Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Return Without Knowing

That evening felt quieter than the rest.

Not because the world had changed…

But because something inside her had.

She didn't go looking anymore.

She didn't walk back to that exact place.

She didn't let her eyes search through every passing face.

And yet…

He didn't leave.

She sat on the temple steps, watching people move around her.

Families walking together.

Friends laughing softly.

Strangers finding their way through the crowd.

Everyone seemed to belong somewhere.

Everyone seemed to have someone.

For the first time, she noticed it clearly.

Not loneliness.

But a space inside her she had never felt before.

Her eyes paused on a small moment—a girl talking happily beside someone, sharing something simple, something normal.

And suddenly…

Her heart felt heavier.

"Why him…?" the thought returned quietly.

Out of so many faces…

Out of so many moments…

Why did only one stay?

Why did only one matter?

She had no answer.

Only a feeling that refused to fade.

The temple bells rang again.

Deep.

Clear.

Calling everyone closer.

She stood up slowly and walked forward with the crowd.

Her steps were steady now.

Not restless.

Not searching.

Just… moving.

As she reached inside, she closed her eyes.

Her hands folded gently.

And this time…

Her prayer was different.

Not asking to see him again.

Not asking for that moment to return.

Just one quiet wish—

"Give me peace…"

The words stayed within her.

Soft.

Honest.

Real.

For a brief moment…

Everything became still.

No thoughts.

No questions.

No longing.

Just silence.

A peaceful silence she hadn't felt in days.

But peace never stays for long.

Because as she opened her eyes…

Something shifted.

Not clearly.

Not visibly.

But deeply.

A feeling.

A presence.

As if someone familiar was near.

Very near.

Her heart skipped.

Her breath paused for a second.

She turned slightly—

Then stopped.

She didn't look completely.

Didn't search.

Didn't confirm.

Because something inside her whispered softly—

"If it's real… it will find you again."

And for the first time…

She trusted that feeling.

Without turning back…

Without checking again…

She walked forward.

Not because she had forgotten.

But because she had begun to believe—

Some moments don't end.

They just wait.

To be continued…
