I quickly put on the clothes Healer Felix got for me, keeping my ears peeled for any movement outside. I was worried that Caius might actually strike Healer Felix in the heat of anger, despite it being against pack law.
Werewolves of most packs were banned by law from attacking their own healers or even the healers of other packs during pack wars. Healers were extremely rare, considering the difficulty of understanding the ever-changing werewolf biology, and as such, even those from enemy packs would be kept as prisoners-of-war rather than immediately executed as other members of the pack might be.
Healer Felix, especially, had a long-standing history with Ashbourne. He had been a skilled healer ever since he was twelve. While other children were either going to school or playing with their friends, Healer Felix had spent his time cooped up in the infirmary, honing his medical skills.
