The warm water poured down Sofia's body as she relaxed in the shower, washing herself diligently after a long and grueling practice. She was a cheerleader at UNL, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and also an economics major. Her boyfriend Alex was on the American Football team, though he had not made it to the starter lineups yet, but hopefully next year he would. Not a quarterback, but a receiver, but Sofia didn't care about what position Alex played. Just being there, present on the field to cheer him and his team on was what mattered.
She twisted the knob, and the water stopped pouring, as she stood there in silence for a moment, listening to the sounds of the other girls out in the locker room. She was the last one out of the showers, as usual. The others wanted to head back to their dorm rooms quickly, but Sofia liked having this tiny moment to herself to unwind a bit. She had exams coming up, and knew she had to head back to study, but seriously can't a girl get at least a few moments to relax?
Naked feet padded over the slippery shower-room floor, as she reached the towel hanger. She began drying herself, before wrapping up in the towel and heading out into the locker room. As she emerged from the showers, the last of the cheerleading squad were leaving. Rachel and Kylie waved at her before they left, leaving Sofia alone in the locker room. She stretched a bit, before getting dressed. It was cold outside, around 32 degrees Fahrenheit, so staying warm would have to take priority over looking pretty. Boots, sweatpants, a crop-top, Alex's hoodie, and a jacket. That would do.
When she left the locker room and headed down the corridors of the Memorial Stadium, no one else was around. Which wasn't unusual, she had stayed a bit late. It was winter-time, and most people wanted to just rush back to their cozy dorms or apartments, and Sofia was no different. When she left the stadium, it was already dark out, the sun having just set not too long ago. As she steered her feet in the direction of her car however, she felt as if she was being watched. Turning around, she could not see anything, so she slowly started walking again, but that uneasy feeling never truly left her.
By the time she reached her car, a pick-up truck of course, she was already in quite the hurry to leave. She dropped her car-keys on the ground as she tried to unlock the car and cursed to herself, bending over to pick them up. As she rose to stand, she heard a deep voice behind her:
"Need any help with that?"
She spun around, and came face to face with a man who was certainly not dressed for the weather. Sandals, shorts, a simple t-shirt. Yet, he did not appear cold at all, as he stood there, hands in his pockets. He did not look all that threatening, but there was something off about him that immediately put her on edge. His eyes were almost red, and the way he looked at her was nothing short of predatory, as if she was nothing more than a piece of meat. Now Sofia was used to guys giving her similar looks, as she was rather attractive and part of the cheerleading team. But their eyes had been filled with carnal desires, of lust and attraction. This was different, she realized, as the man before her watched her too.
-"Oh, n-no thank you, I am good." She responded, clutching the keys to her chest. However, to her horror, the man just took a step forward, his look intense, as he licked his lips.
"Oh, I bet you are good, indeed...." he said, voice low, as he took yet another step closer, now just a two feet away.
-"D-don't come any closer!" Sofia said, her voice louder.
"Oh, we can't have you shouting. Be a good little girl... and keep your voice down low and don't move much...." he said, as he stared right into her eyes. She was lost in his red eyes for a few seconds, unable to look away, only to realize... she could no longer move! She tried, she really did! She wanted to run away, to push him back, but her body just would not respond no matter what she did.
-"W.. what did you do to me?" she whispered out, and now she was outright terrified, her heart racing in her chest. The man came closer, now inches from her, as he leaned down, his face dangerously close as he seemed to smell her.
"Oh it is called compulsion, dear. Nothing you need to trouble your mind with..." he said, as he put his hands on her hips, running his nose and lips along the exposed skin of her neck.
"Mhm... seriously... young cheerleaders are the best. So pretty... so... full of life..." he added, as he brushed some of her blonde hair to the side, revealing more of her neck. He then started kissing her neck, nibbling gently, and she wanted to scream. Desperately, she wished for it. For someone to come save her. Alex, the police, anyone! She tried to move her arms, but couldn't. She could only move her head just a tiny tiny bit.
-"Please... stop.... I beg you, please..." she whispered out, but her pleas only seemed to spur him on. He put a single hand atop one of her breasts, before she felt him opening his jaw, and then there was a sharp stinging pain from her neck, and she realized he had bit her, locking his jaws around her neck and throat. The pain throbbed, and then she noticed that he wasn't letting go. Rather, he was biting down harder, suckling. She was getting dizzy, her strength fading.
Then, from somewhere within her, another sensation stirred. Not fear, but desperation. A survival instinct she did not know she had. A primal voice, shouting at her that it was now or never. Fight or die. And she did not want to die. She had so much left to live for! She was going to graduate, get married to Alex, they were going to support one another, make a family together, a life.
With a sudden surge of newfound strength, she did the only thing she could. As the man was busy biting down her neck and sucking up her blood, his own side of his was exposed. Summoning every ounce of willpower she had, she moved her head, slowly, until she was able to touch his earlobe with her lips. Then, returning the favor, she bit into his earlobe hard, tasting the blood as she clamped down on his flesh as if her life depended on it!
The reaction was immediate as the man stopped sucking and thrashed hard, slamming her into her car and later tossing her down on the ground as he shouted loudly:
"YOU BITCH! You will regret that!"
He towered over her, his ear slightly ajar as she had taken quite the chunk out of it! Her eyes widened however as she realized the ear was rapidly growing back before her very eyes!
-"What... are you?" she wheezed out, still unable to raise her voice, as she gazed up at him, also unable to get up to her feet. She was terribly dizzy, her world getting darker and darker, as she had lost a lot of blood.
"Wouldn't you like to kno-" the man began, though he was interrupted by another shout, his head suddenly jerking upwards in response to the noise.
"There he is, I see him!" the unknown voice called out.
"Shit..." the man said, looking conflicted. It seemed he wanted to run away, but also to finish what he started. He spent perhaps two seconds just standing there, looking down at Sofia, before he turned away with a loud snarl. Then, in a flash, he vanished with inhuman speed.
Seconds later, another person appeared before her, while her vision was fading. She noticed, he too had dark red eyes, along with striking dark hair and rather handsome features. He lowered himself over her, and he felt his cold hands along his neck. He turned, and called back over his shoulder at someone else:
"What should we do, V? She's been bitten..." he called out.
"Just leave her be. Not our problem..." came the response, a female voice Sofia could not see. In fact, she could not see at all, as her vision was rapidly fading. She felt sleepy, oh so terribly sleepy.
"But... she might die?" the male voice called out in the dark.
"Why are you so concerned with the cattle? You should think more about hunting down William before he attacks anyone else and brings even more attention to us. But if you're that worried, just call 911 on her phone, then get going..." the female voice answered.
After that, Sofia could not make out the words anymore, just muffled voices, before the darkness finally claimed her...
