The afternoon slipped by like water flowing beneath a bridge.

Then a knock broke the stillness.
"Who is it?" she called.
Stone's voice came from beyond the door. "Mistress, we have gathered many stones. We need your help to move them."
Sienna set the book aside and rose.
The chair scraped softly against the floor.

As they walked down the corridor and out into the yard, Sienna asked, "Is the mining going smoothly?"
Stone nodded. "Yes, Mistress. Vann found several places with usable stone. There is no iron ore, but enough suitable rock to make the mill stone."
"Good." Sienna's expression turned serious. "But remember this, Stone. A millstone can be carved again if it cracks. A human life cannot. Tell everyone to be careful."
Stone lowered his head respectfully. "Yes, Mistress."
