Chapter 38 - Chapter 38 — Shadows Over the New Generation

The world moves in cycles. One generation rises, another falls. And yet, I remain. Centuries pass, but my awareness never wanes. My scrying networks, perfected over decades, ensured that I could witness every crucial event without interference.

Now, the time had come. Wu had begun gathering the next generation of elemental masters—the Ninja. The world was entering a new chapter, and I watched with interest, cloaked in shadow, unmoving, unseen.

Through my crimson-tinted scrying spell, the events unfolded in vivid detail. Garmadon's skeletons—animated remnants of his former power—attacked a blacksmith shop, and I observed as Kai and Nya defended it with youthful vigor. The chaos was both entertaining and enlightening; I cataloged every technique, every reaction, every instinct. These children were untrained but full of raw potential.

Nya's capture was swift. I noted the fear in Kai's eyes—but also the determination that followed. He wanted to become stronger. He wanted to fight. The seeds of the next generation were already being sown, and I could see the path they would take: driven, impulsive, and entirely unaware of the shadow gathering over Ninjago.

I paused, allowing my magical senses to extend further. I could feel the tension in the city streets, the fear of civilians, and the subtle ripple of elemental power as Kai struggled to control his abilities. Their world was small, inexperienced, and fragile. Perfect for observation—and manipulation, should I choose.

As Kai vowed to train as a Ninja, I considered my options. These children were not threats… yet. But with proper timing, guidance, or the right nudge, even the most unassuming person could become a pawn—or a weapon.

I cataloged their strengths: Kai's fiery temperament, his instinctive control over fire; Nya's emerging skill with water; Jay's quick reflexes; Cole's strength; and Zane's unique abilities. Each had potential, but none had the experience or knowledge to challenge me. None had my power.

For now, I watched. I learned. I waited.

The world was starting its next cycle of conflict, but my empire in the Lava Lands and Shintaro remained secure. I could observe, experiment, and influence events from the shadows while my forces expanded quietly. The new generation of Ninja would grow up thinking they were shaping the world—but in reality, they were moving pieces on a board I had controlled for decades.

As the sun set over the Lava Lands, I allowed myself a faint smile. The future was coming, messy and chaotic as always. But with foresight, patience, and power, even chaos could be turned into opportunity.

And I had centuries of practice at turning opportunity into absolute dominion.

Kai's first steps toward becoming a Ninja would be remembered—but they would not matter. Not yet. Not until the time was right.

I simply waited, and watched, as the shadows stretched across the lands I had claimed.

Ninjago would rise again—but not on its own terms.

It would rise on mine.
