."

Strange could not help but sigh.

He blamed himself for what had happened.

He had defeated Baron Mordo more than once.

However, because of their former friendship, he had always allowed Mordo to escape in the end.

He had never imagined that Mordo would commit such a horrific massacre.

Had Baron Mordo truly gone insane?

Strange still found it difficult to believe.

Mordo had always been ambitious and had wanted to replace him as Sorcerer Supreme.

However, he had never been this deranged before.

What exactly had happened?

Why had he become like this?

Even now, Strange had not found an answer.

Nevertheless, after Mordo had committed such an atrocity, Strange could no longer show him any mercy.

"Have you confirmed his location?"

"Is he still there?"

Karl asked.

"We've confirmed it. Baron Mordo is still there."

"He placed a veil of illusion over the entire area."

"Ordinary people probably believe that everything there remains completely normal."

Strange sighed.

Even as the Sorcerer Supreme, he had never witnessed such a horrifying massacre.

Karl also sighed.

"It's difficult to imagine Baron Mordo doing something like this."

In Karl's universe, Baron Mordo was extremely dutiful.

He managed Kamar-Taj's affairs smoothly and efficiently, saving Karl a great deal of trouble.

Who could have imagined that the Baron Mordo of this universe would become such a monster?

What exactly had Mordo experienced in this universe?

Karl was deeply puzzled.

As far as he remembered, Baron Mordo had never been this deranged.

He had sacrificed an entire country filled with members of his own species.

It was an atrocity condemned by everyone.

Even reversing time could not resurrect those victims.

Once something had been acknowledged by the laws of the world, not even Karl could reverse it.

Baron Mordo had truly gone insane.

Karl cursed him again in his heart.

The other sorcerers strongly agreed.

If Mordo had not gone insane, how could he possibly have done something like this?

The room fell silent.

"That's enough. There's no need to remain like this."

"Since Baron Mordo has committed such an unforgivable crime, we absolutely cannot show him mercy."

"Kamar-Taj exists to preserve order."

"It is not a place that trains supervillains."

"We created this problem, so we should be the ones to end it."

"Killing Baron Mordo will also allow us to avenge the dead."

Karl broke the silence, his voice carrying clearly to everyone present.

The sorcerers raised their heads.

"I know that facing someone who was once your friend may be painful."

"However, we cannot allow Baron Mordo to commit even greater atrocities."

"This is not something a sorcerer of Kamar-Taj should ever do."

Karl spoke loudly.

The sorcerers looked at him with awe and admiration.

Only Strange felt that something was wrong.

Wait a moment.

Wasn't he supposed to be the Sorcerer Supreme?

Why did Karl's speech make him sound like nothing more than a subordinate?

"Ahem."

"Karl is right."

"Now that we have made our decision, there is no reason to continue discussing it here. We should leave immediately."

"However, anyone below the rank of Master Sorcerer should remain behind."

"This battle may be extremely dangerous."

Strange warned them in a grave voice.

Karl looked at the surrounding Master Sorcerers.

On second thought, perhaps they should remain behind as well.

Even Master Sorcerers might simply be throwing their lives away if they accompanied them.

"Strange, I think it would be better for only the two of us to go."

"Baron Mordo is extremely skilled in soul magic and hypnosis."

"Anyone significantly weaker than him would be in tremendous danger."

"I don't think even the Master Sorcerers could be guaranteed safety."

Karl warned him.

"You're right."

"I overlooked that."

Strange suddenly realized the danger.

After sacrificing hundreds of thousands of people, Baron Mordo must have obtained terrifying power.

It was possible that even Strange himself would be unable to withstand Mordo's magic using defensive spells alone.

Bringing the Master Sorcerers with them could cause a disaster.

What would happen if Mordo used his powers to turn all those sorcerers against them in the middle of the battle?

Their losses would be devastating.

"Wong, you and the others will remain behind to guard Kamar-Taj."

"The two of us should be more than enough to punish Baron Mordo."

Strange spoke decisively.

In fact, considering Karl's strength, Strange felt that Karl alone might be enough to deal with Baron Mordo.
