The massive men's dormitory building had Hua Yi as its sole resident. Perhaps because no male students had ever lived there before, there wasn't even a guard at the entrance.
He used his key card to open the main gate and walked quickly through the relatively clean corridor. After swiping into his own room, Hua Yi's gaze drifted across the spacious dormitory.
It was over thirty square meters, complete with a bedroom and a study. Once he was certain there were no cameras or surveillance devices, he took a deep breath and tapped the button for a ten-fold Supply.
In the game, a Friendship Supply provided B-rank character shards, Coins, and low-level common materials. In truth, none of these held much value for Hua Yi.
Coins might function like the world's currency, but common materials were for evolving weapons and Stigmata. Without suitable gear, obtaining them was nearly pointless.
As for B-rank character shards, Hua Yi didn't believe he could synthesize a Valkyrie from fragments in this real world. This meant the Friendship Supply was bound to have changed, and it was this unknown shift that kept him from truly settling his mind.
He wanted to become stronger. He wanted to board the Hyperion. He wanted to hear those Valkyries truly call him "Captain." At the very least, after arriving in the Honkai world, he didn't want to be an ordinary person who couldn't even face the Honkai.
In the game, gear and items of 4-star rarity or higher were colored purple, and seeing purple in a Supply was considered a "hit." 3-star and 2-star items were blue. In the pools that required Crystals, seeing constant blue items simply meant a player was having a run of bad luck.
Right now, ten green icons spread out before Hua Yi. Though he knew the Friendship Supply was unlikely to yield anything good, he could only offer a helpless, bitter smile at the sight.
Green represented 1-star items.
Nine 1-star Homu's Treasures transformed into golden light, flowing into the top of the virtual interface where a Coin display appeared. The number following it was nine thousand. The only item that wasn't a Homu's Treasure was a Stigmata.
"Selena (T), huh? My past self would never have imagined that I would feel joy from obtaining this Stigmata."
As Hua Yi murmured to himself, the Stigmata which started at 1-star and had a maximum of 2-star did not materialize into a physical object as he expected. Instead, it turned directly into a streak of green light and injected itself into his body.
Then came the pain of a foreign power coursing through him. Perhaps because Selena (T) wasn't a particularly powerful Stigmata, or perhaps because Hua Yi possessed a certain level of aptitude, the pain wasn't unbearable. He merely knit his brows, enduring it without a cry or a struggle. He even let the corners of his mouth curl into a trembling smile.
It was proof of his joy.
Hua Yi could feel that he had become stronger.
Standing up again, Hua Yi left his room and went to the shared bathroom that only he used. He looked into the mirror, checking his back.
There was nothing out of the ordinary; it looked perfectly normal.
The power was there, however. Hua Yi had indeed obtained it. It wasn't overwhelming, but it was real.
After a brief silence, Hua Yi grinned. Since his back didn't show a mark like a Valkyrie's Stigmata, did that mean he could absorb the power contained within these Stigmata infinitely? Did the limit of only being able to equip three Stigmata at once not exist for him?
Having only obtained Selena (T), he couldn't reach a definitive conclusion, but the possibility was high.
As the Stigmata's power was absorbed, the ten-fold supply officially concluded. Hua Yi noticed that the once-monotonous virtual interface, which had only shown a Friendship Supply box, now displayed a Coin balance at the top, a Friendship Points column in the middle, and a Stigmata button on the side.
Hua Yi originally intended to reach out and tap it, just as he had with the supply pull, but the moment the thought crossed his mind, the interface shifted automatically. It revealed Selena (T) the only Stigmata he currently owned along with an Enhance button.
Enhancing didn't require the various materials from his memory, nor did it need experience fodder. It only required Coins. To max out the 1-star Selena (T), it cost one thousand Coins. Having nine thousand, Hua Yi didn't hesitate and maxed it out immediately. The button then changed to Evolve, which required a staggering five thousand Coins.
This drastic increase made Hua Yi frown. How many Coins did it take to evolve a 1-star Stigmata in the game? It certainly wasn't this extreme. Even if it no longer required materials, such a sharp increase in cost...
Hua Yi could already foresee a future where he would be desperately short on Coins.
Despite his wandering thoughts, he chose to evolve it. But when he tried to max the Stigmata's level again, he ran out of money.
Bringing a 2-star Stigmata to max level required ten thousand Coins ten times the cost of the 1-star version. Moreover, there was no intermediate leveling; it was either Level 1 or Max Level. Left with only three thousand Coins, Hua Yi gave up helplessly, leaving Selena (T) at 2-star Level 1.
Previously, he had been enduring the discomfort of dual-vision for fear that closing the interface would mean he could never open it again. Now, almost as soon as the thought of giving up occurred to him, all the windows vanished, and his vision returned to normal.
He didn't feel happy. Instead, his heart tightened until a shift in his thoughts revealed that the virtual interface would appear at will. Only then did he heave a sigh of relief.
The Selena series were basic Stigmata in the game, and Hua Yi had only obtained the Top piece of the three-piece set. Without systematic combat training, his strength certainly wouldn't even match a B-rank Valkyrie. Even so, the crushing pressure he had felt since learning this was the Honkai world eased slightly.
"I hope I still have enough time."
Glancing at the year displayed on his phone 2013 Hua Yi whispered softly.
