Chapter 15 - chapter 15: embarrassed

"I hope you enjoyed making a fool out of yourself" Hardin glared at Hailey.

Amelia had left already, she decided to leave since her presence had caused a misunderstanding.

"Why are you here?" Hardin's voice broke Hailey out of her thoughts and she gave him an embarrassed smile.

"I didn't know she was your cousin," Hailey defended.

"It doesn't really matter to you if she was my cousin or not, don't over step" Hardin replied.

"As a wife, I can't just sit and watch another woman get clingy with my husband," Hailey retorted.

Hardin was taken back, was she jealous? The thought stirred something inside him and he smirked at her.

"Are you jealous?" He asked as he stood up and walked closer to Hailey who moved back until her back but the wall, Hardin got closer pinning her to the wall.

His face was so close to hers.

"I'm not jealous, just doing what any wife would do" Hailey said trying to avoid his eyes.

There's no way she would tell him she was feeling uneasy and angry about how close he was with Amelia.

For a split second Hardin felt like kissing Hailey, she looked so innocent and beautiful.

"Fuck" he muttered and walked out of the study, Hailey blinked in confusion.

What was wrong with him?

_______

Hardin woke up early and got dressed for work, he couldn't believe he was actually planning on kissing her, she looked just like her why would he be falling for her all over again.

When he went downstairs, Hailey already prepared breakfast, normally he would ignore her and leave but he decided to eat.

Hailey was more than delighted to have Hardin eating her meal.

"Progress at last" Hailey smiled as she watched Hardin eat, she hoped he wouldn't throw up the food and complain that she gave him poison to eat.

Hardin ate silently and Hailey watched him, when he was done, he left the house and Hailey smiled to herself.

_______

Mark and Hardin are in a bowling joint, Mark had a bowling ball in his hand as he prepared to knock down the pins.

"Are you seriously gonna go on with this?" Mark asked, turning towards Hardin who frowned.

"Don't act dumb" Mark cautioned and turned his attention back to the pins, she swung the ball and it knocked down all the pins.

"Yes!" He screamed as he turned towards Hardin.

"She's different Hardin, don't torture the poor girl for revenge, she doesn't even know anything" Mark adviced and Hardin sighed.

"I know she's different," Hardin replied.

_______

When Hardin got home, Hailey already cooked dinner, he walked past her to his room to take a bath.

Hailey slumped her shoulders cause she thought he won't eat dinner, she had so much hope when he ate breakfast this morning.

Hardin came down moments later and Hailey's eyes glittered with joy.

He sat down and started eating

"How was work today?" Hailey asked, trying to strike a conversation.

She has been doing this for sometime now, using little moments to ask about his day.

"It was okay" Hardin simply said and Hailey nodded.

"It's so boring in here, already reading all the books in the library," Hailey complained.

"Get more books," Hardin replied.

"You said not to go out," Hailey reminded.

"I'm telling you otherwise now" Hardin said and she literally helped for joy, she stood from her seat and walked over to Hardin, Hugging him tightly.

Hardin was surprised by her attitude, how long she has stayed here , that she is this happy to go to a bookstore, guess Mark was right.

He really wasn't treating her right, after all she wasn't the same person, he shouldn't punish her for another person's sins.

Hailey went upstairs humming happily to herself.

______

Immediately Hardin left the house, Hailey wore a white Floral dress and a pair of sandals, she picked up her small white purse and left the house.

Hardin had given her the permission to leave the house and she intended on using it wisely, after all she worked so hard to get him to trust her enough to let her leave the house.

She hadn't stopped talking to Cole since Hardin told her to, instead she has been calling him everyday and they have both been planning ways to help her escape.

She would definitely miss Faye when she leaves this place, Faye was the only friend she has ever had in her entire life and she made leaving with Hardin bearable but she has to leave.

She can't stay in Hardin's clutches all her life, Cole presented her with an opportunity and she plans on taking it.

Hailey dressed casually because she didn't want the guards to suspect her. She went straight to the book shop. She wasn't sure if Hardin had someone following her but she wanted to be on the safe side. A man entered the bookshop with a plastic bag in his hand, he gave it to Hailey and told her Cole sent him, Hailey smiled and went to the washroom to change.

She came out with jeans and a hoodie over her head, she left the bookstore and walked down the street.

A black car pulled up in front of her and she got in.

Hailey was taken to a hotel where she met Cole, she hugged him immediately she saw him.

"Thank you so much" she said to Cole and he smiled.

"It's not a problem, i already got your passport ready, your flight leaves tomorrow morning, the earlier you go the harder it would be for him to catch you" Cole said and Hailey nodded.

"I really appreciate your help" Hailey said and Cole smiled at her.
