Chapter 3 - Kaito's Decision

Kaito stood before Queen Fiore in the throne room, just the two of them. His mind was still reeling from the incredible events he had experienced a few hours earlier. He still struggled to understand how he'd suddenly come to possess such extraordinary powers.

Queen Fiore, noticing his confusion, spoke gently, "Kaito, my elf maidens prayed earnestly to the gods for a savior, a new king to guide and protect us from darkness. You have been chosen, bestowed with these powers by divine will. You truly are our realm's savior. Should you fulfill your duty, you will be worshipped and revered."

Pausing briefly, the queen's expression softened further, compassion filling her emerald eyes. "However, it is selfish to force such a fate upon you. I will grant you a choice." With a graceful gesture, Queen Fiore conjured another shimmering portal, explaining softly, "If you step through this portal, you'll return to your normal life and lose the powers you possess. You may never return to Valeria again."

Kaito stood frozen, torn by the weight of the decision. Thoughts of his beloved auntie, who had always cared deeply for him, filled his heart with guilt. Yet, memories of his mundane and lonely existence surfaced, reminding him that he had little purpose or joy in his previous life. His heart ached as he silently apologized to his auntie, hoping she would somehow understand his choice.

After a moment's heavy contemplation, Kaito lifted his head decisively. "Queen Fiore, I would like to stay." A relieved smile broke across the queen's face, illuminating her beauty. "I understand how difficult this decision must be for you, Kaito. Thank you. We are eternally grateful."

She gently clarified, "Please know, I never intended to banish you from Valeria. Had you declined, I would have offered you a peaceful life in our village nearby, or the choice to return home. It would have been unjust otherwise."

Kaito's heart warmed with relief, appreciating the queen's kindness and fairness. "Thank you, your majesty. I'm grateful you would consider the wellbeing of a mere human, like myself." Summoning courage he didn't know he had, Kaito added, "I hope in the future we can spend more time together, and get further acquainted"

The queen blushed lightly, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "It is my pleasure, Kaito and I'd like that very much as well." She turned away elegantly, preparing to leave. "Now rest, my king. You've earned it after your trials today and not to mention the unexpected enemy. You are welcome to do as you please. I do hope you enjoy your stay here."

"Thank you," Kaito responded sincerely, watching her go, still in awe at the reality of his incredible new life and responsibilities. As exhaustion finally overcame him, he felt deeply content and grateful, ready to embrace his future.

Kaito awoke refreshed, feeling luxurious fabric against his skin. He slept like a baby. Last night, one of the incredibly beautiful elf maids left Kaito an expensive set of silk nightwear on his bed, in his very own suite. This morning, he was dressed in a new set of royal clothes, meticulously prepared and fitted by the same stunning, full bodied elf maid. This time, he decided to show some respect by allowing the elf maids to do their job by dressing him. With gratitude, he rose from his bed and headed toward the dining hall for breakfast.

Upon entering the grand dining area, Kaito was greeted by the sight of all seven beautiful elf maidens seated around a lavish table. Their eyes sparkled with delight when they saw him, smiling warmly and offering gentle praise.

"Congratulations again, Kaito!" Lily said cheerfully, her voice filled with genuine admiration. "The queen informed us you decided to stay. We're overjoyed!"

"You truly amazed us during your trial," Orchid added happily. "Your strength and bravery was amazing."

Kaito rubbed the back of his neck shyly, blushing lightly. "I really didn't do much," he murmured humbly. The elves laughed gently, clearly charmed by his modesty. "Don't be silly," Iris chimed in. "You were amazing."

Taking a seat, Kaito began to eat, feeling more comfortable. Curiosity stirred within him, and he asked thoughtfully, "So, what exactly do you all do here? I'd love to know more about each of you." The elf maidens exchanged glances, pleased by his interest. River and Sage eagerly explained their roles as gifted healers, uniquely talented in healing magic, more powerful than most elves. The other elf maidens proudly explained their elemental abilities, Cherry and Rose controlling fire, Orchid wielding air, Iris summoning electric magic and strong defensive barriers, Lily mastering earth, and River also harnessing the power of ice and water. They explained how they combined their magic in harmony, protecting the realm and assisting the queen.

"That's truly impressive," Kaito admitted sincerely. "Not as impressive as you, Kaito," Rose insisted earnestly. Kaito shrugged sheepishly, laughing lightly. "Honestly, humans aren't that special where i'm from." Immediately, the elves expressed gentle annoyance. "You should be proud!" Orchid insisted firmly. Smiling, Kaito shifted the conversation. "Anyway, why exactly is the realm filled with darkness?"

Each elf solemnly recounted the tragic tale of Lord Yami, a dark sorcerer who spread chaos, destruction, and despair throughout their lands, affecting not only Valeria but many neighbouring realms. Their voices grew somber as they spoke, revealing the severity of their plight. Moved deeply, Kaito vowed earnestly, "I'll do everything I can to help defeat him. You have my word."

