Chapter 86 - Who Gave Them the Courage

Listening to Heisenberg's utterly emotionless demand and looking at his indifferent face, Carol Danvers felt her breathing grow heavy in an instant.

She really wanted to plant a fist right in Heisenberg's face and make this bastard disappear from the world!

But she wouldn't do that. At least not right now.

Because she needed the two stones in Heisenberg's possession.

So she took a deep breath, fought to keep herself from boiling over with rage, and sat down across from Heisenberg.

Seeing Carol take a seat, a hint of a smile appeared on Heisenberg's stern face. He nodded.

"That's more like it. When discussing matters, there's a proper way to do it.

Sitting down to talk is called a conversation. Standing in front of me and giving orders, that's called making demands!

Do you think you have the qualifications to demand anything from me?"

"I...!"

Veins instantly bulged on Carol's forehead.

Watching Carol forcibly suppress her anger time and again, Heisenberg showed no reaction whatsoever. He simply wore that same indifferent, careless smile as always.

Only when Carol felt she had truly calmed down did she speak again.

"I don't have the right to restrict your actions. But morality does.

However, I didn't come here to discuss that with you!

I'm hoping to borrow two Infinity Stones from you, because..."

"Stop!"

The moment he heard Carol's words, Heisenberg raised his right hand and cut the woman off.

Heisenberg pursed his lips, furrowed his brow, and said to Carol flatly, "That's impossible."

"Don't be so sure!"

Carol shot to her feet instantly, bracing her hands on the table as she glared at Heisenberg.

"The only reason I need to borrow the Infinity Stones is because of you!

You snapped that muddled finger of yours and only brought back the people of Earth!

That's why I need to borrow the stones from you, to resurrect all the other beings across the universe that you forgot!"

She shouted at Heisenberg at the top of her lungs.

And Heisenberg...

He sat there, head tilted up, face cold, watching Carol without saying a word.

"What's that supposed to mean?!"

Carol's breathing grew more and more ragged. Even a single answer would be better than this! What did it mean when he just stared at her like that?!

Just how little did he think of her?!

"Am I not even worthy of speaking with you, you bastard? You..."

"Stop!"

Heisenberg once again interrupted the furious Carol. Then he gestured downward with his right hand, patting the air a few times.

Moments later, Carol, still panting heavily, sank back down onto the sofa.

As soon as she sat, Heisenberg smiled and nodded at her.

"That's better. Now I can answer your question!

You say I forgot about those vanished beings from across the universe, so you want to snap your fingers a second time to resurrect them?"

"That's right. You only brought back the lives lost on Earth!"

Carol nodded eagerly.

But Heisenberg merely shook his head. "You're mistaken. I didn't forget them."

Hearing this, Carol stared at Heisenberg in disbelief.

"Impossible. I've confirmed beyond any doubt that people from other empires across the universe haven't been resurrected. You made a mistake!"

"Heh heh..."

Listening to Carol's incredibly naive words, seeing that she still hadn't grasped his line of thinking, Heisenberg's smile gradually turned cold.

He leaned back against the sofa with an air of boredom. While enjoying a bear claw pastry fed to him by the girl at his side, he spoke to Carol with undisguised disdain.

"Not resurrecting the rest of the universe... you actually see that as a mistake?

I didn't forget them. I simply had no intention of bringing them back in the first place.

Do you understand now, oh benevolent Carol? Tsk."

"You did it on purpose!"

Carol shot to her feet once again. But this time, without needing Heisenberg's reminder, she gritted her teeth and sat back down on her own.

Then she glared at the utterly dismissive Heisenberg and shouted from her seat.

"Do you have any idea what kind of consequences this will bring down on Earth, you bastard?!

You're going to make Earth the target of envy from every corner of the universe! All because Earthlings got their vanished loved ones back while everyone else didn't!

Do you know what that envy will breed?

Hatred!

You'll make Earth the target of a united assault!"

"Mhm!"

Heisenberg grunted, responding to Carol with displeasure.

"I think I see how you're thinking. It does appear you're considering Earth's interests.

But do you know how I'm thinking?"

Saying this, Heisenberg tapped his right hand against his own temple.

"Listen closely to my words, Carol!

First, the one who took away half of their brethren was Thanos, not the people of Earth!

Second, it was the people of Earth who first thought to seek revenge against Thanos and figured out that the Stones had been destroyed by him!

Finally, it was the people of Earth who steeled their resolve to save their loved ones, traveled through time to the universe I inhabit, and gathered the Infinity Stones!

Heh!"

Heisenberg let out a mocking laugh, then continued addressing Carol.

"Those beings across the universe who you say miss their loved ones, they didn't think to avenge their kin. They weren't willing to exhaust every possible method to get them back.

Yet the moment Earthlings found a way to undo everything, they're suddenly happy to reap the benefits.

Do you realize what you're doing?

You're trying to force me to let them enjoy a miracle dropped from the heavens! You're demanding that Earth share the rewards it earned through its own sacrifices with the rest of the universe!

And you call that fairness?!"

"I..."

Carol was stunned. She sat there, frozen, as if racking her brain for a way to refute Heisenberg's words.

But...

She wasn't skilled in debate. And her Nova Force certainly hadn't granted her a Kryptonian level intellect.

So the energy of the Nova Force blazed fiercely around her body, and she snarled at Heisenberg in fury.

"Enough of your nonsense! Tell me right now, are you handing over the Infinity Stones or not?!

I need them to prevent Earth from becoming the enemy of the entire universe! That's my one and only answer!"

"What the hell are you talking about?

Just because Earth received the reward it rightfully earned through its own efforts, the very beings you protect want to wage war against Earth?!

