Chapter 87 - Hung Up

Realizing she had lost any chance to jump away, Carol finally started taking this fight seriously.

Their figures streaked past countless asteroids in an instant, brawling without pause across the boundless cosmos!

Desperately, Marvel kicked and thrashed with everything she had while Heisenberg kept her under control, relentlessly bombarding her Binary energy with his heat vision to prevent her from fully concentrating her power.

But even though Heisenberg held a slight edge in containment, he had to admit that Marvel's strength was nothing to scoff at.

So much so that their flight path zigzagged like a bolt of lightning!

Every time Marvel mustered her strength to break free, Heisenberg would get knocked off course. Together they smashed through endless meteors and even slammed headfirst into Venus!

BOOM!!!

They landed in a graceless sprawl.

Like stones skipping across water, they bounced across the surface of Venus, lifting off and crashing down again in quick succession.

In the blink of an eye, the Venusian landscape was riddled with countless new craters.

Finally, Heisenberg forcefully dragged her away from Venus and past Mercury…

The closer they got to the sun, the stronger Heisenberg became!

When Marvel's Binary pulse clashed with Heisenberg's heat vision once more,

Marvel was stunned to find her energy wave completely overwhelmed by his beams!

There was no stalemate this time. Heisenberg's east wind had decisively crushed Marvel's west wind.

Pushing straight through her energy wave, Heisenberg drove his heat vision right into Marvel's face!

Blinded by the searing red glare, Marvel could barely see a thing. Even with her energy shielding her, all she perceived was crimson light.

She thrashed her head, trying to evade it, but the heat vision followed her like a shadow, making her heart pound faster with dread… and fear.

Something was wrong!

During the time she couldn't see, her internal energy was depleting at an alarming rate!

This drain went far beyond what was needed to resist the heat vision.

It felt as if something monstrous was incinerating her from within.

Desperate, she smashed her head against Heisenberg's. Once, twice, countless times!

CRASH!

Still enduring the heat vision, Marvel landed a brutal headbutt that finally freed her eyes from the oppressive red assault.

But what she saw next filled her with horror. She was now inside a world of searing crimson!

Endless explosions erupted all around her, and violent shockwaves battered her energy shield over and over again.

"This is the sun!!!"

She cried out in shock, and suddenly everything clicked into place.

"You really know how to pick your battlefield, Superman. But you still can't hurt me! Absolutely not!"

"Heh!"

Hearing Marvel's words, Heisenberg sneered coldly as he dragged her further toward the sun's corona.

"Just a few minutes ago, you said I was no match for you!

Now all you can say is that I can't hurt you!

Even you realize it, don't you? Next comes the part where you die."

"Never!!!"

The Binary energy within Marvel churned violently. She was straining with all her might to warp both herself and Heisenberg to another location in space!

If she could just escape this damned sun, she was confident she would never lose to some ordinary Superman!

But just as her energy was about to peak, Heisenberg abruptly released her hand and clamped his grip around her throat instead.

He lowered his head and locked his eyes directly onto hers.

"Look into my eyes!!!"

Heisenberg roared. At the same time, his eyes blazed with an unprecedented crimson glare.

The intensity was so fierce that the sockets of his eyes were scorched the color of molten lava!

It was a clear sign that his internal energy levels were shattering all previous limits.

In the next instant, a torrent of heat vision unlike anything before, concentrated with the massive radiation he had absorbed from the sun, surged relentlessly into Marvel's eyeballs.

And there was more!

Heisenberg compressed the focus of the heat vision with all his strength, tightening the beam's intensity until it grew thinner and infinitely more deadly.

Marvel's Binary energy shield could no longer keep pace with his output.

Powered by the sun's endless supply, Heisenberg's heat vision shattered its previous limits and tore through Marvel's defenses like a hot knife through butter.

The protective aura around her gradually lost its color, and then, before her utterly terrified eyes,

It vanished completely…

"AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"

Marvel's eyes were instantly vaporized. The heat vision pierced straight through her brain, leaving two bloody, gaping holes in her once proud face.

Yet even then, a spark of life still clung to Marvel!

Heisenberg cut off his heat vision, expanded his bio field wide, and dragged her out of the sun. Soon they landed on Mercury.

Once on solid ground, Heisenberg tossed the faintly twitching Marvel aside.

She could see nothing.

Part of her brain was gone, making even basic thought an immense struggle.

But still, she kept repeating…

"You didn't do this for Earth… you just wanted to kill me…"

"You actually killed me…"

"Why am I dying…"

"I… lost. The first time… the last time."

"Heisenberg!!!"

In a sudden surge of final lucidity, Captain Marvel shouted with all her remaining strength.

"Promise me… don't let the universe fall back into war. Promise…!!!"

BANG!

Heisenberg's fist slammed into Marvel's chest. Her voice cut off abruptly, and her body went completely limp.

Heisenberg focused his gaze, instantly scanning every part of Marvel's brain tissue. Only after confirming her absolute death did he shake his head with a hint of regret.

"Tsk. A proud American woman. A benevolent guardian of the universe. Heh."

