In truth, from Dumbledore's perspective, Hagrid's current strength was not weak at all. Although his formal magical education had been cut short at a third-year level, his half-giant heritage granted him physical strength and magical resistance that were extraordinarily high.
For most Aurors or Dark Wizards, standard spells would have little to no effect when striking Hagrid's massive frame. Even the Killing Curse—unless cast by a top-tier wizard of Severus Snape's caliber—might fail to deliver an instantaneous lethal blow.
While the Killing Curse was known as the unblockable, one-hit-kill curse, its efficacy depended heavily on context. The power of the Killing Curse derived primarily from the magical prowess of the caster and the intensity of the underlying malice. Normally, an ordinary wizard's body would stand no chance against a Dark Wizard's Killing Curse; their physical form simply lacked the capacity to resist its absolute necrotic power.
However, magical creatures were a different matter entirely. Take a dragon, for instance: it was impossible for a random Dark Wizard to drop a dragon with a single Killing Curse. If it were that easy, dragons wouldn't be classified as XXXXX-level threats.
Gringotts wouldn't spend vast fortunes to keep dragons as guardians for their deepest vaults. If every thief who dared to rob Gringotts—likely a Dark Wizard proficient in the Unforgivable Curses—could simply clear the path with a single green flash, the presence of a dragon would be meaningless.
Similarly, a first or second-year student at Hogwarts, even if they managed to successfully cast the Killing Curse, would likely do little more than give an adult wizard a nosebleed.
While Hagrid's magical resistance was not quite on the level of a dragon's, a common Dark Wizard truly might not be able to kill him with a single curse. Essentially, Hagrid was more than capable of taking on seven or eight ordinary Dark Wizards by himself.
If he could learn to use ki, he would be legendary. A Hagrid who mastered ki would see his speed increase drastically, rendering most magical projectiles impossible to aim.
Once Hagrid closed the distance, even Voldemort would likely find himself being pummeled into the ground. Most importantly, Hagrid was a wizard Dumbledore trusted implicitly; he would never betray him.
"Goku, I was wondering if it would be alright for Hagrid to begin training alongside you starting tomorrow morning?"
"Of course!" Goku agreed without a second thought. If Hagrid could develop his ki, he would make an excellent sparring partner. Goku needed someone he could actually fight to refine his combat skills. Dumbledore, while powerful, used a fighting style that didn't provide the same physical training benefits—unless, of course, they were engaged in purely magical combat.
"Today, we are going to learn basic Transfiguration. This is a very profound and advanced branch of magic. I will start by teaching you the fundamental incantation..."
After breakfast, Dumbledore began the day's magic lesson. Yesterday, he had spent half a day teaching Goku most of the first-year utility spells, but he had intentionally omitted Transfiguration. This was because Transfiguration differed fundamentally from almost all other spells.
Wizards generally categorized magic into White Magic and Dark Arts. White Magic covered a vast spectrum and was unified under Charms class, while Dark Arts were only touched upon in Defense Against the Dark Arts.
However, within White Magic, one discipline was deemed significant enough to stand as its own curriculum: Transfiguration. This meant the utility and difficulty of Transfiguration were considered equal to all other normal magic and the Dark Arts combined.
Turning inanimate objects into other inanimate objects, turning inanimate things into living beings, or turning life into something lifeless—Transfiguration touched upon the very essence of life. it was the most complex and dangerous subject a wizard could study.
"I love Transfiguration!" Goku perked up immediately as Dumbledore explained the subject. Aside from Apparition, this was the magic that interested him most. Even though Dumbledore had warned him that he couldn't create food out of nothing, the ability to transform existing food was a game-changer.
For example, if he was tired of bread and coffee, he could use Transfiguration to turn the bread into a roasted bird and the coffee into fruit juice.
"Vera Verto!"
As noon approached, Goku slid his finger through the air. Following his incantation, the goblet on Dumbledore's desk transformed into a chamber pot.
"Very good. Just slow the rhythm of the incantation a bit more, and the effect of the change will be even better." Dumbledore picked up the chamber pot and inspected it closely, a satisfied look on his face. Goku truly had a talent for learning spells; in a single morning, he had essentially mastered the basics of Transfiguration. He wasn't just limited to small changes like turning a needle into a matchstick; he could handle larger objects perfectly well.
After a hearty lunch, Dumbledore began teaching Goku the foundational theory of Transfiguration in the afternoon. When the topic shifted to Animagi—a branch of human transformation—Goku suddenly raised his hand.
"Grandpa Dumbledore, can you tell me more about Animagus transformation?"
"An Animagus transformation is a highly difficult form of magic. Even in the wizarding world, very few people master it." Seeing Goku's intense interest, Dumbledore proceeded to give him a crash course on the subject.
"As we discussed, Transfiguration can be cast on any non-magical object or person, but it generally cannot be cast on oneself—with the exception of the Animagus. It allows a person to transform into a non-magical animal while maintaining their human intellect, preventing them from being controlled by the animal's instincts."
"However, becoming an Animagus is not easy. First, you must keep a single leaf of a Mandrake in your mouth for an entire month—from full moon to full moon. You cannot swallow it or take it out at any time; if it leaves your mouth, the process must restart. Second..."
As he listened to the explanation, a sudden thought surged in Goku's mind. 'If I use the Animagus transformation to turn into a Great Ape, would it be possible to keep my mind?'
"Goku, why are you so interested in the Animagus?" Dumbledore asked curiously, noticing the boy's deep contemplation. He sensed there was more to the story.
Goku answered honestly: "I have a tail on my back. On the night of the full moon, I transform into a giant ape and lose my mind. But in that state, my power increases at least tenfold. So I was thinking... if I could become an Animagus, maybe I could fully control the Great Ape form..."
"A tenfold increase in power!" Dumbledore's eyes widened in shock. Had he not known Goku was too pure to lie, he truly would not have believed it. Goku's current strength was already terrifying; the idea of it increasing by ten times was beyond comprehension.
A tenfold increase wasn't as simple as being able to fight ten people instead of one. Usually, such an increase meant that where you could previously fight one person, now any number of opponents ceased to be a threat. It meant that wizards at his and Voldemort's level might be eliminated before they could even finish a single incantation.
