Chapter 223 - Handling the Situation

Translator: AnubisTL

Jieming's expression remained calm, but his mental power subtly swept through the kneeling elves.

After careful observation, he detected only a faint connection—a remnant of their soul contract—with Alvin, the administrator.

This meant the other elves had been born after Jieming's departure, a new generation unbound by any contract.

Sensing Jieming's piercing gaze, Alvin involuntarily trembled.

Before Jieming could even ask, Alvin began explaining the situation in the Golden Garden over the past fifty years.

His account largely mirrored Otto's earlier explanation:

The core issue was food scarcity. With resources insufficient to sustain the growing human population, they had been forced to leave the Golden Garden and fend for themselves.

Jieming listened to Alvin's smooth, rehearsed explanation with an impassive nod, offering no comment.

He stepped over the kneeling elves and strode deeper into the Golden Garden, toward his manor, which had been sealed for fifty years.

Alvin and Otto, who had been following Jieming, exchanged uneasy glances, each seeing a hint of unspoken fear and anxiety in the other's eyes.

In the end, they could only cautiously keep pace with Jieming.

Along the way, Alvin detailed the various changes that had occurred within the Golden Garden during Jieming's absence.

From Jieming's observations, the rare magical flowers within the Golden Garden were being meticulously cared for. The flowerbeds were immaculate, brimming with natural vitality and harmonious elemental fluctuations.

It seemed the elf race was indeed diligently maintaining the garden as instructed.

What particularly delighted Jieming was discovering that the automatic formations he had previously set up to collect "flower dew" and "Mortal Dust Qi" in a specialized energy-gathering area had yielded astonishing results.

The temporary containers were already more than half-filled with the collected resources.

Only the depletion of spiritual power in the formations had halted their operation; otherwise, his harvest would have been even greater.

Still, this unexpected windfall was a pleasant surprise.

Seeing such a bountiful harvest significantly improved Jieming's mood, which had been soured by the territorial rebellion.

Soon, Jieming arrived at his manor.

He noticed that the defense barrier he had personally established around the manor was still functioning normally, emitting a faint elemental glow.

This was to be expected.

After all, the entire manor was powered by an independent elemental pool buried deep underground.

Unless some extraordinary experiment requiring massive energy consumption was underway, the elemental pool's reserves were sufficient to keep the entire manor—including the underground laboratory—running stably for thousands of years.

Jieming effortlessly deactivated the barrier and entered his laboratory.

Ignoring the elves and humans who had voluntarily remained outside, he went straight to the main control platform to review the operational logs of the laboratory and the Golden Garden's Monitoring System from the past fifty years.

When he emerged from the laboratory, he found a circle of elves had gathered outside the manor.

They had all rushed here from various parts of the Golden Garden after hearing the news.

Only a small portion of the assembled elves were freshmen, and most of them wore anxious expressions.

The freshmen, on the other hand, gazed with awe and curiosity, furtively studying the legendary "Master" before them.

Jieming calmly nodded at the group of anxious elves, his face betraying neither joy nor anger.

Without uttering a word, he fixed his gaze on Alvin, who knelt at the forefront.

Then, he reached out his hand toward Alvin and gently clenched his fist.

Boom—Rumble!

A massive boulder was instantly drawn from the earth using alchemy.

Countless sharp stone spikes erupted from the ground beneath Alvin, forming an iron-like cage that closed in an instant, crushing the elf administrator—who had been congratulating himself on his excuses—into a shapeless mass of flesh.

Blood, shattered bones, and green fluids splattered across the surrounding flowerbeds, staining the beautiful nursery crimson.

"Lord Alvin!"

The freshman elf guards roared in fury at the sight.

Their eyes burned with fury and confusion, their instincts screaming for attack.

Jieming merely flicked his wrist.

Several invisible mental power strikes precisely targeted the elves' brains.

Their roars abruptly ceased as their bodies went limp, collapsing to the ground in a deep coma.

Having dealt with them, Jieming acted as if he had merely crushed an ant.

His primary reason for entering the laboratory was to review the monitoring records related to spatial stability.

This was his second lingering question: he vividly remembered that his spatial jump had failed because he had been precisely "blocked"!

Based on the records Jieming had just reviewed, the barrier preventing his spatial jump was likely the multi-layered natural energy shield that the elves had erected to envelop the entire Golden Garden, which he had casually destroyed earlier.