He strolled leisurely over to Marvel's side and raised his right hand. Her body floated up beside him.

"Weren't you the one who thought Earth would become the enemy of every species in the cosmos?

Weren't you the one who thought you were saving Earth or maybe pitying it?

Weren't you the one who thought you were so noble, calling for peace across the universe even in your final moments?"

He spoke with a mocking smile.

"But when has there ever been true peace in the universe?

The weak get beaten. The strong conquer.

What made you think that you alone could make the entire universe accept your ideals?"

With that, Heisenberg shot into the sky and flew straight toward Earth.

Before long, that brilliant blue planet appeared before him.

But Heisenberg didn't land directly. Instead, he veered off course and landed on the moon.

He stomped hard on the lunar surface, and a cloud of moon dust swirled into the void.

Using his bio field, Heisenberg easily compressed that dust and rock into a cohesive mass. In no time, over eighty colossal thrones rose from the lunar surface!

The thrones stood in a single row, each towering at least two hundred meters high.

And what were these thrones for?

Heisenberg pointed a finger, and Marvel's corpse drifted gently onto one of those enormous seats.

She sat there, motionless in death, yet it seemed as if her two light pierced brain holes were still staring out at the cosmic armada approaching Earth.

Heisenberg spoke.

"You kept stressing that the purpose of reviving your cosmic allies was to protect the planet of your birth.

Fine. I'll grant your wish!

When someone as renowned throughout the universe as you dies here at Earth,

And when Thanos, the cosmic tyrant, also dies at Earth,

When the two of you are turned into warning signs, hanging here alongside other future 'strong ones' as a message to all would be invaders…!"

Heisenberg suddenly laughed, a laugh brimming with genuine satisfaction.

He summed it up with a grin.

"That is when Earth will finally have the peace you wanted!"

With those words, Heisenberg flew back to Earth, heading straight for New York!

Without a word, he unleashed his super senses and tracked down the location of Thanos's corpse by scent!

He barged into some unknown military base. Under the terrified but helpless gazes of countless soldiers who dared not fire their weapons, he simply took Thanos's body.

He carried Thanos back to the moon and tossed him onto another throne right beside Marvel.

And so, Thanos and Marvel sat there serenely, gazing out into the infinite cosmos for all eternity.

As for Heisenberg, he casually plopped down onto a seat beside the two of them and let out a deep sigh.

Settling into a comfortable position, he rested while shaking his head at their corpses.

"You two…"

He looked at them and shook his head again.

"Thanos brought chaos to the universe, aiming to foster development through slaughter.

Carol brought stability to the universe, suppressing conflict to postpone resentment, allowing countless races to bury their hatred and achieve a fragile, short lived peace.

But why didn't either of you realize that what you were doing could never achieve your true goals?

Kill half of all life in the universe?

The survivors will still reproduce, still multiply, and before you've even had time to die, they'll have refilled the universe you just 'cleaned'!

And you, Marvel. Your ideas are truly… marvelous.

You roam the cosmos, constantly interrupting wars about to start or already underway between nations and species.

Never mind the sheer scope of your work. The fact that you're too busy to even save your own homeworld tells me exactly how overworked you are.

I'm talking about the content of your work. You use your power to threaten both sides into stopping their wars.

All that does is bottle up their hatred, or worse, redirect that hatred onto you!

Did it never occur to you that everything you wanted was actually very easy to achieve?

Since you both wanted the universe to operate according to your will, and you clearly had the power to enforce it,

Why not just try ruling the universe completely, like I did on Earth 19999?

Once you rule the entire cosmos, won't everything you desire just fall into place as you wish?

How utterly foolish."

He concluded his speech, then shot back toward Earth and hovered over Los Angeles.

As he floated there, he listened closely for the voices he had been keeping an ear on.

Then he quickly flew toward the Los Angeles Police Department.

The next second, he smashed through the ceiling and landed squarely in an interrogation room.

The two girls he had rescued earlier were inside, crying as they spoke to their parents on the phone.

Seeing Heisenberg's dramatic entrance, the girls and the police officers were stunned.

Heisenberg smiled and waved at everyone before gently patting the two nineteen year old girls on their heads.

"Keep talking on the phone. Have a good chat with your families, and let them take you home. Don't ever get kidnapped or trafficked again."

He said to the girls, and they nodded frantically in response.

Satisfied that their immediate trouble was over, Heisenberg turned around and stood boldly in front of the assembled police officers.

"If either of these two suffers so much as a scratch, every single one of you will vanish from the face of the Earth. You have my word!"

"Yes, sir!"

Numerous officers snapped to attention and saluted. They were genuinely terrified.

Seeing this, Heisenberg nodded with satisfaction and then blasted off into the sky.

...

Meanwhile, at the Triskelion in Washington D.C., the recently resurrected Nick Fury and Maria Hill had just received some agonizing news.

Satellite imagery showed that Heisenberg had completely killed Marvel and had even placed Captain Marvel's corpse on the moon as a scarecrow to deter extraterrestrial life.

Staring at Marvel's final, gruesome state, Nick Fury clenched his jaw so hard it might crack.

"I have to see him!!!"
