"Stop," Shen raised his hand. A glimmer of hope, or maybe curiosity, remained in his eyes. "An alliance…between us and you?"
"For now."
"I'm not going to insult you by pretending we trust each other," Aren continued. "You don't trust me. I don't trust everyone here. Stella definitely doesn't."
"But Ghoul Division is hunting you, and Aetherion is the only lead I have. You need a way to survive. I need a way in. For the moment, those goals overlap."
The older ghoul sneered. "So you use us."
"Yes."
Aren continued before anyone else could. "I know Aetherion's ways. With this much experimentation, and especially making Ghouls their hunting dogs, they must have leverage on them."
"More precisely…a cure."