The elves visibly relaxed, relief flooding their expressions. With a sly smile, Kaito teasingly brought up the previous day's event in the dressing room. "Speaking of yesterday, you sure are cheeky little devils, trying to take off all my clothing without knowing a thing about me. Hmm. Perhaps I'll let you take it a step further next time." Kaito winked.

The elves giggled, blushing sweetly. "We'd certainly like to explore more with you, Kaito," Iris said softly, curiosity evident in her eyes. Kaito chuckled mischievously. "Trust me, you haven't experienced the best part yet."

"When can we experience this?" Rose asked eagerly, eyes wide with excitement. Grinning playfully, Kaito replied, "Patience, my dears. Soon. First, there's important work to be done." The elves nodded, smiling warmly. "We'll join you on your journey," Sage affirmed confidently. "I'd be honored to have your help and company," Kaito replied sincerely, feeling a surge of determination and excitement for the journey ahead.

After breakfast, Kaito set out eagerly, accompanied by all seven elf maidens, ready to begin their quest to clear the realm of darkness. Excitement stirred within him, driven by his determination to master his incredible powers, Mind Domination and magic reflection; and curious to discover if there was even more he could achieve.

As they journeyed, the elf maidens vied playfully for his attention, each subtly trying to outdo the others in charm and allure. Orchid flirted openly, her laughter ringing melodiously as she grabbed hold of his arm. River offered gentle smiles and comforting words, always staying close by his side. Cherry and Rose competed fiercely, using their fiery powers to impress him with dazzling displays. Sage subtly guided and advised him, her wisdom quietly drawing him in. Iris and Lily showered him with kindness, their soothing presence always near, competing gently for his attention through sweet gestures and soft spoken words.

Initially amused by their rivalry, Kaito soon became slightly nervous, feeling overwhelmed by their affectionate competition. Secretly, though, he loved every moment of their attention, but admitting this openly felt too embarrassing.

Finally, feeling the tension escalating, he chuckled nervously and held up his hands in gentle protest. "Ladies, please. There's no need to fight. I appreciate and think highly of each of you equally." The elves exchanged sheepish smiles, slightly mollified yet continuing their playful teasing. Deep down, Kaito eagerly anticipated fulfilling his fantasies with these stunning elves, but he knew his desires had to wait. He reminded himself firmly that first, he needed to prove his worth to Queen Fiore and the elves who had summoned him.

Determined, Kaito pressed forward with renewed purpose, resolved to master his powers fully and become the hero Valeria desperately needed, ensuring his fantasies with the enchanting elves would soon become reality.

The forest of Valeria was nothing like the Labyrinth. Sunlight filtered through towering silver-barked trees, scattering prismatic light across the mossy ground. Crystalline flowers hummed softly with magic. Birds with shimmering tails darted between branches. It was beautiful. And completely deceptive. Kaito walked at the centre of the group, trying very hard not to look as smug as he felt. Seven elf maidens. All close. All warm. All very aware of him. Orchid's fingers were still looped around his arm, her shoulder brushing his deliberately with every step. "My king looks deep in thought," she teased. "Are you planning strategies… or imagining something else?"

His glasses caught the light as he coughed. "Strategic thoughts only," he said stiffly.

Cherry leaned forward from his other side, her red hair cascading over his shoulder. "His ears are turning red again."

"They do that often," Rose giggled. "It's adorable."

Kaito stared straight ahead. This is fine. You defeated an abyssal warlord. You can survive mild flirting. Then River tripped. Or rather, she pretended to. With a soft gasp, she stumbled directly into his chest. Her hands landed flat against him, and for a split second their faces were inches apart. "I'm so sorry," she murmured sweetly. Kaito froze. He was very aware of how soft she felt. Very aware.

Behind him, Sage cleared her throat. "That root did not move," she stated dryly. River smiled innocently. Kaito gently steadied River upright, clearing his throat. "Right. Yes. Roots. Dangerous." Orchid leaned in again. "If you require balance, my king, I can hold your other arm too."

"I am balanced," he said quickly. Too quickly. The girls shared knowing looks. Before the teasing could escalate further, Sage suddenly lifted a hand. "Silence." The forest had gone still. No birds. No wind. Just a faint tremor underfoot. Kaito felt it too. Then the ground exploded.

Massive, bark-covered limbs burst upward as three towering Treant Sentinels tore themselves free from the earth. Their hollow eyes burned with sickly green light. Vines writhed like whips around their bodies. "Corrupted guardians," Iris whispered in horror.

