KAYLA'S POV (Continuing):
A few minutes later, I was already dramatically suffering.
"Oh my God," I groaned, slumping against the couch. "Why are there so many credits? Why is the intro so long? When does the actual movie start?"
Theo didn't even look at me.
"Be patient. It's starting."
I let out a deep, tragic sigh.
"This is emotional torture."
"It's been three minutes."
"Exactly."
Eventually, the movie really did begin, and once it got going… I had to admit, it was actually interesting.
There was drama.
There was romance.
There was forbidden love.
There were strict rules.
There were students who looked like they had never once experienced peace.
Relatable.
At one point, Theo leaned forward slightly, watching the screen carefully.
"This boy is in love with her best friend," he said. "But her best friend is in love with someone else… and that person isn't right for her."
I stared at the screen for a moment.
Then I scoffed.
"Oh… then he's a fool."
Theo turned to me.
"Why?"
I looked at him like it was obvious.
"Because he should've confessed the moment he first felt something."
He went quiet.
"Maybe," he said after a moment, "he's afraid it would ruin their friendship."
I snorted.
"Still. He should confess."
Theo's expression turned unreadable.
"What if it's too risky?"
I looked at him, unimpressed.
"What's he waiting for? Her marriage?"
He looked away after that, focusing back on the screen.
I didn't think much of it.
I was too busy being right.