Then what exactly are you protecting? Are you some kind of lesser angel serving gods of Jealousy, Greed, or even War?"

"Damn it, stop spouting all this damned garbage at me!"

Carol had completely reached her limit. She leaped to her feet and roared at Heisenberg.

"I will never understand your thoughts or your actions, but I have to tell you this!

Whatever happens, I will not allow a war to break out between Earth and the universe in the future.

If we want to keep Earth from being targeted, we have to resurrect them!

If you won't give me the Infinity Stones, then I'll just take them myself!"

As soon as Carol's words fell, Heisenberg abruptly rose to his feet as well.

He first gently pushed the girl beside him away, telling her, "Take those bastards huddled in the corner and get far away from here. Once I've dealt with this nuisance, I'll send you all back to the homes you were stolen from before you were kidnapped and trafficked."

After speaking, with the concerned gazes of the two girls on him, Heisenberg casually flexed his wrists.

As he loosened up, he addressed Carol one last time.

"Thanos destroyed their lives with a snap. They didn't seek revenge on Thanos.

Earth simply didn't magically restore their lives for them, and now they want to take their anger out on Earth.

They weren't strong enough to stop Thanos before it all happened.

They weren't resolute enough to think of a way or capable enough to undo the damage after it happened.

So these creatures, lacking both resolve and strength, actually dare to bare their fangs at the Earth that defeated Thanos twice!

Who exactly gave them the courage? Was it you, Carol?"

"Shut up!"

Carol, humiliated and enraged, let out a furious shout and threw a vicious punch straight at Heisenberg's chest.

The table between them offered no resistance whatsoever, shattering into splinters in an instant.

Facing the incoming fist, Heisenberg curled his lip in contempt.

He didn't dodge. He didn't block. He simply took the blow head on!

BOOM!

Heisenberg didn't budge an inch, but a violent shockwave instantly erupted outward.

Seeing the shockwave about to harm the two girls, Heisenberg immediately deployed his bio electric field, containing and absorbing the blast.

Then he extended his left hand and clamped it around Carol's right wrist like a vice. He spoke softly to her.

"The only trouble you're capable of causing me is that damned speed of yours and your spatial jump ability!"

As he spoke, his left hand tightened its grip, ensuring there was absolutely no way Carol could break free.

"And now, I've got you!"

BOOM!

In the blink of an eye, Heisenberg and Carol tore through the clouds and shot straight out of the atmosphere!

For powerhouses like them, adept at flight and perfectly capable of surviving the vacuum of space, the cosmos was where they could truly unleash their full strength!

As for Heisenberg's words, Carol didn't pay them much mind.

Too many beings across the universe wanted her dead. Right now, she didn't consider Heisenberg anything special!

Since her right hand was firmly locked in Heisenberg's grip, Carol used her left hand to launch a relentless assault at Heisenberg's throat and jaw!

But Heisenberg easily deflected Carol's attacks with his right hand.

And it wasn't just defense. His right hand moved far faster than Carol's left.

So in just a few short seconds, countless punches landed squarely on Carol's face.

The two continued this primitive, brutal exchange for over ten seconds before Carol finally gritted her teeth in frustration.

She simply couldn't breach the defense of Heisenberg's right hand with her left to inflict any real damage.

So she abruptly stopped struggling, hanging there and staring at Heisenberg with utter disdain as he continued to attack.

Every single one of Heisenberg's heavy blows was absorbed completely by Captain Marvel's Binary energy field.

Just like in the movie when Thanos delivered a full force headbutt and the Binary energy around her merely rippled faintly.

Even when Thanos struck her with the Power Stone, aside from being sent flying, she sustained absolutely no injuries!

Keep in mind, a direct hit from the Power Stone on Earth would obliterate the planet instantly.

And the punch Thanos threw at Carol while wielding the Power Stone could have just as easily destroyed Earth...

Therefore, Heisenberg's punches were incapable of piercing her Binary defense shield in a short amount of time.

The only thing Heisenberg managed to achieve was making the ripples across her body's surface grow denser and denser!

"Damn sturdy!"

Heisenberg grumbled with displeasure. Then he simply ceased his attacks as well. He held Carol's right hand in an iron grip and spoke to her.

"This may be space, but I imagine we both have our own unique ways of hearing each other. That turtle shell of yours is a lot tougher than I imagined."

"Heh. And you're a lot weaker than I imagined, Superman!"

This time it was Carol's turn to laugh coldly. After she'd had her fill of mocking laughter, she raised her head proudly and sneered at Heisenberg.

"When I was a little girl, my idols were Superman and Captain America.

By the time I grew up, I knew very well that I had surpassed the idol that was Captain America.

And now, I finally realize I've surpassed you too!"

"Heh. You're flattering yourself."

Heisenberg scoffed. At the same time, his eyes blazed with crimson light.

Intense beams of heat vision blasted directly into Captain Marvel's face, causing the defensive energy field around her to fluctuate violently!

Seeing this, Captain Marvel remained unfazed. She raised her left hand, and a dazzling wave of energy erupted from her palm!

The rainbow like radiance clashed with Heisenberg's heat vision, and the two beams locked in a stalemate!

Just then, Heisenberg suddenly retracted his heat vision. He reached out with his right hand and seized Carol's left wrist as well, pinning both her arms.

Then, dragging Carol along, he rocketed toward the distant sun at his current maximum speed of Mach 260,000!

As he flew, Heisenberg channeled every ounce of his strength to restrict Carol's movements. Under the combined force of his physical might and his bio electric field, Carol found it completely impossible to initiate a spatial jump with him!