One of the treants swung a branch the size of a battering ram. Kaito barely ducked in time, the impact splintering a nearby tree into fragments. "Okay!" he shouted. "Less flirting, more surviving!" Cherry's eyes ignited with flame. "Gladly." She and Rose leapt forward together, twin arcs of fire spiralling around them as they hurled blazing magic at the nearest treant. The creature roared, bark blackening but not fully burning. "It's resisting elemental damage!" Lily called. A vine lashed toward Orchid. Kaito reacted instinctively. "Stop!" The word wasn't loud. But it carried weight.

The vine froze mid-air. Not physically. Mentally. Kaito felt the connection. The treants were not mindless. They were controlled. Bound by something deeper in the forest. His eyes widened. "I can feel it," he said. "Something's driving them." Sage moved to his side. "Then don't dominate the puppet." Her eyes met his. "Dominate the puppeteer." The ground shook again as a fourth treant rose behind them.

Kaito closed his eyes. He reached past the bark, past the corruption, deeper into the forest's pulse. And he found it. A consciousness. Twisted. Rooted deep underground. Angry. He pushed. Not violently. Not like the Labyrinth. But firmly. The pressure fought back. His knees buckled slightly.

Immediately, Orchid was at his back, steadying him with both hands against his shoulders. River placed her palm against his chest, channelling calming magic. "You're not alone," she whispered. The warmth grounded him. Kaito focused harder. The forest spirit snarled in resistance, then faltered. The treants froze. Then, one by one, their green glow faded. They collapsed into harmless heaps of wood. Silence returned.

Kaito swayed. Seven sets of hands caught him at once. For a very brief, very overwhelming moment, he was pressed on all sides by soft curves, concerned faces, and warm bodies. He swallowed. "I'm okay," he croaked.

Cherry blinked. "Why is your face red again?"

"I am exerting magical energy," he said stiffly.

Sage smirked faintly. "Of course."

As they helped him stand properly, Orchid dusted imaginary debris from his chest, very slowly. "You were magnificent," she murmured. River smiled gently. "You didn't just overpower it. You freed it." Behind them, the forest shifted. The oppressive feeling was gone. Instead, glowing motes of green light rose from the fallen treants, drifting upward like fireflies.

A soft feminine voice echoed faintly through the trees. "Liberator…" Kaito blinked. "Did anyone else hear that?" All seven nodded. Rose clasped her hands excitedly. "You're already being acknowledged by spirits!" Cherry leaned closer to him again. "That makes you even more attractive."

"Combat enhancement bonus," Orchid added with a grin. Kaito sighed. "I am never going to have a normal day again, am I?" Sage folded her arms. "You were summoned into a fantasy realm to become king and save us from darkness."

"…Fair." Kaito responded.

As they continued deeper into the forest, the mood lightened again. The treant battle had clearly boosted morale. And Kaito's confidence. Until... They reached a river crossing.

A narrow fallen tree acted as a makeshift bridge across rushing water. "It will hold," Iris assured. Cherry skipped across effortlessly. Rose followed with playful flair. River glided across gracefully. Orchid turned back halfway across and gave him a sultry little beckoning gesture. "Careful, my king." Kaito inhaled. You defeated abyssal horrors. This is a log. He stepped forward confidently and immediately slipped. A yelp escaped him as his arms windmilled wildly. He did not fall into the river. Because seven elf maidens reacted at once.

Orchid grabbed his collar.

River caught his wrist.

Cherry caught his arm.

Rose grabbed his hand.

Sage braced his back.

Iris clutched his sleeve.

Lily grabbed...His trousers.

There was a very dangerous moment where physics almost betrayed him. The combined pulling force tilted him upward and his trousers slid down. Now his underwear was on public display, his butt crack also showing. There was a pause. A collective silence. Kaito slowly looked down. Then up. Seven pairs of eyes widened in perfect synchronization. Cherry blinked first. "…Oh."

Rose's face went crimson. River coughed politely. Sage turned her head away with suspicious speed. Orchid did not turn away at all. "Well," she said thoughtfully, "that is reassuring."

"PULL ME UP," Kaito squeaked. They did. He scrambled upright immediately, yanking his trousers back into proper position and adjusting his glasses with trembling dignity. "No one," he said firmly, "saw anything." The elves exchanged looks. Lily smiled sweetly. "Of course not." Cherry bit her lip to hide laughter. Orchid leaned closer again, whispering just loud enough for him to hear: "You truly are full of… surprises." He covered his face with one hand. "I hate this bridge." But as they continued walking, something had shifted again. The teasing was warmer. Less competitive. More united. They had fought together. Protected each other. Shared embarrassment. And beneath the playful tension, something real was forming. Yes, this was a fantasy. Yes, he had desires. But he was also earning this. Step by step. Battle by battle. Embarrassing moment by embarrassing moment.

Ahead, the forest began to darken once more. A faint purple glow flickered between distant trees. Sage's expression sharpened. "That is not natural." Kaito adjusted his glasses and smiled. "Alright then," he said, voice steady now. "Round two." The elf girls laughed in unison, ready for another fun adventure ahead.
