Lucien froze for a second when he noticed her reaction, but it was too fast, so Celeste did not find out. Then, as if nothing had happened, he continued to nuzzle his head against her hand.
After a while, he suddenly lifted his head and asked with excitement, "The mark is near your heart, Celeste. That means that I'm very important to you, aren't I?"
Celeste tilted her head in confusion and then asked, "What mark?"
She had totally forgotten what she had learned from Sylas before. But it was not really her fault, as she had never planned to stay in the beast world for even once. All she wanted to do was to figure out the purpose of the system and then return to her original world to reunite with her brother. Because of that, she barely remembered what Sylas had taught her about the marks after the males mate with their partners.
Then she noticed Lucien staring straight at something, and she lowered her head, seeing a small snake coiled around her collarbone.
