Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Combat

Chapter 38: Combat

As he watched the Tornado race toward him, Su Ke's expression changed drastically, and he shouted in his heart, 'Holy crap!'

Is this for real? Is she even human?

Su Ke raised both hands high, frantically circulating the elemental power within his body and beginning to charge. In the next instant, 2 thick pillars of fire erupted from his palms, carrying a fierce aura as they shot straight at the Tornado.

Boom—

Two deafening explosions rang out as the fire pillars and the Tornado collided violently, producing a terrifying impact. For a moment, wind roared and flames surged, and the surrounding air seemed on the verge of igniting.

Su Ke gritted his teeth, desperately channeling elemental power and pouring everything he had into the twin pillars of fire. On the opposite side, Zhang Xin looked completely relaxed, casually lifting one hand to steadily receive the force.

The fire pillars and the Tornado stalemated in midair, neither able to advance.

Veins bulged on Su Ke's forehead as sweat-like flames continuously dripped down his body, yet he stubbornly endured. After a grueling struggle, he finally exhausted all his strength and barely managed to block Zhang Xin's casual strike.

As the Tornado pressed against the fire pillars, it was gradually dyed red, transforming into a Fire Tornado that now contained both Wind and Fire attributes.

Su Ke's heart stirred.

'If that's the case, let's see if I can control the fire within it.'

He immediately focused his mind, attempting to communicate with the fire elements inside the Fire Tornado. As his will pressed forward, the originally violent flames slowly calmed, as if they had found a sense of belonging.

Su Ke was delighted and increased his effort, forcing the fire elements to obey his command. Under his control, the Fire Attribute portion began to fuse with the twin fire pillars, forming an even more powerful force.

Little by little, he pushed back, trying to drive the Fire Tornado toward Zhang Xin. To his surprise, it actually began to retreat, slow but unmistakable.

A trace of admiration flashed through Zhang Xin's eyes. "Not bad. Very clever."

However, just as Su Ke thought he had stabilized the situation, the Fire Tornado suddenly grew violent again. It twisted frantically, its power surging explosively.

"Not good!"

Su Ke's face went pale as he hurriedly tried to withdraw his elemental power, but it was already too late. The Fire Tornado broke free of his control and lunged at him like a ferocious beast.

Zhang Xin had injected more Wind Attribute energy into it.

Su Ke's expression changed drastically. He felt himself reaching his limit. Gritting his teeth, he gathered his remaining strength and roared, compressing all the flames into a single point to block it once more.

It was completely futile. The gap in their Realms was far too great.

Seeing the situation spiral out of control, Su Ke decisively switched forms.

"XLR8!"

In a flash of blue light, his figure vanished, escaping the Tornado's range at lightning speed.

Zhang Xin's eyes flickered with surprise. "I didn't expect him to have more than one form. His talent is far more than just Earth-Grade."

At Dijin University, those capable of transforming into multiple forms invariably possessed at least Heaven-Grade talent. Yet Su Ke, evaluated as Earth-Grade, was already displaying such astonishing abilities.

Moreover, one testing error might be written off as coincidence. But two in a row was thought-provoking.

Still, Zhang Xin didn't dwell on it. No matter what, Su Ke was her nephew. Family came first.

With a light snap of her fingers, the once-ferocious Fire Tornado abruptly changed direction and began rapidly chasing Su Ke.

Because of Zhang Xin's strength, she had chosen the largest training field available, covering a full 10,000 square meters. This ensured Su Ke had enough room to maneuver without being overly constrained.

At the same time, she deliberately restrained the Tornado's power, preventing it from causing him serious harm.

The scene turned surreal: a crimson Fire Tornado relentlessly pursuing a blue raptor across the field.

'Running like this won't solve anything.'

Su Ke twisted his body, retreating while still facing the Tornado, his movements resembling skating backward on rollerblades. As the Fire Tornado closed in, he switched forms mid-motion.

The sudden inertia flipped him through the air before he landed in a classic superhero stance.

"Diamondhead!"

His left hand slammed into the ground as surrounding diamonds erupted upward, rapidly forming a solid diamond wall to block the Fire Tornado. At the same time, his right arm transformed into sharp spikes, firing streams of diamond bullets toward Zhang Xin.

Facing the barrage, Zhang Xin remained calm. She extended a single finger, instantly condensing a wind barrier.

The diamond bullets struck the barrier and rebounded harmlessly, unable to pose even the slightest threat.

Seeing that his attacks were useless, Su Ke abandoned offense entirely and focused all his effort on controlling the diamonds. Vast quantities of crystal spread outward, encasing the Fire Tornado like layers of ice and gradually suppressing its violent gale.

"Haaah…"

Su Ke let out a heavy breath. "Finally dealt with it."

"Not quite."

A mischievous voice suddenly sounded by his ear.

Su Ke turned his head and saw Zhang Xin standing less than 50 centimeters away.

The corners of her lips curved into a faint smile, warm and gentle like spring sunlight, soft like a summer breeze. Yet to Su Ke, it felt like plunging straight into icy hell.

Sure enough, Zhang Xin punched him squarely in the chest.

It felt as if a train had slammed into him head-on.

Agonizing pain exploded through his chest.
