Faye Vaughn's eyes began to redden, welling up with tears.
Liam Linden's clenched fist tightened, and he hid it behind his back. 'It's better for her to cry now than to regret it later.'
"Are you finished?" Faye Vaughn's voice was thick with tears, muffled and indistinct.
Liam Linden turned away, unwilling to look at her or answer. He just grabbed his clothes and put them on.
Faye Vaughn clutched the corner of his shirt. "If you think I'm so dirty, why did you bring me here? Didn't you feel dirty when you were carrying me?"
Liam Linden said coldly, "I was afraid you'd die in the woods, draw suspicion, and lead someone to track me down."
Faye Vaughn sniffled. "You're lying," she said, her voice stuffy.
Liam Linden's tone was unyielding. "I am not."
