A week had passed since I last saw Ema. It had been seven long days of silence from her side, and seven nights where I did nothing but stare at the empty side of the bed. The room felt too large and too cold without her there. I still did not know what Peter was planning in the dark. Every single report I got from Marcus was exactly the same. He told me there was no movement from Peter's side, no threats made to the guards, and no sign of Michael or his group of rogues.
Even though everything looked peaceful, the quiet felt wrong to me. It was too still. It felt like the calm that happens right before a storm hits, a storm that I could not see coming yet. My instincts as a wolf were on high alert, and my skin felt itchy with the need to do something.
