"What file," I asked.
"Internal system file," Jonah said. "Not labelled sensitive, but it was moved out of the system or duplicated. I'm still checking which one."
I leaned back in the seat.
"Pull Emily's access history for the last seventy-two hours," I said. "And Caroline's too. Check if there's overlap."
"I'm on it."
"Do not get caught."
"Yes sir."
That was all he said before ending the call.
"Marvin, take me to the office instead."
I hated how going there was now such a dreadful routine.
Thirty minutes later, I was walking into the company, ignoring everyone I saw.
It wasn't until I got to the elevator I realized I needed to calm down.
I pulled out my phone and called Ava.
"Hey"
"Ava, darling."
I had never longed for her as much as I did now. I wanted her with me, to tell me what to do, what to say. But I'd be selfish.
"Is everything okay? Don't lie to me."
"Everything isn't okay Ava, it's really not."
"What's going on?"