Jieming was certain that if he had questioned Alvin directly, the elf lord would have concocted countless excuses and justifications for his actions.

Such as preventing foreign invasion, protecting the garden's ecosystem, and so on.

He knew why the patrol teams only used freshmen: only they could defy the contract and oppose him without fear.

If pressed to argue, this elf could probably conjure up a multitude of plausible justifications.

But Jieming had no need to debate such matters with him.

For the weak and treacherous, a wizard's methods were always simple and direct.

Jieming's gaze swept over the surrounding elves, their faces etched with terror, their bodies trembling like sieves. He singled out an elder who appeared older, his eyes still retaining a flicker of reverence, suggesting he was a respected figure among the elf race.

Pointing at him, Jieming commanded in an unwavering tone, "From today onward, you will continue to rule the elf race in Alvin's stead."

As for Otto, who stood behind him, Jieming decided not to trouble him further.

Considering the man had indeed done a commendable job developing the human settlements outside, Jieming had no intention of harassing him, nor did he plan to strip him of his title as "King."

After all, Jieming's senses revealed that Otto's life force had already dwindled to a mere ember, indicating he was well into his twilight years. Allowing him to remain king for the remainder of his days would hardly alter the course of events.

This could be considered a reward for his years of diligent effort in fulfilling his "management" mission.

Shortly after Jieming issued his orders, news reached the dwarven race.

Soon, a group of dwarves arrived, trembling with fear as they carried a massive, gleaming metallic machine from the distant mountain range.

Through questioning, Jieming learned that the dwarves had initially been unaware of the elves' intentions.

It wasn't until the elves began deploying layers of energy barriers and attempting to completely seal off the Golden Garden that the dwarves realized something was amiss.

Terrified by the wizard's unfathomable power, the dwarves believed the elves were courting their own destruction, leading to a heated argument between the two races.

Ultimately, the dwarves withdrew their people and their backup "resource converter" from the Golden Garden, severing all ties with the elves.

Meanwhile, under Otto's leadership, the humans had already established their nation and demonstrated remarkable expansionist tendencies.

In the dwarves' stubborn perception, both the humans and elves were lunatics.

To prevent the wizard's return and the annihilation of their race due to the foolish actions of the elves and humans,

Thus, the dwarven race could only occupy a remote mountain range, relying entirely on the "resource converter" to sustain their population and completely refusing any communication with the other two races.

After hearing this, Jieming nodded.

He instructed the dwarves to return and reassure their people, informing them that over the next few years, successive rounds of transformations targeting their bloodlines and souls would be carried out.

During his inspection of the laboratory earlier, Jieming discovered numerous messages accumulated on his communication terminal over the past fifty years.

Among them were a large number of messages from David, as well as the biological modification materials and potions David had sent, now stockpiled in the warehouse.

These resources were originally part of the compensation agreed upon in their contract.

They were specifically intended for the complete transformation of the Elosia Plane's survivors, allowing them to adapt to the wizard world and become qualified "Wizarding World Humans."

Jieming planned to contact the academy and request personnel to transport the transformed individuals once all those in his territory had been modified.

Now that his territory was back on track, he had no interest in maintaining an indigenous kingdom next to his laboratory.

After swiftly reorganizing the affairs within his territory with thunderbolt efficiency, Jieming finally found peace and returned to his underground laboratory.

He reactivated the main control platform and established a connection with the Noren Academy on the Elosia Prime Plane.

With practiced ease, he posted a mission on the mission panel: "Territorial Alien Race Transformation," and prepaid a portion of the points as a deposit.

He requested that the academy dispatch personnel as soon as possible to modify the bloodlines and souls of the humans, elves, and dwarves within his territory.

The Elosia Plane, after years of continuous development by the Noren Workshop, had long since transformed from its original state.

A new branch of the Noren Academy was nearing completion, thanks to the allocation of abundant resources.

Although the academy had not yet formally begun large-scale student recruitment, formal wizards who had recently completed their military service were already arriving to apply for teaching positions or research fellowships.

Therefore, Jieming had no concerns that his mission would go unaccepted.

After all, for wizards fresh from the battlefield, such "internal missions"—safe, lucrative, and offering points and resources—were undoubtedly the ideal choice.
