Kael's POV
Riven's voice echoed through the hallway, and at that moment, I felt something inside me snap painfully.
I turned slowly toward him while Tori remained beside me, but the moment my eyes landed on my brother's face, an uncomfortable tightness spread through my chest.
Riven looked amused.
Not shocked.
Not confused.
Amused.
Like the entire situation itself entertained him.
"Well," he continued while folding his arms across his chest, "this is definitely new." A smirk slowly appeared on his lips. "You? Opening up to somebody?"
"Shut up, Riven." My voice came out sharper than intended.
But he only raised his brows slightly.
"What?" He shrugged carelessly before glancing toward Tori. "Did he also tell you the part where he nearly killed a council member at sixteen?"
"Riven."
This time, my tone came out lower. Dangerous.
But he ignored the warning completely.
